Go hang out with her, they said.
It’ll be fun, they said.

He was surprised by the invitation at first.
Dare he accept?
He debated pretending to be lost when he knew exactly where he needed to go.
He couldn’t bring himself to.

She could see him from where she stood.
There he was.

“You came.”
He smiled at this.
“Yeah, well, I had nothing better to do.”

Bright, pale eyes seemed to catch the light of every star in the sky.

He could get lost in them.

She could get lost in those eyes, so similar to that of a dusky night sky.
She didn’t realize just how close they were getting until it was too late.

Just like her.
And that’s when they knew, they were in too deep.
None of that mattered now.

“You never really hated me, did you?”
He smiled and pulled her in for another kiss.
The stars aligned for them tonight.
