Work Text:
Wednesday was being tortured by her feelings. The thought of torture usually brought her joy yet this one brings her hatred as it was being inflicted on herself and not others.
These new profound feelings for her obnoxiously bright roommate have grown too much to the point where she cannot restrain them anymore.
Her beloved roommate was outside on the balcony looking at the moon. The moon beautifully lit her face. She has been admiri-...observing her for the past few minutes and she questions if this wolf is actually a supernatural due to her lack of knowledge of her surrounding senses.
A tug shook her out of her thoughts, not by anything physical but by her own heart yearning to go towards her roommate.
A deep sigh was released as she set her book down and walked towards the balcony, to stand next to Enid.
She knew Enid sensed her presence so she didnt feel the need to announce her entrance. A comfortable tension fell between them both.
Until one of them broke it.
“Wednesday” Wednesday turned to look at the person who spoke her name. Only Enid spoke it so elegantly.
“Mm,” Wednesday kept her stoned face and tried to express disinterest.
“What are we?”
Those inevitable words. Wednesday’s heart sped up and she hoped Enid couldn't hear it.
“What do you mean” Wednesday returned with a monotone voice.
Enid's mouth opened and closed shut. Wednesday observed her features. Clenched jaw, focused blue eyes, and slightly trembling hands. She quickly looked back to the moon, waiting for a response.
“Do you like me?” Wednesday’s dark brown eyes snapped towards Enid’s blue eyes. The vulnerability in those eyes left her speechless, though she never showed it.
“Where are you going with this Enid.”
She never showed it but she was afraid of Enid’s answer. The thought of Enid seeing her more than a friend caused a weird disgusting feeling to flood her stomach, a new feeling. A feeling she never felt before, even the joy she felt when torturing someone couldn’t compare to this.
It felt like forever until Enid finally gave her an answer.
“I love you…more than a friend.” Enid's hands clenched as they began to tremble. Her eyes looked deep into Wednesday's eyes, an infinite void that she was ready to discover.
Love
Wednesday froze. Enid Sinclair likes her. With all the tension between them both, the small touches of their hands to their honest conversations, she finally told her she likes her.
She feels…joy. There was no better word to use. Yet she also feels disgust and fear.
Love
The thought of love always scared her. To find someone who knows your weaknesses and will soon become one of them. She cannot comprehend the thought of being in love with someone, or even being lovable.
She snapped out of her thoughts when she noticed the closing distance between them both. Enid’s breath brushed against her bangs as her height gave her an advantage.
Wednesday's mind told her no yet her heart tells her yes. Her eyebrows furrowed from the war going inside of her.
Enid’s soft lips slowly made their way towards Wednesdays, as if waiting for permission.
Before she could think over her next actions, her mind has already spoken before her heart.
“I don't like you” Wednesday turns her head away, not being able to look Enid in the eye after her words.
“What… I thought w-”
“You thought wrong” Wednesday glared at Enid. The pain in Enid's eyes almost caused her to break her facade. Wednesday clenched her jaw as she saw tears starting to build up in Enid’s eyes.
Her heart clenched as she turned away fully, fighting the tears building up in her eyes. She starts to walk away yet Enid grabs her wrist. Oh, why must Enid make it so difficult for her to leave? She can't bare seeing her anymore, she must find a way to make her go away.
Instead of using one of her many ways to make someone go away, she uses the less painful one. Insulting.
“Wednesday, pleas-” Enid pleads yet was cut off.
“Let go of me, dog . Who would want to be with someone as weak as you, you cant even transform” Wednesday bites her tongue after she has said those awful words to the girl she loves.
Love
Enid's broken eyes look at her, while Wednesday's eyes look back at her with hatred. Enid clenches her jaw as tears drip down her chin, then she loosens her grip on Wednedays's wrist.
Wednesday took this opportunity to leave. She never looked back at the girl who was sobbing loudly. She bolted shut her eyes and allowed one single tear to drop from the corner of her eye.
The only place where she goes to escape her problems is the library, so here she is.
Its 8 pm and the library was empty yet she sat in the farthest corner where nobody could find her. Except for a certain vampire.
“Addams.” Yoko approached her while sipping on her blood bag.
“Leave me alone or you won't have a drop of blood in your body when you wake up tomorrow.”
“Woah, I just want to talk about our little wolf” Wednesday’s eye twitched as she heard the word ‘our’. Yoko took the silence as a chance to continue.
“I know you two have only known each other for a few months, but I know what's going on. I just wanted to say that I want the best for her, and I don't want you to play with her feelings because she talks about you as if you were the one who put up the moon in the sky every night.”
Did Enid talk about her? Wednesday clenched her hands under the table as she remembered the exchange she had with Enid a few minutes earlier.
“Wednesday, she likes you a lot. So please don't hurt her” Too late.
Wednesday finally spoke up. “I can't love someone. Love is a weakness that can be used against me. Love makes people weak”
Love
“Is that true? Are you calling your parents weak? You know they love each other a lot.”
“No.”
“Your parent's love for each other makes them stronger than them by themselves. You say love makes someone weak but your parents beg to differ.”
Silence engulfed them both, Wednesday's mind was going 100 mph as the thoughts of her parents flooded her mind. Her parents were one of the most powerful people she has known in history and her life.
She cannot disrespect her parents by calling them weak, because they certainly aren't. She can't ignore the fact that her parent's love for each other did make them stronger, not weaker.
She was proven wrong.
“I heard it all,” Yoko spoke up again.
“Pardon?”
“I heard your conversation with Enid. Before you throw death threats at me, I was on the roof drinking my blood bag before you two started talking.” Wednesday clenched her jaw and turned away.
“Go talk to her.” Yoko gave her a comforting look.
Wednesday was once again having an internal fight, her heart against her mind. Yet, as the seconds went by, they finally made peace.
Wednesday stood up from her seat and headed back toward her dorm, leaving a proud vampire behind.
Now it's Wednesday hands that are starting to tremble. The thought of actually confessing her feelings to someone she truly loves.
She opens the door and looks towards Enid’s side to find her roommate, yet she was met with opened drawers that were emptied, a missing jacket, and shoes.
No.
Wednesday hurriedly grabs her jacket and heads towards the only location where she knows Enid would go, the woods.
She rushed through the woods but was met with endless trees. Her voice has become hoarse as she screamed Enid’s name.
It has been hours since she left seeking Enid. The moon glowed in the dark night as she finally saw light in the distance.
She ran closer to the source yet she slowly stopped running as faint lights of red and blue came to view. She quickly picked up her pace and ran towards the scene.
Polices were scattered across the woods with flashlights but her eyes were on the paramedics on the road.
A person was on a stretcher, a white blanket was covered over them. Yet she could see the blonde hair with pink and blue hair peeking out.
“Enid” She whispered.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a policeman yelling saying they found someone. They were running towards her with guns and flashlights.
She forced herself to look away from Enid and started to run away as fast as she could. The sound of heavy footsteps slowly faded and she looked back to see the stretcher being put into the ambulance.
Coldness began to fill Wednesday's heart. The shock from everything began to settle down and she couldn't run anymore, her legs were burning.
She slid down a tree and broke down.
If only she wasn't afraid of her feelings, Enid would still be here. If she had told Enid she loved her back, she would have been there with her in their room.
Love
Yet she didnt, and that will forever haunt her.

Wednesday's hands tightly grasp the umbrella to the point where her knuckles turned white.
She looks down at the coffin displayed in front of her, containing her dead roommate? friend? could have been lover?
The principal finally stopped giving her speech and exited the premise, following a lot of other students. Now it was only her and Enid’s coffin.
Wednesday was trying her best to not cry, but she couldn't hold it back anymore so she let her umbrella down. She let the rain drop down her face, along with her tears that disguised themselves as raindrops.
She walked closer to the coffin and softly gave a kiss.
“I should have kissed you when I had the chance.” She whispered to her lover.
Love…
