Work Text:
There are good reasons to have chosen to fight the Reverb Ensemble on Netzach's floor, and then there are reasons why Netzach really wishes the fight was anywhere else. It's not even because he wants to get out of doing work this time - if this is the last fight, even he will put in his all. It's just that-
"Are any of you guys single?!"
The fighting hasn't even started before Evangeline is shouting across the floor, sparkles in her eyes.
It's difficult to read the reactions of the Ensemble members - of the four they're up against, only Greta and Bremen have faces as such, and not human ones - but they do pause momentarily to answer.
"I'm… not really looking to start relationships with anyone anymore? That was kind of a part of why I'm like this…" Philip sounds the most uncertain a flaming angel has ever sounded.
"I have sworn myself to a life of celibacy," Eilleen says.
Greta shrugs. "Thanks for the compliment, but I'd rather just eat you in the normal, not an innuendo way. Don't take it too personally."
"Bark bark BARK," says Bremen.
"…Was that a last one a yes?" Evangeline asks hopefully.
"They say if you both survive the fight, sure," Greta translates. "Huh. I guess we can go easy on that one for you, not like any of us care about killing the small fry."
Beaming, Evangeline turns to Netzach. "Hey Netzach, can we-"
"Absolutely not, and if we get to the next group of them, please don't ask out the clown."
"Awwww…"
