The amethyst in the water

Chapter 3: Following and Finding

Summary:

Rae has gone out again. Surely, it’s not for more research. He’s leaving like all the time and I doubt that there’s actually anything out there. Even if there is I’m sure it wouldn’t cause him to need to go pretty much every single day.

Notes:

Sorry for the long wait. I’ve had writers block and I don’t really know what I’m doing with this.

Chapter Text

Rae has gone out again. Surely, it’s not for more research. He’s leaving like all the time and I doubt that there’s actually anything out there. Even if there is I’m sure it wouldn’t cause him to need to go pretty much every single day.

Rae tells me to stay out of the forest. I don’t really understand why though. I know he’s doing some research into fae but that couldn’t possibly be real. He’s just went out again. This time I’m going to follow him. I know it’s not the best idea but I’m curious, I want to know what he’s doing.

Carefully, I go through the forest path,
making sure to keep distance between us. The further that I go, the more it feels like the trees and plants and trying to trap me. Trying to keep me here. The trees tower tall over me and the plant pull and tangle around my ankles. I hold my breath as a thorn picks my leg, trying not to make sound. Wind whistles through the trees, sounding almost haunting. It’s cold against my skin, making me shiver. Almost no light gets through the leaves, leaving it dark.

Rae stops walking and sits down. Someone else is there. Why would someone else be there? Does that mean that fae are real. I shuffle behind a tree where I can see both of them. I note that the other person is short and kind of looks like a dear. Definitely doesn’t look human, that’s for sure.

“Rae, did you bring someone with you? Someone is in the trees.”

Shit. The fae is staring at me. How did he know I’m here? I made sure that I was hidden.

“No, I didn’t. No one should be here.”
“Would you like to come out.”

I step out, almost feeling as if I have to. “Athena, what are you doing here? I told you to stay home.” I step forward not looking where I’m going.
“Well, you’ve been out pretty mu-“ The fae laughs, cutting me off.
Just then I notice a circle of flowers and mushrooms surrounding the fae.
“Athena-!”

Everything goes black.
