Chapter Text

“Mish…meechclaw…uhm… Stiles Stilinski!” The announcer calls as Stiles walks across the stage in his maroon colored cap and gown.

Your entire row in the bleachers stands up and cheers, screaming loudly for the boy. Stiles turns and waves as he shakes the principal's hand and shows off his new diploma to the crowd. In usual Stiles fashion, he trips on his way off the stage and barely catches himself before he faceplants, turning to give a dramatic bow when he does.

Malia follows after him, having worked with you and Derek on math so that she could graduate on time. They join the rest of the pack back in their seats and you smile as you watch them all open their diploma folders as they compare them to each other. Kira Yukimura is the last name called and you join in with her father’s cheers.

The rest of the ceremony goes by in a blur. Lydia gives a rousing valedictorian speech that is both inspiring and a tad aggressive at the same time. Stiles and Lydia receive awards for academic achievement that for some reason are placed around their necks by Finstock, of all people. Scott gets called up to receive a scholarship for his athletic achievements and the rest of the team in the crowd starts chanting ‘Captain! Captain!’ which makes the boy break out in a lopsided grin.

As the ceremony comes to a close, the principal asks them all to switch their tassels over to the other side. You watch closely as they do so and chuckle when you see Malia rip her tassel straight off the cap in frustration. They are pronounced graduates and all the students stand up to throw their caps into the air. When they do so, Scott lets out a big (and fake) howl and the rest of the pack joins in. The air is filled with ‘awooooos’ and screams as the new graduates celebrate their accomplishment.

It’s hard to believe that the kids are already graduating and getting ready to head off to school. Squeezing Peter’s hand, you give him a proud smile that is reflected back at you. Then, you turn to Noah on your other side and pull him into a one-armed side hug.

“Let’s go find our boy, yeah?” You grin.

The entire group of pack family surrounding you stands up and makes their way down on the field to find the kids. You have a much easier time with it than most because Peter and Derek just smell their way on over. When you reach them, Stiles sprints straight at his father.

“I did it, Dad!” He yells, trapping his father in a tight hug.

“Of course you did. God, I’m so proud of you kid.” Noah beams back at him.

You watch similar celebrations around you; Isaac getting an awkward hug from Argent, Melissa smothering Scott, Mr. Yukimura grabbing onto Kira. Stiles lets go of his father and moves directly over to you.

“I’m so fucking proud of you too, Mischief.” You tell Stiles as you squeeze the life out of him.

Stiles gives you a huge smile and then moves past you to his next target. Sliding his arms around Derek, he pulls the man down for a kiss that receives wolf whistles from Scott and Liam. Derek looks uncomfortable but Stiles is radiating so much happiness that he puts up with the public display of affection. God, you were so glad those two had finally gotten their shit together. It had taken a month after Stiles turned eighteen but now that they were a couple they were both far happier than they were before. You wouldn’t be surprised if Derek followed Stiles to LA when he left for the FBI Academy.

The next person to make their way over to you is Lydia. You two had grown closer over the past several months and you were excited to see where the genius woman went in life.

“Congratulations, Lyds.” You say as she leans in to give you European style air kisses. “The valedictorian speech was glorious. I’m not sure whether more kids looked like they wanted to stand up and cheer or piss their pants.”

The comment makes her smirk. “That was the point, of course.”

“God, Cambridge better prepare themselves for the hurricane that is Lydia Martin.” You laugh.

“Damn right, they better. Now don’t go thinking that you can escape wedding planning with me just because I’m away at MIT. I expect Skype calls for all decisions and better be getting an invitation to dress shopping.” Lydia informs you seriously.

You beam and look down at the ring on your left hand. Peter had proposed a few weeks ago and you’d been riding the high ever since. The ring Peter got you was small and vintage with a blue-tinted stone that matched your mage eyes and Peter’s wolf eyes. That he hadn’t gone all out on some huge expensive diamond ring made it clear just how much he knew you. You’d said yes without hesitation and now Lydia brought up wedding planning every single time she saw you.

“Of course. I wouldn’t dare exclude you.” You respond with a grin.

Lydia walks over to one of her teachers and Scott is the next one to come say hi.

“Congrats, Scotty.” You tell him as you yank him in for an aggressive hug and hair ruffle. “I’m so damn proud of you, kid.”

Scott beams with that lopsided grin of his and you can tell that he’s proud of himself. He’d been working really hard to get his grades back up and at the same time working hard to learn how to be an alpha. Next year, he would be staying in Beacon Hills to continue working with Peter and Derek while also attending Beacon Tech to start his path to becoming a veterinarian. Even though you’d promised to look after Liam and Corey if he went away, his alpha instincts made him want to stay close to his pack and bitten beta.

Liam steals Scott’s attention by running up and yanking the alpha into a crushing hug. Smiling at the display, you look around at the pack surrounding you. The aura of pure happiness in the air was intoxicating and you knew that Peter could feel it too. You could almost see him smiling underneath that pesky mask of indifference.

The seniors had to leave to get to their all-night celebration but you knew you would see them soon. The pack had planned a graduation dinner tomorrow night and you already had all of their presents wrapped up and ready to go.

It was wild how quickly you’d gotten attached to these kids and their pack but you wouldn’t trade it for the world. You’d made a difference by choosing to stay in Beacon Hills and you were glad for it. Everyone was safe and happy. The kids were headed off to college or jobs, Argent and Noah had a perfected system for dealing with supernatural threats, and Derek was even rebuilding the Hale House out in the woods with Peter’s input. You pull your fiance close to your side and rest your head on his shoulder.

“We’ve got an amazing family, don’t we?” You whisper.

“Yes we do, darling. Yes we do.” Peter hums back happily, squeezing you in closer.

The two of you stand there and watch as the kids jump around and run towards their cars in excitement. It’s a happy twinge that you feel in your chest when you watch Stiles pull away in his ancient Jeep. You just can’t wait to see where this odd pack of kids find themselves in the future. Whether they return or stay away, you know that you and Peter will be there to help them with whatever they need.
