“I’ll pass.” Sebastian’s head throbbed, and his eyes were closed, yet he was sure Sam and Abigail were looking at him as he removed his arm from covering his eyes to get up and leave. This head throbbed, instantly thinking Sam’s place wasn’t the best place to practice if Abigail was going to be the drumming, or perhaps Sam’s location wasn’t good at all, regardless of who was playing the drums.
“What do you mean?” Abigail asked, pouting. “I thought you wanted me to join the band, Sebastian?”
Which—sort of, but he wasn ’t going to say that. Even if he did, he didn’t expect Abigail to pay attention to anything he said; for a while, things were fine as just friends, but there was that warning bell in the back of his mind that she wanted more.
And—she definitely overdid it on the drumming, trying to convince Sam to let her join, possibly because she saw it as a way to get to her end goal. She was, though, the only other musical person in Stardew Valley that Sebastian knew, so they were stuck with her regardless of her personal crossing boundaries Sebastian would rather her not cross.
“What I wouldn’t do for him, but I guess that means he somehow managed to become my friend despite our personalities being the exact opposite of each other.”
“It’s alright,” Sam said. “I’m beat, but we should probably meet up when we combine the keyboard and guitar where you playing the drum would reverberate in the room so much.”
“Ah,” Abigail said.
Sebastian pushed himself up from the bed and headed towards the door, saying goodbye to Sam ’s mom because that was the socially correct thing to do.
“Wait for me!” Abigail called out, walking with him.
And he was not turning away when they passed by the general store. Sebastian turned his head, glaring at her. “What are you doing?”
“I thought we could spend some time together.”
“You thought wrong,” Sebastian said, knowing full well the words were curt while also hoping they’d make her back off despite knowing full well no such thing would happen.
“Come on, Sebastian.”
“I’ve got a headache, Abigail,” Sebastian sighed. “So I really just want to get home and turn in.”
