Work Text:
"Hey, Popola?"
"What is it?"
"I think we should let Ree stay."
"Huh?"
Popola turned her head towards her, but cuddling as they were, she still could not see Devola's face.
"Weren't you against it?"
"Yes... sort of," Devola answered. "But I've... I've thought about it and – we're very lucky they haven't met or even heard of the Popola and Devola of their area. And now, they've met us, and if we send them back and they meet the twins from their area now, both of them are screwed. Let's send them a text tomorrow, tell them we're keeping Ree. And when they die, we'll send another text so they can clone them, and things will go back to normal."
Popola turned her head back to stare into the darkness ahead of her once again.
"Okay," she said with a broken voice, barely above a whisper.
And Devola knew how anxious she was. She held her tighter, much tighter, and nuzzled Popola's neck. Her warm breath on her neck. It was a reminder that they were both here, together. And as long as they were together, they could make it through anything.
Popola's grip tightened around Devola's arm. She brought her sister's hand to her lips, and kissed it. As long as Devola was here, she would make it through anything.
