Maybe I will see you in another lifetime

Izayoi sat quietly in the confines of her room, to see Inuyasha falling asleep, his face streaked with tears over the boys making fun of Inuyasha’s silvery hair, once a source of affection when Izayoi used her fingers to comb such strands of moonlight, and how he would murmur sweet nothings in his sweet mouth.
She drank all of his beauty that she cannot cope with that void in her heart.
“Mama….”
Inuyasha finally spoke, after forcing himself to be silent over these bullies. Izayoi found her stomach twisting into a knot, just thinking if the many many many lifetimes that she and Toga could be intersected. “How…are you…my…child….” She forced herself not to show her cracking voice to her already weeping son.
“Ma….the boys said that my sliver hair is a menace for what is to come, that I am….”
Izayoi shook her head. “No my son….” She quietly comb Inuyasha’s sliver locks, quietly resigning to herself that Toga will never come out of the burning rumble and the ‘damn dragon’ quoting Toga, looking at the cloudy skies, swallowing that last drop of sake in his lips, and his smile at the cusp of Izayoi’s full belly.
“Do not worry, it…may…take a while but I will be back…I will be….”
Izayoi held these words in her heart. “I will be, my son, you just have to hold unto your heart.”
Inuyasha replied sweetly unto his mother. “Yes…mother….”, he slowly fell asleep over the silk kimono, taking small breaths in relief for that long day.
Perhaps it will be a better one for sure.
