“I’m not.”
“Yes. You are.”
“ James!”
“What?” James chuckles and dodges as she tries to shove him.
“I’m not doing it!”
“C’mon, Evans! Think of how much you’ll love beating Sirius!” He has a point there. But then, she also loves beating James.
“Well, that’s there. But I still hate the cold!”
“You love the rainy cold days!”
“Yeah, but they don’t have snow! ”
“You can wear mittens, that fine?” His hands clasp Lily’s, bringing a hand up to kiss the palm.
“I hate the snow.” She pouts. The argument sounds weak even to her own ears.
“But you were just saying that you loved to see the snow falling just a few days back!”
“Yes, I love seeing the snow. Not lying in it!” Lily knows that her resolves are breaking and would definitely give in, in a few.
“You wouldn’t have to lie in it if you beat Sirius! You have impeccable aim, Lil!”
“Flattery will get you nowhere, Potter.”
“Oh please, we both know that it’d get me everywhere… after all… that’s why we’re here.” Flashes of the incident just two weeks back start playing in her head, when they had finally got together.
He leans down to kiss Lily (probably thinking the same thing) and she sinks into his kiss for a solid three seconds before she realises that her decisions can’t be swayed by a little kiss or two.
She breaks away, shaking her head.
“Okay, fine! I’ll be on your team for the stupid snow ball fight. Alright?”
“Better than alright?” He grins that thousand kilo watt smile of his.
“Just don’t flaunt it around too much in front of Sirius, okay?”
“Wait. What? Why?” His eyes gleam as an invisible light goes off in his head. “Because you want it to be a surprise! And attack him when he’s not expecting. Smart, Evans!”
Lily winces. Here goes nothing. “Well… more like… I told him I would be on his team first…”
James blinks.
“He asked you to be on his team?” He enunciates the words carefully. “That too before I asked you?”
“Oops?”
“Is that why you were saying you wouldn’t be on mine ?”
“Uhh, well… when you phrase it like that … you make it sound as though—”
“Lily! I’m your boyfriend!”
“Well, he was my best friend first! And anyways, I’m on your team now and I’d also have to endure Sirius’s snide remarks about that, so, I’m doing a lot for you, you know?”
He just shakes his head, but a teeny tiny smile threatens to break out on his face. He does look cute when he’s mad. “Unbelievable.”
“James!”
“Right right! Okay! I am thankful that you’re on my team and not that his . And now, I think we better come up with a plan and recruit more people, don’t you think?”
“Yes… that’s important… but also… I have some better things in mind that we can do?” She rises on her toes, pulling James’s face down to her lips.
