Work Text:
This is a song about political exile, or birds heading south when the winter comes. Written during the Bourbon restoration. I have podficced the whole story where I found the song, but I thought the song itself deserved an audience, too!
Original French lyrics by Pierre-Jean de Béranger in 1816, translation by Ellen Fremedon, music by Joseph-Denis Doche, singing by Luzula. You can find more information about the song here.
