Katsuki huffed and stood up straight, patting his sweaty brow with a damp cloth. His arms ached, back red from being in the sun all day for days on end. He hardly noticed the heat on his skin anymore. His hands were calloused from his hard work, his body reflecting that work as well as his muscles broadened him. The same went for everyone working alongside him.

The houses simply weren't going to rebuild themselves.

First, they started by tearing down everything. None of the structures were salvageable after the fires and the years of abandonment. Then after tearing everything down, they saved what could be, and began to cut the nearby trees to start anew.

So far, they had managed to complete one communal home, at least the frame, the roof and the walls. A shelter. No furniture and the fireplace was only half-done. They were nearly finished with the walls of the second home, and a frame for a third was being started.

"Hey!"

Katsuki groaned, tossing his rag onto his shoulder as he turned to watch Denki jog up, panting and sweating. "Hey- the net- the ol' fishnet snapped! Wes ain't got more th'n two baskets a' fish 'fore the net gave!"

"Are yous fuckin' with me?" Katsuki huffed as he stalked towards the smaller blond. "It jus' snapped!? How!?"

Denki twisted as Katsuki passed him, heading towards the trees. "It was jus' in the water an' it gots caught on a log! Ripped right through!"

Katsuki ran his hand down his face, halting as he heard his name.

"Bakugou-!" Eijirou ran from the direction of the nearly completed home. "Bakugou, wes ain't got 'nough clay ta keep the fireplace together! It ain't gon' be finished today."

"And ya needed ta stop me for that now?" Katsuki scolded, scowl deepened, brows pinching together.

Eijirou huffed and took a deep breath. "I ain't gots no one ta gather clay right now, since yous sent 'em all ta gather more wood. So I ain't gots no one 'less yous get me some a' them back."

Katsuki grit his teeth, running his hands down his face once more. "Dunce-" he hissed through his teeth as he pointed to the younger. "Bring them fish yous already got an' the net. We'll fix us that net tonight, two baskets 'll get us through the next few days with our pickin's. Shitty-hair, grab Tetsu-Tetsu an' eye-bags ta start makin' more clay for the fireplaces." He raised his chin as he saw his mother waving to catch his attention. He groaned louder, inhaling deeply and waving off the two. Once they left, he made his way back to the houses.

Mistuki waited for him, holding a pelt over her arm.

"They done already?" He asked once he reached his dam, touching the pelt.

She nodded and raised it up to show him. "Finally completed. I wish wes had some better preservative oils, I'm 'fraid these might not last too long. Think wes could send someone ta the markets? Grab us some?"

Katsuki pursed his lips, patting down the pelt and nodding, agreeing with her. The preservative material they had wasn't the good quality they once had made long ago. "Yeah. I'll send a group tomorrow mornin'. Who'd know that best?"

"Ashido may." Mitsuki folded the pelt back over her arm. "Momo would 've, but unfortunately she's found herself a Prince." The smirk that played her lips gave away that she was happy for the girl.

"Right," Katsuki grumbled, less pleased. "What 'bout Yamada?"

"Oh, yes, Hizashi would," Mitsuki nodded as they began to walk, Katsuki looking over those working on the houses. "And little Eri would certainly love to return to the markets."

"Ahh, it ain't gon' be a day trip!" Katsuki shouted, crossing his arms as Mistiki laughed at him. "Wes need supplies, not ta show a child 'round the city!'

"Lighten up, brat," Mistuki mused, patting his arm. "Oh, also, a few of the bedframes have been finished, an' the chicken coop is completed. I met some folks on a farm who 're lookin' ta rid themselves a' some of their flock."

Katsuki huffed and wiped at the sweat on his brow. "What're wes givin' them? Wes ain't got nothin' ta trade f'r chicken."

Mitsuki nodded. "Right, I did think a' that, boy. They's got a busted fence, so I sent a few ta fix it up an' come home with them chickens."

That was a relief. Katsuki nodded and sighed as they came to a stop. The one structure Katsuki wouldn't allow them to tear down. His old home. It stood alone and in shambles. Katsuki could see all the way through the house to the overgrown gardens behind. Anything worth eating had already been plucked, seeds being preserved to plant the next year. Maybe they'll actually be able to farm the next spring.

"Bakugou! Hey!"

Katsuki groaned loudly and turned to glare as Kiyoka jogged up to them. "What now!?" He's almost regretting this whole leadership thing.

She panted softly as she slowed to a stop in front of them. "The Queen... the Queen is here."

He snapped his head up, looking behind her to see Izuku was indeed there. He was off Mighty, greeting Kota and Eri just as excitedly as they greeted him. He embraced them both, grinning and bowing his head to the other pack members approached to greet the Queen. He smiled so warmly, his Knights behind him a cold contrast as they stood back silently on their own steeds, Tenya included.

Izuku looked beyond the greeting party, his smile softening once he spotted Katsuki. He could feel his heart leaping, his throat drying out quickly.

"Oh, how wonderful a' him ta visit!" Mitsuki grinned and patted Katsuki's arm. "Don't chase him off, brat."

Katsuki grit his teeth and shot her a glare. She just shrugged and waved him off. "Go on. He is our guest, an' a very esteemed one at that."

"Shut up," he grumbled, but began walking towards his visitors.

Eri excitedly lead Izuku towards the house frames, explaining the process of building the houses as best as she could. Izuku hummed and nodded along, smiling fondly down at her.

"Incredible!" Izuku praised at her. "I cannot believe you do that all yourself!"

The little girl squealed and laughed, shaking her head. "No! I'm too little! Y're so silly!"

Izuku laughed with her, waving goodbye as Hizashi lifted her up. Izuku bowed his head as Hizashi bowed in greeting before taking his daughter away.

That left Izuku and Katsuki facing each other. Katsuki inhaled deeply, Izuku's smile softening as his hands folded in front of him. "Hello, Katsuki."

"Y'r Majesty," Katsuki greated with a respectful bow.

Izuku blushed and waved. "Oh, please, there is no need for that, really."

"Y're the Queen. I ain't gon' be disrespectful, stupid."

Laughing once more, Izuku stepped closer. "Of course, you are right."

Katsuki huffed, folding his arms. "I ain't know yous was comin'," he muttered, watching the Queen closely.

Izuku's smile faltered slightly and he tilted his head. "Oh... I do apologize, I hadn't thought to send a note beforehand. I should have, I shouldn't intrude-"

"Ain't no big deal, settle down." Katsuki sighed and shook his head. "Don't get y'rself in a twist. Jus' was surprised ta see ya. We ain't exactly guest-ready, yet."

"Well, it is moving along nicely. It is certainly very different from when I had seen it last..." Izuku looked around, admiring the houses and the frames, gaze stopping over Katsuki's old home. He hummed, then met Katsuki's eyes once more. "It's nice to see it all being brought back to life. Nice to see it become a home again."

Katsuki hummed, glancing around before sighing and rubbing his neck. "Com'on, let's get ya inside outta this heat," he grumbled and motioned towards Izuku, turning towards the nearly completed house.

Izuku laughed and shook his head, though he followed. "There is no need for that, Katsuki."

"Y'r the Queen, I ain't gon' let you melt out here." Katsuki huffed and ushered Izuku into the House. Izuku waved back to his company as Katsuki shooed everyone out.

Eijirou groaned at Katsuki as he was shoved out the door, but not before he bowed to and greeted Izuku. The Queen giggled and waved to him just as Katsuki shut the door and left the two of them alone.

Sighing, Katsuki ran his fingers through his hair, then cleared off a bench, dusting it down with his rag before gesturing for Izuku to sit.

"Oh, Katsuki, really, you don't have to-"

"Quit y'r gripin' an' jus' sit already!" He snapped back, not really thinking before he grabbed Izuku and pulled him towards the bench, sitting him down. Izuku just laughed and didn't put up anymore fuss. "There. Stay put." Katsuki tossed his rag back onto his shoulder and crossed his arms. "Now, wha's the visit for?"

Izuku hummed and folded his hands in his lap as he looked up to Katsuki. "You have been rejecting my invitations..."

Katsuki's frown deepened into a scowl, gaze shifting. "Been busy."

"Too busy for an evening at the palace..? Just one," Izuku inquired, voice soft and sounding almost hurt. Katsuki grit his teeth, unable to look back into Izuku's eyes. "I know we agreed wouldn't couldn't be together, but must you truly avoid me so..?"

"I ain't avoidin' yous," Katsuki grumbled, rubbing his neck.

Izuku tilted his head. "Then what is it..? Why not come spend just one evening with me? One evening in my palace, eating and drinking whatever you'd like?"

Katsuki pursed his lips. He inhaled deeply and rolled his head before finally looking back to Izuku. "Jus' 'cause now we ain't Hunted don't mean we ain't feared... I see them looks, now they know who I am. They know I'm the one that killed the King. I turn into a beast, an' they're still scared 'bout that. I can nae stand them looks."

The Omega frowned and stood, stepping closer. "Katsuki, it... it is of course going to be a big adjustment for everybody... it's terrible, yes, but you cannot just remove a way of thinking that has been beaten into the people for centuries... it takes time to heal, and you have to show people you are not what they used to believe. You cannot hide away amd hope for change. Katsuki, you are the change." Izuku took Katsuki's hand. "Show them what I know to be true. Please... accept my next invitation..."

Katsuki sighed, looking down to their hands. "Fine... one evenin'..."

Izuku smiled softly and nodded, giving Katsuki's hand a gentle squeeze. "Perfect... in a fortnight I'm hosting a banquet. You will have the invite in just a few days. I am sending everyone one, I promise no special treatment."

Huffing and shaking his head, Katsuki's lips broke into a small smile. "Better not give no special treatment. Just another one a' y'r peoples."

"Right..." izuku looked down. He stepped back, hands slipping apart. He patted down his vest and folded his hands in front of himself once more. "Is there anything I can do? Send you some supplies?"

Katsuki groaned. "No, dammit-"

"Yes! Please, Katsuki, it really would be nothing!" Izuku pleaded, stepping forward again as Katsuki stepped back, rubbing his face. "Please, I have had many supplies sent to many people, I would only be treating you as I am treating everyone else. I swear, even just one crate of supplies!"

Scowling, Katsuki glared outside, then slowly turned his gaze back to the pleading Queen. "One."

Izuku brightened immediately, grinning and nodding quickly. "Yes-!"

"One," he repeated, holding up his finger to solidify his statement. "Only one crate. Jus' one, I ain't taken no more."

"Yes, I will only send one!" Izuku this time grabbed onto both of Katsuki's hands, grinning brightly, his scent richly sweet, cheeks tinged pink. "Just the one crate, Katsuki. I promise..."

~

"Goddammit!" Katsuki snapped as he stormed up to the wagon, glaring and waving in a furious gesture. "The fuck is this!? I was told jus' one goddamn crate!"

The soldier that had just unloaded the wagon with Eijirou and Hanta just shrugged as he got back on the wagon, holding out a folded paper. "Just following orders, my Lord. I was told all three were to be dropped off."

Katsuki snarled as he snatched the letter, the errand boy unfazed as he ushered the horse on now that his task was complete. He shot a glare to Eijirou and Hanta, the two snickering at him as they began to pry open the first crate.

He scoffed and turned away, carding his fingers through his hair before he opened the letter from Izuku.

Katsuki,

I know we agreed on only one crate of supplies, but please accept these. Even if you do not, Togata has been instructed to not accept the crates back, so you are stuck with them.

One crate holds fabrics, for clothes, blankets and the like. Whatever you need them for, and the supplies to tailor with. The second holds stored food; dried meats, grains, etcetera. Lastly, the third and smallest crate holds supplies to teach your pack to read and write as I had done for you. Your people deserve that necessity alongside all of my people.

I hope to see you again, soon, Katsuki.

Sincerely,

Deku

Katsuki gasped at the note was snatched from his hand, Mitsuki inspecting the inscription. "Hey, old hag! The fuck?"

Mitsuki waved him off amd she squinted at the writing, sounding off the words. "Deku!?" She suddenly gasped. "That- Katsuki Bakugou!"

"Shuddup! Give it-" Katsuki grabbed the note right back, glaring at his mother. "I ain't know you can read!?"

"Since when c'n you read, brat!? An' why is the Queen addressin' his letter that way!? Is that what yous call him!?"

Blushing furiously, Katsuki crumpled the note and shoved it in the pocket of his trousers to keep it away from her. "Ain't none a' y'r business! Stay outta it! Jus' help unload the supplies he sent!"

That night, as he lay in his tent after yet another full day's work, Katsuki pulled the letter back out. He breathed in the faintest scent of apples and rain, sighing as he reread the letter. Longing gripped at him, his desire to be by his Queen stronger than ever.

~

As time went on, the 'trophies' Nobles near and far had collected for centuries were returned to the Cursed. They would light a fire for each one, letting the smoke carry weary spirits to the heavens.

When winter struck, four homes were suitable for shelter. They rebuilt their forge and tailor shoppe, with a barn in the making. They had bartered for sheep and broadened their collection of birds. Chicken, ducks, loud and smelly beasts that Katsuki demanded be locked up after one of the ugly beasts attacked his ankles relentlessly for days. They had a regular supply of eggs, and now had fresh meat accessible as well.

The well was repaired and fresh water was no longer a hassle to fetch. They also managed to get ahold of a few horses, making travel so much easier, and Katsuki's current project was the wagons. By the new year, he had one completed.

Katsuki was hesitant still to accept Izuku's invitations to the palace. He would only accept a few. The banquet to celebrate the new year was one he nearly rejected if it hadn't been for Mina.

"Yous hadn't been in two months, Kats," she had pointed out as she sewed closed a hole in his shirt that she lay over her lap as he tended to the fire. "He's jus' gon' come back down afterwards an' ask yous ta come to the next one. Yous'll get all mopey again, an' bother us all-"

"I ain't get mopey!" He snapped back and she set her work down in her lap, raising a brow at him. Katsuki scowled and turned away, ducking his head and glaring at the fire.

"Go," she encouraged, crossing her legs as she returned to her work. "It's jus' one evenin'. Y'r mom c'n handle things here f'r one evenin'."

He conceded after that.

When Katsuki arrived at the palace, he was sure to wear his red cloak. The one Izuku had gifted him the winter before. He wore his nicest winter clothing, walking into the banquet hall with his chin held high. He did notice that the more he attended these things, the less stares he got, but the ones he still would get would raise the hairs on the back of his neck.

Izuku spotted him shortly after his entrance, immediately lighting up. He grinned so wide, the corners of his eyes crinkled. He excused himself from the Lord he spoke to and gave a slight curtsey before rushing into the crowd.

Katsuki huffed and relaxed as he watched Izuku whisper apologizes, swerving through as quickly as he could until he finally reached Katsuki.

"You're here!" He gasped, wine glass in one hand as he reached with the other to take Katsuki's. "I didn't think you would come..."

"Yeah." Katsuki swallowed and shrugged, looking down at their hands. "Rejected the last few, s'posed I should come f'r this one."

Izuku nodded, then ushered Katsuki to the tables. "Come, you must be hungry! We've got plenty of food, take what you'd like."

Katsuki snorted and rolled his eyes, but he took a little plate and grabbed a few items. He listened as Izuku began to ramble beside him, catching him up on what had been going on since the last time they saw each other. He spoke of treaties and trades, even of which of his Knights were starting new relationships.

"Oh-" Izuku gasped sometime later, grinning excitedly up at Katsuki. "Before I forget-!" He grabbed Katsuki's arm and began to drag him back through the crowd.

Before he could ask why he was being pulled around, Katsuki spotted a head of half-red and half-white hair. Intrigued, Katsuki lifted his head hair to peer over the crowd, perking up more as he spotted Momo alongside the Prince.

"I am so happy you two could make it! And look who else came!" Izuku greeted excitedly, gently embracing Momo and curtseying to Shouto before stepping back to gesture to Katsuki.

The Alpha blinked in surprise, glancing down to the swollen belly Momo held. It was really only noticeable if you paid attention, which was hard not to since Momo had her hand down, holding under her belly.

Momo blushed and offered a small curtsey to Katsuki. "My Lord, it is nice to see you again," she spoke with a smile, cheeks rosy and a little plumper than normal with her pregnancy.

Katsuki cleared his throat and shook his head before smiling back and bowing. "Good to see y're doin' well. And, uh, congratulations."

She blushed more, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.

Shouto was the one who reached his hand out, smiling his soft barely-smile. "Thank you, Lord Bakugou."

Katsuki accepted the handshake before stepping back. "How's Endeavor," he asked, feeling a little awkward now.

Momo perked up a little bit, looking up to Shouto. "Oh, it is wonderful. The culture is very different, but I love the mountains. The snow lasts longer there than it does here, but I'm not too bothered by it." Her accent slipped a little bit, but she cleared her throat before grinning back to Katsuki. "We are very happy, and in spring we will have an addition to our family." She caressed her belly lovingly and as Katsuki watched, he briefly wondered how Izuku would look, carrying their child.

Katsuki quickly shook his head to rid himself of the thought, and thankfully Izuku had quickly taken over the conversation. The topic changed and Katsuki stopped paying attention as he finished off his plate. He set his plate down on the nearest table, unsure of what to do with it, and taking a glass of wine off a server's tray. He scrunched his nose, not a fan of the horrid white wine, but downed the glass anyways since he had already grabbed it. He would only tune back in whenever one of them involved him in their conversation as his gaze steadily began to drift back over to Izuku, hovering on him.

Izuku looked beautiful in this light. The sunset shining into the hall, the candlight and the firelight giving him an almost golden glow. His hair bounced with his enthusiasm, eyes sparkling, cheeks rosy. Katsuki couldn't help admiring him, taking him in, completely mesmerized.

This is why he didn't like coming to these stupid things. All he could do was gawk at Izuku's beauty. He was surprised he had yet to drool over him.

He snapped out of it and took a deep breath as Shouto and Momo excused themselves.

"Katsuki?" Izuku tilted his head as he looked up to the Alpha. "Hey, are you tired? You look flushed." Concerned, he reached out and placed the back of his hand to Katsuki's forehead.

Groaning, Katsuki leaned away and grabbed Izuku's hand. "'m fine," he grumbled, Izuku humming. His expression showed he didn't really believe Katsuki, but he wasn't going to pry.

Instead, Izuku offered a smile and grabbed Katsuki's hand. "A new song is about to play. Will you dance with me..?"

Katsuki looked over to the dance floor. He swallowed, feeling the warmth of Izuku's hand in his own, and remembered their last dance. More than a year ago. When Izuku was crying beside the wall, and snow began to fall for the first time that winter. "Yeah."

Izuku hummed, pleased and giggling as Katsuki raised his arm for Izuku to hold. Katsuki was the one to lead them to the dance floor, and when there, he stepped back, their arms parting. He bowed to Izuku, then raised his hand for the Queen to take. Izuku's smile was gentle as he accepted.

Katsuki pulled Izuku close, his other hand sliding around Izuku's waist as he lead them along to the music, looking down into soft viridian eyes. "We ain't danced in a long time..."

"No, we haven't," the Queen agreed, his other hand on Katsuki's shoulder. They moved gracefully with each other, bodies so close. Katsuki could feel his heart racing, pounding and practically leaping. Yet he also felt calm and peaceful. Izuku somehow could always do this to him. Send him spiraling, making him feel crazy, and at the same time grounded him and made him feel more safe than he ever thought possible.

Izuku is everything.

As the night carried on, Katsuki stayed by Izuku's side, even as the crowd began to thin. The sun fell beyond the horizon, sky darkening. Katsuki felt as if time was passing too quickly. He didn't want this night to end. He would have to leave again.

Even as Izuku bid farewell to the last guest, Katsuki was still there, wishing that some people had stayed just a little while longer. Just so he had an excuse to be near Izuku.

"Come, Katsuki," Izuku spoke as he looked to him, reaching out his hand. "I have something to show you."

Katsuki didn't hesitate to take Izuku's hand. They walked out of the banquet hall and through the corridor. They spoke softly, about nothing in particular. Making fun of Denki, telling Izuku about the monster duck, talking about some of the progress both of them have been making in their respective roles.

Finally, they made it out to the gardens. Izuku's favorite place. Katsuki looked around, the moonlight casting a silvery glow of the gardens. They halted in front of an empty podium, Katsuki tilting his head.

"What is this?"

Izuku smiled up at him. "Where a statue will be going..."

Katsuki looked down at him, brows pinched in confusion.

Izuku took a deep breath. "I've commissioned a statue... to commemorate the Cursed people... I want it forever etched into stone the suffering you went through, and how you overcame it. How you were able to end the genocide of your people."

Katsuki sucked in a sharp breath, looking back to the podium. "Why..?" He swallowed hard, gritting his teeth. "Yous ain't gotta do all that..."

"But I do," Izuku whispered as he stepped in front of Katsuki, hand coming up to caress his cheek. Katsuki's hand placed over his, their eyes meeting once again. "It deserves to be acknowledged... you deserve your place in history. The story needs to be told so this never happens again."

Red eyes stared deep into viridian, searching them as he's done countless times before. He feels his entire being call out to the Omega before him, screaming and itching to hold him, kiss him. Inhale as much of Izuku's scent as he could.

And now, with the alcohol in his system, the drowsiness from the late night picking at the edges of his mind, his self-restraint was weakened.

Katsuki leaned down, smirking slightly and the hitch in breath he caused in Izuku. His other hand slipped around Izuku's waist, pulling their bodies close. Izuku took a shuddering inhale, the pink in his cheeks darkening.

Slowly, gently, finally, Katsuki pressed his lips to Izuku's, closing his eyes. Izuku leaned into the kiss, hand sliding up Katsuki's chest and cupping his jaw. Katsuki sighed as he broke the kiss, just a breath apart. Their breaths mingled, little white clouds in the frozen winter air. Izuku's eyes shined as he looked up to Katsuki, and he was done for.

Both of his hands were on Izuku, holding their bodies flush together as he kissed Izuku deeply, fiercely, desperate to be closer than possible. Izuku gasped into the kiss, fingers tangling into Katsuki's hair and the fur of his cloak. Even as the winter air bit at their skin, Katsuki could feel the heat rising between them.

Months of longing, dreaming, craving crashed into Katsuki, both of them actually, as they clung to each other, Izuku whimpering in need, Katsuki returning the sound with a low growl.

"Inside-" Izuku gasped out the moment their lips broke apart, just for him to be cut off by yet another searing kiss.

Katsuki gripped at Izuku's beautiful clothes. They flattered him, making his eyes shine, showing off his shapely body, and now all Katsuki could think about was ripping them off. He needed him. Katsuki thought he might die if he couldn't have him.

"Katsuki, inside." Izuku panted as he broke their kiss, leaning back. Katsuki tried to follow, growling and glaring at Izuku, eyes glowing a dim crimson as a fingers pressed to his lips, blocking him from kissing Izuku more. Izuku's lashes fluttered, cheeks painted dark and eyes hazy from their kiss. "Let us continue inside, Katsuki... out of this cold..."

Calming down at the realization that Izuku didn't want to stop either, Katsuki nodded slowly. Izuku smiled at him, tips of his fingers trailing down Katsuki's arm, causing him to shudder.

Izuku took his hand as he stepped back, biting his lip as he began to lead Katsuki back into the palace.

However far Izuku's bedroom was, it was much too far for Katsuki's liking.

"Why?" He asked once they were back inside the Palace, walking down the dim, empty halls.

They slowed to a stop, Izuku looking back to him. "What..?"

Katsuki inhaled deeply, searching his eyes, brows pinched. "Why? Why 're yous doin' all these things..? Supplies, statues... all the gifts yous keep sendin', the invitations to y'r parties, why're you doin' all that..?"

Izuku stepped closer, facing him. He cupped Katsuki's face gently. "No amount of parties, supplies or statues is going to make up for the past... but... they pave the way to a brighter future... I just want to be helpful. I want... I want to make things as easy as possible for you because everything has been so hard thus far in your life. In their lives."

"Yous got y'r own people to worry 'bout," Katsuki muttered, clasping his hand around Izuku's wrist.

"You and your pack are my people as well," Izuku reminded in a whisper. "My other people are more easily able to access supplies and help from their neighbors. Most homes were not burnt to the ground like yours had been. They are not starting from the ground up, you are. Please, I want to help. I like to help. I can help. Please just allow me to..." He brushed his thumbs under Katsuki's eyes, smiling as Katsuki leaned into his touch.

Finally, Katsuki nodded and Izuku guided him down for a soft kiss . Katsuki sighed, hands falling to Izuku's hips to hold him close.

Izuku hummed and pulled back, sliding his hands down Katsuki's arms until he could grab his hands, walking backwards as he fluttered his lashes at the Alpha. "Are we still going somewhere private..?"

A deep growl rumbled in the Alpha's chest as he followed, nodding. "Fuck yes..."

Izuku giggled as he lead Katsuki, their pace hastening down the corridor, jogging up the stairs. Izuku squeaked in surprise and laughed as Katsuki grabbed his waist and lifted him, head slanting as Katsuki buried his face into his neck, taking a deep inhale. He bit his lip at Katsuki's low growl, holding Katsuki's hands on his waist. They stumbled further down the hall, Izuku gasping and pulling them back against the wall as he heard his guards down the hall.

He grinned as Katsuki turned him around, humming as he's kissed deeply. He grabbed Katsuki's cloak, pressing closer, Katsuki gripping Izuku's hips.

Izuku gasped softly as he was pushed up against the wall, tilting his head to the side as Katsuki kissed down his neck, nipping at the sensitive skin. The Queen bit his lip again, arms wrapped around Katsuki's neck, an impatient hand groping down Izuku's leg and lifting him, Katsuki rutting his hips against him.

"Th-they're gone-" Izuku stuttered, taking a shuddering inhale before their mouths clashed again. His hands found their way into Katsuki's hair, his body alight with rampant desire. "My room, Katsuki-" He whispered, hardly able to speak due to Katsuki's ravenous kisses. "Please, Katsuki- the room-"

Katsuki growled once more, panting softly as he finally pulled back. "Room, now..."

Izuku nodded quickly, grabbing Katsuki's hand. He lead them through, quickly, listening for the Guards patrolling. Finally, they came to his room, no one standing post outside.

The door was opened quickly and shut just as well. Izuku giggled as he was pressed to the door, a surprised moan breaking from him as he's kissed again. Katsuki reached down, gripping Izuku's thighs and lifting him up. The Queen laughed, holding onto his shoulders.

"Katsuki-!"

The Alpha wasted no time in reconnecting their mouths once again, gripping Izuku's thighs and holding him up against the bedroom door.

The room was quiet save for them, the curtains open to let in the soft moonlight.

Izuku looked so pretty, awash in silver, eyes hazy and cheeks burning red. Katsuki panted as he looked up to Izuku, catching his breath from feverish kisses.

"You," he spoke breathlessly, his heart pounding inside him, "are so beautiful... have I ever said that to ya..?"

The blush on his cheeks and the smile on his lips softened, hands sliding up Katsuki's neck to cup his face. "Maybe not in so many words," he whispered back, leaning in for another kiss.

Katsuki held Izuku up with one hand, his other sliding over his hip and up the small of his back. The Queen shuddered at the touch, sighing softly. His own hands trailed down, unclasping Katsuki's cloak and letting it pool to the floor.

Without breaking the kiss, Katsuki adjusted his hold and backed away from the door, carrying Izuku over to the bed. He set Izuku on the edge of the bed, kneeling in front of him.

"Katsuki..?" Izuku looked down to him, confused.

Katsuki just hummed, trailing his hands down Izuku's leg, watching the blush grow on his cheeks. Katsuki grinned as he pulled off Izuku's shoe, leaning over to kiss his ankle.

"What are you doing?" Izuku stuttered, voice unsure, but didn't pull away from Katsuki.

The blond set his leg down, then did the same with his other. "I... am jus' treatin' yous how yous should be..."

"How is that..?"

"Like the Queen," Katsuki snorted, causing Izuku to laugh softly, hand coming up to cover his face. Katsuki grinned wide, hands trailing back up Izuku's thighs as he stood and leaned back over Izuku.

Izuku leaned back onto his elbow to support him as he looked up at Katsuki, sliding his hand around Katsuki's neck and back into his hair. Katsuki smiled at him before kissing him deeply. Katsuki leaned over more, sliding his hand around to Izuku's back, supporting him until he lay down fully into the mattress.

They broke apart slowly, holding each other's body close. Their eyes met, dark and hazy, their scent saturating the air around them. Izuku had deeply missed Katsuki's scent in his bedroom.

"Are ya sure..?" Katsuki asked, voice hushed as their noses brushed against the other. "Are ya completely sure 'bout this..?"

Izuku smiled and cupped Katsuki's face. "More than sure..."

"I ain't want ya ta regret nothin'."

"I could never regret anything with you, Kacchan," he whispered, caressing Katsuki's cheeks and watching as he caused the man on top of him to shudder.

"But y'r the Queen... someone a' y'r stature like this with someone like me..?"

Izuku hummed and nodded. "A scandal to be sure... but I am the Queen. What can they do about it?"

Katsuki scoffed and smirked, looking down at Izuku. "A minx, yous are..."

"Maybe so," the Omega mused, reaching down between them to unbind his over-skirt from his waist.

"Oh, Gods," Katsuki groaned as he watched. Getting up on his knees to tear his tunic off over his head. He leaned back over, kicking his boots off and away as his lips found Izuku's. He scooted them further up the bed, cursing as he fumbled with Izuku's horrid corset.

Izuku laughed at him, Katsuki growling in disapproval and embarrassment as he felt clumsy trying to take the stupid piece off.

"Slower," Izuku murmured, pulling Katsuki back into their kiss. The Alpha huffed, but relaxed, hooking his finger through the lace and tugging. He pulled the lace loose as he slid his fingers further down, listening to Izuku's sigh of relief.

Katsuki tossed the thing away, far from their reach. Izuku laughed once again, shaking his head.

"Shuddup!"

"I haven't said anything!"

"Y're makin' fun a' me, I ain't never had ta take one a' those off 'fore!" Katsuki snapped back, Izuku only laughing more. The Alpha groaned loudly in exasperation, kissing Izuku deeply to shut him up.

Izuku's arms wrapped back around him, holding him close.

As eager groping turned to gentle caresses, Izuku found himself getting lost in the haze between them. Katsuki's touches were scalding, grounding, setting Izuku alight all at once. He traced his hands down Katsuki's chest, sighing as he felt along the taut muscles from his hard work. His inner Omega preened, thrilled that this amazing Alpha wanted him. Katsuki chuckled against his lips, causing him to shudder.

"Katsuki..."

"Mm..?"

Izuku swallowed hard, looking up to him. "What do I do..?"

Katsuki hummed, raising a hand to brush his knuckles gently over Izuku's cheek. "You ain't gotta do anythin'... jus' lay here an' I'll take care a' yous..."

The Queen nodded, eyes closing as he's kissed again. Hands ghosted over his hips and waist, pulling him closer, grabbing his thighs to hook his legs over Katsuki's hips. As their hips rocked together, lips kissed heavily down the column of Izuku's neck. He tilted his head back, biting his lip as little moans began to rise from his throat. His hands splayed over Katsuki's back, holding their bodies close together.

Finally, Katsuki began shedding the last items of their clothing. At last, completely bare with each other, Izuku had only a moment to be bashful about his naked body.

"Fuck, y're stunnin'," Katsuki hissed beneath his breath, mouthing at Izuku's scent gland and he hands groping Izuku's hips and thighs.

Izuku whimpered softly in response, cheeks filling with a brighter red. "Katsuki," he whispered back, fingers threading through Katsuki's hair.

Katsuki raised himself enough to look down into Izuku's eyes. He leaned in, bracing his forearm on the bed above Izuku's head as he kissed him deeply. The Omega pressed close, raising his legs as Katsuki other hand trailed up his thigh. The gentle touch had little shocks dancing across his skin, shivers running up his spine.

"Ready..?" Katsuki asked breathlessly against Izuku's lips. "Ain't no turnin' back after this..."

Izuku nodded, one hand sliding out of Katsuki's hair to cup his cheek. "I want this with you, Katsuki..."

Nodding in return, Katsuki's hand slid in between them. A soft gasp broke passed Izuku's lips, a finger slowly pressing inside of him. A strange, foreign feeling, however, not necessarily a bad one. Especially as Katsuki stroked inside him, pressing sweet, tender kisses to his lips, murmuring quiet praises.

A second finger had Izuku moaning, his back arching off the bed. His fingers curled tighter into Katsuki's hair, his head dropping to the side. The Alpha still kissed him, his neck and chest and shoulders, littering him with kisses. The fingers inside him had him shuddering and panting softly, gripping Katsuki's hair and his shoulder for good measure. As a third finger stretched him, his moans pitched higher in the back of his throat, eyes fluttering, jaw falling slack.

"Y're so fuckin' amazin', Deku," Katsuki whispered, lips brushing the shell of Izuku's ear.

"Kacchan," Izuku whimpered softly, tilting his head to bump against Katsuki's.

Katsuki trailed his other hand up, taking Izuku's hand from his shoulder to entwine their fingers, tilting his head so his lips ghosted just over Izuku's. "I love you," he murmured, squeezing Izuku's hand and removing his fingers as he felt Izuku had been stretched enough.

"I love you, too, Kacchan..."

Finally, Katsuki wasted no more time. One more look into hazy viridian eyes and Izuku nodded slightly. Katsuki leaned down, kissing him deeply. Izuku gasped into the kiss, gripping onto Katsuki tighter as he felt the Alpha slowly pushing into him, stretching his insides to accommodate.

Izuku dropped his head back, breaking the kiss with a throaty moan, brows pinched, legs wrapped tightly around the man on top of him. He panted softly, eyes slowly fluttering open once he realized Katsuki had stopped, their bodies completely connected.

He looked up, Katsuki's thumb rubbing back and forth over the back of his hand in a soothing motion as their eyes met.

"Deku..?"

Izuku nodded, fingers in Katsuki's hair relaxing. "I'm okay..." He smiled to him, bringing his hand down to cup Katsuki's cheek. "I trust you..."

Katsuki chuckled softly and placed another kiss to Izuku's lips. He reached down, grabbing onto Izuku's thigh and squeezing his hand, slowly starting to rock his hips. He bit his lip, nose brushing against Izuku's cheek with each rock of his body. Izuku clung to him, moans hushed and breathless, a repeat of Katsuki's name, switching between his nickname and given name.

He listened to Izuku's beautiful voice, placed tender kisses to his skin and lips, muttering soft, sweet nothings against Izuku's skin. Katsuki pulled back just enough to admire the Omega beneath him, shrouded in shadow and moonlight, spottings of sweat across his forehead and chest, his hair pooling beneath his head and across the sheets, his brilliant eyes only for Katsuki.

Sighing softly, Katsuki kissed Izuku deeply, inhaling his rich scent of sweet apples and fresh rain, now singed with his own scent. He liked the way they mixed so well, so warm and comforting.

He liked how Izuku felt like home.

~

Izuku sighed and shifted as he woke tangled within his sheets. He rolled over, cracking his eyes open as his hand fell into an empty space. He blinked slowly, hurt throbbing in his heart. Shuffling by the end of his bed turned his attention away.

"Katsuki?" He murmured, voice cracking with sleep as he sat up, holding the sheets up to keep himself covered.

Katsuki turned around, partially dressed with his other clothing items in hand. "Hey, I ain't mean ta wake yous," he whispered and made his way back to the bed, setting his things down.

Izuku watched him, brows furrowed. "Were you going to leave?"

"Jus' gettin' dressed. We was up late an' I ain't wanna disturb y'r rest." Katsuki sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to tuck a stray curl behind Izuku's ear. "But," he continued with a sigh, "I do gotta get back home 'fore theys start worryin'..."

Slowly, Izuku nodded, fingers curling tighter into the sheets. "Do you know when you may be able to come back..?"

Katsuki frowned, glancing away. "I dunno..."

Immediately, tears sprung into Izuku's eyes and he took a shuddering inhale. "Please... please don't say goodbye again," he pleaded, voice breaking as he grabbed onto Katsuki with trembling fingers.

"Hey, hey-" he gasped and grabbed Izuku's face, thumbs swipping at fresh tears. "Hey, don't go cryin' on me now, not after the night wes jus' had."

"You're already leaving me again, Katsuki, regardless of the night we just had!" Izuku argued back. He sobbed, pinching his eyes shut. "Please, Kacchan... stop leaving me here alone..."

Katsuki frowned deeper, stroking back Izuku's hair and shifting closer. "Izuku, I... I gotta go..." He grimaced as Izuku sobbed again, pulling Izuku to his chest in an embrace. "I told 'em I was only gon' be gone f'r the evenin'... if I ain't back soon, they gon' start frettin' o'er me. I ain't put nobody in charge f'r while I was gone, so I need ta get back an' get things sorted... but I ain't leavin' f'r good, so stop frettin' y'rself, Deku..."

Izuku sniffled into his chest, lashes matted with tears. Teeth worried into his lower lip. "Can you... return soon..?"

Swaying and humming, Katsuki rubbed Izuku's back. "Well... Wes got the mid-winter festival comin' up in six days... was plannin' on attendin'... I c'n spend time with yous then..." He placed a kiss to Izuku's head, taking one of Izuku's hand in his own.

The Queen sighed softly, watching their hands. "Alright," he conceded. "Okay... I'll see you at the festival..." Izuku sat upright, rubbing his cheek. "That's perfect, then... following the festival, I am taking a trip to discuss the terms of a treaty with two of our neighboring allies... seeing you before then would be nice..." Izuku tried a soft smile up at Katsuki.

"Good." Katsuki nodded, leaning in to kiss Izuku gently. "I'll see yous there..."

With that, they whispered their goodbyes, sharing a few more soft kisses before Katsuki finished getting dressed and leaving Izuku alone in his bedroom.

~

People dressed in their finest furs for the festival. The snow fell gently around them as people laughed and conversed, dancing around the bonfire.

Izuku smiled as he watched his people be merry, greeting everyone that would greet him. He was thrilled to see Katsuki, and not only him, but many members of his pack as well.

"You made it!" Izuku laughed as he approached, Eri quick to embrace him, Hizashi gasping and stuttering apologies as he took his daughter back.

"Of course we made it!" Mina giggled, taking Izuku's hand. "I would never miss a party! An' now I gots new clothes ta blend in better!" She winked and twirled to show off her new clothing.

Izuku would say she was anything but blending in. Mina was all color, her personality blooming onto her clothes.

However, they all looked nice. They all looked warm, in their own furs and woolen clothing. Izuku's heart warmed that Katsuki wore his red cloak and the boots he gifted him the winter previously.

He bowed his head to them, gesturing for them to enjoy the festival. He watched them pour into the crowd, only Katsuki staying beside them.

Most of the city folk moved quickly out of the way, expressions weary or concern. Izuku's heart jumped in concern, but the Cursed didn't seem to be affected by the looks. As the night pressed on, the city folk eased, included the Cursed and partied with them.

"Y're right," Katsuki muttered beside him as they watched the party. Izuku tilted his head, looking up to the blond. "Wes can't jus' keep hidin' away in the forest... we'll grow used to each other."

Izuku couldn't help his smile, especially as Katsuki turned to meet his eyes. "I'm happy you could make it tonight..."

Katsuki hummed, raising his hand so his knuckles brushed over Izuku's arm, then trailed to the small of his back. "I c'n stay tonight, if you'd have me." A blush crawled up Izuku's neck to his cheeks and ears and he hoped the biting cold hid the fact that the redness was a blush. "I c'n tell one a' the morons they're in charge 'till I get back... I ain't gotta leave 'till you do."

The Queen took in a shuddering breath as he nodded slowly. "I'd like that..."

~

The next morning, Izuku was the one to wake first, both in the warmth and comfort of Izuku's bed. Both were tangled in his sheets, their clothes a puddle beside the bed.

Izuku shifted closer to Katsuki, though the Alpha's arm was already wrapped around him. This woke him, Katsuki taking a deep breath and rubbing his face.

"I'm sorry," the Omega whispered with a smile as he looked up to Katsuki. "I hadn't meant to wake you..."

Katsuki huffed softly, yawning and shifting to lean back against the headboard. "'s alright," he grumbled, Izuku giggling as he moved to fold his arms over Katsuki's chest. Katsuki blinked tiredly down at the Queen, running his knuckles up and down Izuku's spine. "Yous look damn happy."

Izuku laughed, resting his chin on his arms. His cheeks were pickened, eyes glimmering with glee as he met Katsuki's eyes. "Maybe because I am happy," he sang softly, tilting his head.

Chuckling, Katsuki raised his hand to card his fingers through Izuku's curls. He watched as Izuku leaned into the touch, humming quietly. "I like yous like this..."

Once again, Izuku laughed, shifting closer to lay more on top of his lover. "What? Naked?"

"Oh, Gods," Katsuki snorted, but grinned and laughed along with him. "I was gonna jus' say messy, but yeah. I like ya naked, too."

Izuku hummed, tilting his head and tracing shapes on Katsuki's chest. "Well... I like this..."

"Like what?"

"This," Izuku mused and waved his hand between them. "I enjoy spending time with you... I have seen you so few times since Hunt Season ended..."

Katsuki sighed, settling his hand flat over the small of Izuku's back. "Yeah, well... things 're busy... I'm rebuildin'... gatherin' resources, settin' in a new normal... Y're the fuckin' Queen now, got y'r own set a' new responsibilities. Wes gots things goin' on. Important shit."

Izuku nodded slowly, thumb stroking along Katsuki's jaw as his fingers tangled in Katsuki's hair. "I know... I just... I cannot help but wish that I could see you more... we used to see each other almost every day..."

"Things 're different, now."

"I know that, Katsuki." Izuku's voice was quieted as he spoke, a little dejected with his sweet scent souring slightly.

Katsuki groaned and reached down to grab Izuku's ass. The Queen gasped at the suddenness, squeaking and laughing as Katsuki rolled them over. He clung to Katsuki, grinning as the Alpha heavily coated him in his own scent, kissing up his neck and jaw. "Yous stop gettin' all pouty like that first thing in the damn mornin'!"

Izuku laughed, arms and legs wrapping around Katsuki. He grinned as Katsuki looked down at him. "I am not pouty!"

"Are, too, stupid Deku," Katsuki grumbled, leaning back down to kiss Izuku deeply. His hands trailed up Izuku's waist, the Omega grinning into the kiss and holding his face.

A knock sounded at the door, Katsuki groaning again, Izuku gasping in surprise, looking back to his terrace doors to see the sun indeed was coming above the horizon.

"Your Majesty?" As Ochako's voice sounded from the other side of the door, Katsuki began smothering Izuku in kisses and held them tightly together, mumbling how they should ignore her until she left. Izuku tried to keep his giggles down as he clung to the Alpha, happily returning the kisses to his lips. "Your Majesty, the door is locked! Are you awake?"

Izuku gasped as Katsuki nipped at the skin on his neck. "Don't fuckin' answer."

"I have to," he laughed softly, biting his lip and dropping his head back as Katsuki returned to kissing his neck. "Yes!" He finally called back to his handmaiden. "Just- just a moment!"

Katsuki growled, raising himself to glare down at Izuku. "Asshole..."

"Your Majesty, we should really start right away on the preparations for your journey! You were the one who asked me to wake you early!"

Izuku giggled and blushed, covering his face as Katsuki's glare hardened. "R-Right!" He stuttered, gasping as Katsuki collapsed on top of him. "Just- give me a moment!"

"I ain't realize yous was leavin' today," Katsuki grumbled, his arms wrapping around Izuku's waist.

"I'm sorry, I forgot I asked her to come early... I didn't think you would stay last night..."

Katsuki huffed, but leaned back in for another kiss, thumb brushing back and forth soothingly across Izuku's back. "Fine... jus' one question 'fore I go."

Izuku hummed and tilted his head, carding his fingers through Katsuki's hair. "Yes?"

"Kota was wonderin' 'bout taken up a job here in the palace... Guess he likes ya 'r whatever."

The Queen giggled again, bumping his nose against Katsuki's before kissing him again. "Bring him in two weeks... I'll be returned and I will have a job ready for him."

Katsuki nodded, running his hand up and down Izuku's waist. "Alright... I should be leavin'... can't let cheeks wait 'r she might jus' break down the door."

Izuku laughed and shook his head. "Let's get dressed, Kacchan."

~

Izuku smiled as he walked down the steps from his palace, Tenya just two steps behind him. The palace gates drew shut behind the visitors, Katsuki dismounting his horse and held the reins to Kota's as the boy slid out of his own saddle.

"Oh, it is so good to see you!" He laughed as Kota ran to greet him. They embraced, Kota squeezing Izuku tightly.

"Y'r Majesty!" Kota grinned and stepped back, quickly bowing at the waist. Izuku smiled and dipped his head, folding his hands in front of himself.

"I am so sorry, y'r Majesty," Shouta hurried up behind the boy, quickly chiding him. "He was taught ta have more respect th'n that."

Izuku giggled and waved. "It is certainly no issue. He is still young and has much to learn. Tenya here is my best teacher." He stepped to the side and gestured to his Knight.

Tenya stepped up and bowed, then stood straight, shoulders squared and chin raised. "I hear I am to have a Squire. You are to be my first. I look forward to teaching you, Kota."

Kota looked up to him in awe, jaw slack. He recovered and nodded quickly, awkwardly straightening his posture, arms stiff at his sides. "Yessir!" He squawked.

Izuku covered his mouth to stifle a giggle, meeting Katsuki's gaze. He hummed happily, waving to the Alpha. He recieved a slight smile in return.

It wasn't much longer before they snuck away from Kota's celebration. Just for a moment, a moment was all they wanted in a quiet part of the palace. A place for deep kisses, whispers of sweet nothing, chuckles and giggles as they held each other close.

~

"What happened!?"

"I don't know! I had turned away only a few moments!"

"Who was watching him!? Who would know what on Earth happened!?" Izuku ran as fast as he could from the palace, rushing down the steps and through the courtyard. He had to rush passed the stables, the snow still layering the ground and slowing him.

Shoji panted beside him, shaking his head. "Tenya was watching, he may know! He's with Kota now!"

They hurried to the training yard where Izuku finally saw the scene unfold. Soldiers and Squires in training each doned a shield, the ones that did not had already escaped the field or were hidden behind an obstacle. Soldiers held their blades, one drawing an arrow, the Squire's only having their wooden swords to protect themselves.

Only Tenya did not have his sword in hand, his shield on his arm but not held in front of him. His hands were up in a surrendering gesture to the beast backing away from the weapons.

He growled and whimpered, head low, his claws tearing up the frozen ground. He was different than Izuku had last seen him, sleek, oily fur across his body, ears rounded and little, and eyes big and beady. His little tail was tucked close to his long body, fear coming off him in waves.

Izuku continued his approach, slowing as he neared.

"Your Majesty-!"

"Wait, do not continue!"

"Your Majesty, he'll kill you!"

Shouts for him to stop became panicked as he came up behind Tenya. He met the beast's eyes, one hand over his chest as he placed his other on Tenya's shoulder. His Knight looked to him. "Get them out of here... they are frightening him..."

Tenya nodded, turning away and shouting at the Soldiers and Squires to back away.

Izuku took careful steps closer, the beast cowering and whimpering, but Izuku smiled and raised his hands. "It is alright, Kota... I am here, now... no one is going to hurt you..."

Kota whimpered again, low to the ground. Izuku knelt in front of him, holding his hands out. Quickly, the Shifted form shrunk and changed until it was a boy again. A boy that sobbed and rushed into Izuku's arms.

"I-I didn't know I could-" he gasped, clinging to the Queen as he trembled. "I didn't- I ain't know- I'm so-"

"Shh, shh," Izuku hushed as he swayed, rubbing Kota's back. He removed his cloak to drape over the boy's naked body, tucking it close around him. "You are okay, now... I've got you, alright? I'll send right away for your family."

As he soothed the boy, he looked back to Shoji and Tenya. Both nodded, glancing to each other before Shoji hurried up the hill to prepare to leave.

~

"Kota!?" Hizashi's voice rang loud through in infirmary as soon as he burst through.

Izuku stepped out from behind the curtain that hid him and the boy away, Hizashi and Shouta quickly rushing to him.

"Oh my God!" Hizashi sobbed as he quickly grabbed the boy, looking him over before embracing him, Shouta doing the same much quieter.

The Queen only looked away as his arm was grabbed, gasping as Katsuki pulled him away. "Kacchan-!"

"What the f*ck happened?" He hissed, holding Izuku tightly, only the widened eyes giving away he was fearful and not furious.

Izuku took a deep breath and guided Katsuki out of the infirmary, closing the door to give them privacy. "He shifted, Katsuki."

"That's impossible!" He shouted, Izuku wincing at the sheer volume. "Hunt Season ain't for two months! He could not 've shifted now!"

"But he did," Izuku spoke again, keeping his voice calm as he placed a hand on Katsuki's arm in an attempt to be comforting. He could smell Katsuki's distress in the smoke of his scent. "He shifted during training. Some of the other Squires were taunting him... calling him names... they are being dealt with accordingly, but because of that, he said he wished he could shift and beat them... and he shifted..."

Katsuki panted softly as he looked down into Izuku's, searching them before turning away and running his hands down his face. "Shifted... outside the Hunt..."

Izuku sighed as he watched the Alpha. They were quiet a few more moments, Katsuki's hands in his hair. Izuku stepped closer. "He... he looked different as well."

Katsuki turned, brows furrowed. "How?"

The Queen shook his head as he thought back to the incident. "It was different. It was... he looked like..." Izuku's teeth worried into his lip as he thought, looking back up to Katsuki. "He looked like an Otter. Like a large otter. Nothing like his shifted form from last Season. He has fur now, and a tail, he looks like an actual animal, just... larger."

"An otter?" Katsuki muttered, a scowl coming over his face as he looked away. "He looks like... an animal... a normal animal?"

"As normal as an otter the size of a wagon is..."

Katsuki scoffed, looking back to the infirmary door. "How... c'n this be possible..?"

Izuku reached out once more, taking Katsuki's hand. "Maybe it is... just another part of the Curse breaking. You took control of the Shifted Forms during Hunt Season, so maybe the Forms are no longer confined to a certain period of time. And now that the forms are yours, now that the Curse has no more control, your Shifted Forms are shaping to that. I don't have all the answers, I can only draw from what I know already, and... I had already been seeing the changes in some of you during the last season. You had also begun to grow fur. Your form was also changing."

"That's crazy," Katsuki murmured, looking down to their entwined hands.

"Maybe so," Izuku nodded in agreement, stepping closer. "However... it is the reality of the situation..."

Katsuki sighed, shaking his head and closing his eyes. He moved closer, closing the distance between them as he embraced Izuku. Izuku hummed, holding onto the Alpha. He rubbed his back slowly, breathing in the smokey scent that was beginning to calm down.

Izuku reached up, tangling his fingers into Katsuki's hair. "Maybe this is a good thing, Kacchan..."

"How c'n this be good..?"

Taking a deep breath, Izuku pulled back and placed both his hands on Katsuki's cheeks, smiling at him. "It shows that you have more control over you Shifted Forms, being able to shift outside the season. And since they... hopefully will look more... normal, or recognizable, the people will be less inclined to fear you," he explained softly, brushing back Katsuki's hair away from his face.

Katsuki hummed lowly, looking down at Izuku. "I... s'pose so... I should go in... see the kid."

Izuku nodded and stepped back, opening the door for Katsuki. "Of course... let us know if he needs anything."

~

Things really settled down after that. Kota returned to his training and Squire duties a week later after spending time back home, recuperating from the incident. One week after that, he shifted once again in training, this time on purpose. The others were in awe of his Shifted Form and he kept using it to show off to the other kids. He wasn't picked on again, either.

Since then as well, Izuku had heard the the others were starting to shift as well. Sometimes he would hear a howl in the distance, different from the ones he used to hear. Less guttural, less raw. More smooth and natural.

He saw Kacchan one night as he stood on his terrace after preparing for bed. At first, he was wondering why in the world a wolf traveled so far from the mountains, but those rich crimson eyes gave him pause and he realized he was far too big to be a wolf. Kacchan stood within the trees, covered in shadow, but Izuku was sure if he stepped into the light of the sunset, his flaxen coat would shine gold.

Izuku smiled softly and waved, leaning into the railing. "Hi, Kacchan..."

Kacchan's ear twitched, and Izuku wondered if he had heard him. Kacchan then bowed his head and disappeared back into the forest.

At the time, Izuku didn't realize he then wouldn't see Katsuki again for months.

The next banquet was just a few weeks later. It was Hitoshi and Mina that were there in Katsuki's place.

"Is Katsuki attending," Izuku asked hopefully, a twinge in his chest as he looked passed his guests to the door.

"Not tonight, y'r Majesty," Mina curtsied, but was clearly distracted by the golden decor around the hall. "He had urgent matters to attend to at home."

Izuku's smile tightened. "I see..."

Hitoshi bowed at his waist. "Lord Bakugou sends his regards."

"Thank you... please, enjoy, I am thrilled you were able to make it tonight." Izuku lead them inside, trying to shake off his hurt. "Dance, eat, drink, whatever you would like. Please, do not hesitate to seek me out if you need anything."

And it was the same for his next Gala. Katsuki did not show. He had urgent matters to attend to. And he was not there as the markets opened as spring approached. Their booths were expansive this time around. After only a year, so much work had been done. Pelts were hung up for sale, tools and weapons, even spices Izuku had not heard of curated from their own gardens. Izuku can only imagine what next year's markets would look like from the Cursed folks.

Denki Kaminari was the one who had let it slip to Izuku that they were opening trade with another kingdom, bartering with them and entertaining a deal with another.

Izuku was so terribly happy for them, for this life was drastically different from the one they had just only one year previous.

Yet he longed to see Katsuki, and he couldn't understand just why he did not come around anymore.

~

Hunt Season came, and it was as if it was any other time. The people mingled like normal, as they had done the last few months. What shocked him and some others was seeing a massive bear lugging in supply for his booth. He shifted just behind the booth and came jogging out, tugging on a pair of pants and grinning as he waved to Izuku. "Hey, y'r Majesty! Good mornin'!" Eijirou called out before he bowed.

"O-oh," he stuttered, but laughed and waved back. "Good to see you have found a use for your other form!"

Eijirou laughed back, hands on the back of his head. "It's easier th'n usin' 'em carts an' wagons! Faster, too!"

Izuku shook his head, smiling wide. "Efficiency is a wonderful thing."

"I ain't know what that means, but I agree, whate'er it is!" He turned and helped his packmates unload the supply he brought in, laughing with them and continuing like normal.

And it was nice to see the peace over all of his people. No more hushed voices and people steering clear of the trees. No one brandishing weapons they didn't know how to use, no more turning away those that may be Cursed. The ones that had their prejudices before and carried them after were silent for most thought the Queen held favor for the Cursed folk. And he supposes in some ways, he does.

"Y'r Majesty?" Kota leaned forward in his saddle and tilted his head as their horses walked down the cobblestone streets.

Izuku turned to smile at the Squire. "Yes, Kota?"

He shifted in his saddle, brows furrowed. "Yous jus' had this strange look on y'r face... like yous was sad."

"Kota, you do not tell the Queen he is making faces!" Tenya snipped quickly with a wave of his stiff hand.

Izuku laughed and shook his head, waving to Tenya. "He is fine! Really, Tenya, no need to be so uptight. Anyhow, Kota, I am alright." He smiled back to the boy once again. "I am just thinking of the festival I am throwing in honor of your people. I still have many preparations to make by the end of the Season..."

~

The festival took place over three days. The final threes days of what would have been the Hunt Season. Izuku welcomed the Cursed people into his palace, the ones that came. The rooms prepared for them to stay in if they chose to, had breakfast and dinners of feasts and activities through the day. Izuku isn't sure how he managed it, but he was able to almost entirely avoid Katsuki.

Izuku hosted the event, attending each segment. Katsuki attended every one as well to watch his people and was in dragged into a few.

It was hard, seeing Katsuki again. Instead of the joy he felt all those times before, Izuku now felt sad and hurt. Katsuki looked different. He had tanned a little more again as he was back to working in the sun, his hair cut short, sheared in the back with his hair spiking on top of his head with a red talon-shaped piercing in his left ear. He still wore that red cloak, but it did nothing to make Izuku feel better.

He asked that if Katsuki were to approach his room in the evenings, Tenya standing guard would tell the Lord that Izuku is not yet in his room for the night. The first night he did not come, but Tenya reported that he had on the second night.

Izuku isn't sure what he wanted, but his heart ached. Katsuki has said goodbye and left Izuku alone so many times that he is not sure he can take even one more. He done being hurt.

~

"Y'r avoidin' me."

Katsuki almost felt bad at the way Izuku startled, jumping with a gasp, twisting with wide eyes to look up at him. Katsuki pushed off the wall, arms crossed as he closed the distance between them. He stopped when Izuku took a step back, hands drawing up to his chest. "Why're yous avoidin' me?"

"I am not-" Izuku stuttered, clearly caught off guard and cheeks flushing pink in embarrassment.

"Ya clearly are, or four eyes wouldn't a' lied ta me last night 'bout you bein' in y'r room." Katsuki narrowed his eyes, Izuku's widening a little more. "I heard ya in there with Cheeks... Now either he said yous wasn't in there 'cause he ain't want me in there, or 'cause you ain't... and the ways yous been actin' the last few days got me thinkin' it was you..."

Slowly, a frown fell on Izuku's face, fists closing at his sides. "You are the one avoiding me, Katsuki," he spoke with his voice low, the statement taking Katsuki aback.

The accusation had been been turned on him. His brows furrowed. "'Scuse me?"

"You have, have you not? You have not been here in months. I have had no word from you other than those you send on your place telling me you are attending urgent matters. That is all. I hear of all your plans from Kaminari, Mina tries placating by saying you will be here the next time, yet you never are. Hitoshi will keep me distracted with chatter of the spring season and plans for the year, and not one single word from you. Not since Kota's shift. Do you know how many times we have seen each other since the end of the last Hunt Season? How many times we have seen each other in the last year? Katsuki, we have seen each other a mere nine times. Nine times. There have been more months than that in between now and then, when before the last season, we saw each other nearly every day..." Izuku took a deep breath and patted down his blouse. Katsuki watched him closely, shoulders stiff. Izuku's expression softened as he looked back to Katsuki. "But I think this time apart has been good... it made me think..."

Katsuki's scowl deepened, fingers squeezing into his biceps. "Think what?"

Izuku smiled softly, sadly. "That you were right, Katsuki."

"'Bout what..?" Katsuki wasn't sure he wanted to know the answer. Yet, he had a sinking feeling he knew exactly what Izuku was about to say.

"That we distract each other," Izuku murmured, Katsuki's own words whipping around to bite him in the ass. He took a sharp breath, Izuku continuing. "You were right, then. We do distract each other. We have our responsibilities to our people we must fulfill. I am Queen now, I have a Kingdom to care for and you have your home to rebuild, a trade to run. I understand now what you had meant. Now, please," Izuku plastered on a smile that made Katsuki's gut tighten. Izuku's scent was muted, so he couldn't tell just how much Izuku was feeling. "Please enjoy the rest of the festivities. They are for you and your people, after all." He curtsied to Katsuki before turning and walking away.

Katsuki took in a sharp breath, brows pinched as he took a step after. "Izuku-" he called quickly, but his voice broke off.

The Queen turned partially back to him, halting in his steps. "Yes?"

Swallowing hard, mouth and throat running dry as he tried to search those guarded eyes. He opened his mouth, hesitating just a moment before he could speak. "I'm... sorry..."

"Oh." Izuku shook his head, another sad smile on his lips, his gaze soft. "Oh, no, please. Don't be. I should say that I am sorry. I had pushed for something and I had known you were not ready. I knew we were too busy, and yet I let myself get caught up in a fantasy. Like you said, we distract each other. I just would not allow myself to believe it for a long time." He curtsied again, clasping his hands together in front of himself. "Please, if there is anything you need, do not be afraid to let me know, or have someone who represents you bring me the message." He gave one final smile before returning to the depths of the crowd.

Katsuki was left behind on the outskirts, where the crowd was thinnest. His arms fell by his sides, hanging uselessly as he watched on blankly.

"That... ain't look like the conversation yous was plannin' on," Mina spoke softly as she approached, cradling her glass of wine in both hands as both her brows pinched in concern.

He couldn't see Izuku anymore, the crowd too thick. His scent was gone, too many people filling the hall with their stenches. He swallowed, fists closing. "It wadn't..."

Mina placed a gentle hand on his arm, trying to meet his gaze. "What happened..?"

Katsuki took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment. "Nothin' I ain't deserve..."

"Oh, Katsuki," she whispered, squeezing his arm as she moved closer.

He shook his head and brushed her hand off. "Don't yous go worryin' 'bout me, now. It's a party, fuckin' act like it. Go on, dance 'r whatever. I'm fine."

"You 're not fine," Mina argued as he finally met her eyes. "Was you ev'n able ta bring it up at all-"

"Hush y'r voice down!" Katsuki scolded with a flick to her forehead. She gasped and reeled back, covering the fresh red spot. "Look, it's done, he said what he had ta say, alright? Now, get on out there an' have some damn fun."

"But-"

"Ain't no buts," he quipped and grabbed her wrist. She yelped as he dragged her through the crowd, towards where the dancing was happening. "Look, I'm joinin' in, yeah? Wes can talk 'bout it later, but f'r now, we celebrate." He flashed a grin at her, letting her go to cross his arms. "Don't fuckin' keep frettin' y'r own self o'er nothin'."

A worried, but relenting smile came to Mina's face and she nodded. "Okay... only as long as yous 'll talk 'bout it with me later."

Katsuki sighed, shoulders drooping. "Alright. Later."

She hummed, taking his arm once more as they continued to the dancefloor.

He stayed in the midst of the partying, smiling, laughing, allowing himself to be pulled around by his packmates. However, as the night drew to an end, Katsuki found himself wandering the halls. He made his way outside, stopping in the gardens. He stared at the statue Izuku had commissioned. It was Masaru's shifted form, but not as Hisashi had it. He wasn't towering over, snarling, claws out. Instead, he was sat, staring forward. There was a softness to his eyes, a softness that had tears coming to Katsuki's own. He has no idea how they could have captured Masaru so well, especially in stone, but it made Katsuki remember him.

Katsuki reached onto his pocket. His fingers curled around the little box inside, thumb running along the seam.

"How did ya do it?" Katsuki muttered to the statue, a single tear slipping down his cheek. "How'd yous an' mom make it work..? How'd... how do I fix this..? Dad, how c'n I fix things with Izuku?" His hand clenched tighter around the box. His eyes pinched shut and he dropped his head. "How can I be a good leader an' love him at the same time..? Please, dad... how did you do both so easily..? Dad, I need y'r help..."

~

Katsuki attended more of Izuku's events. His heart ached each time Izuku didn't light up at the sight of him, but the sting became easier to deal with over time. He started to chat more with the Lords of the land, even struck up conversations with the Lords of other kingdoms. He liked when Shouto and Momo would attend these events, though it wasn't often. He got to meet their child, a beautiful girl that thankfully did not bare the mark of her dam's people and drew more from Momo's characteristics than Shouto's.

Through his conversations at these events, Katsuki was able to open avenues he never thought of. He was able to start deals, make trades, create a name for himself aside from 'Lord of the Cursed.' He strengthened his people, built this better life for them, a life that they would never have dared to dream of before. In no time were they traveling to sell their wares, gather supplies and produce they never had access to before, meet new people, learn new things.

He never got much chance to speak to Izuku, though. The Queen was far too busy hosting. Far too busy doing the same thing Katsuki had been. Conversing to build his kingdom. He did much the same for his people as Katsuki had. Izuku was a far different leader than Hisashi had been. He was not boastful nor was he greedy. Izuku shared what he had, but also bartered for something in return. He was very much about an equal give and take relationship. He strove for something that benefited both ends of the deal.

Katsuki enjoyed watching Izuku work his way through the crowds, watching how he carried himself, how he smiled and chatted, how he shimmered in his pretty jewelry that was complimentary to him but not nearly as extravagant as Hisashi would have had him wear. It was always so simple. A plain necklace, sweet earrings to match and occasionally a silver band in his hair. Maybe a ring or two, usually ones that had been gifted to him.

Izuku simply glowed in his role of Queen. He took to it naturally, and the people loved him. The people looked up to him. His Knights and Guards were deathly loyal, royals of other Kingdoms asking him how he can be so successful in such a short time, especially without a mate at his side to rule with him.

Still, even with all his pride at seeing how Izuku came along, how strong and just he was, how kind and how smart and just how great he is, Katsuki still feels that awful nagging. That wish to have Izuku to himself again. That desire to hold him and kiss him, hide away in their own bubble once more.

He longed for Izuku, yearned to be at his side, in whatever way he could be.

~

"I just don't understand," Izuku sighed deeply, brows furrowed as his fingers pinched the bridge of his nose, Tenya following him inside of office. Tenya shut the door behind him, holding a folded letter in his hand. "Why, after all this time? Everything has been going so well, they have not had any complaints until now!"

Tenya hummed as he watched the Queen. Izuku patted down his blouse and sat in his chair, slouching and rubbing down his face. "It is a deeply ingrained way of thinking, your Majesty," he responded, clasping his hands together behind his back. "I am honestly surprised it has taken this long to come back."

Izuku looked out the bay windows of the office room, the windows showing him the lower city and how it bustled in the sunset. Late spring meant the markets were busy all day. Merchants from out of city and kingdom, fresh fruits finally ripe for picking, young and delectable meats, newly sheared wool, all of it. Anything you can think of. Izuku was deeply proud of the growth in his markets since he has taken his role as Queen. He is proud of the growth in his kingdom overall, not just the markets. Over the last three years, Musutafu has come to no longer be known at the Kingdom on the shore that provides a monster hunt. He's a seaport kingdom, providing respite for sea travelers. Merchants come from far and wide to sell their wares, he throws lavish banquets for the Lords of distant lands to share in his wealth and prosperity and form trades unlike any his father had.

Musutafu is thriving under his leadership. So why must this be thrown in his face now?

"For three years, I have been doing my job perfectly fine without a King," he muttered, looking back to Tenya.

The Knight nodded. "That is true. Maybe it is not as they are making it seem. Maybe it is not that they wish to commute with an Alphan King when they are bartering and partying, Maybe it is that they wish to share your fortune on a deeper level... Maybe it is that they wish to marry you themselves, take the spoils of your success for themselves. Be the King of a successful kingdom you built."

Izuku groaned. "I am simply not going to marry someone so they can have my kingdom's things. A marriage should be equal, surely they must realize that."

"They do say they are going to be backing out of their treaties if you do not chose a King soon, your Majesty."

The Queen grit his teeth, carding his fingers through his hair. "Even Takeyama..?"

"Yes..."

Izuku cursed and took a deep inhale. "I need her iron and lumber... She's seriously considering dropping the treaty simply because I do not have a King..?"

Tenya sighed and stepped closer. "Your Majesty, if I may... you have been lonely..." He spoke carefully, concerned he may be speaking out of turn.

Frowning deeply, Izuku turned away from the windows to look at his Knight. "I am not alone."

"I did not say you were alone," Tenya shook his head, voice low, "I said you have been lonely... ruling a Kingdom is a burden that should be carried by a King and a Queen, and you, while you have been doing a great job, you have been shouldering that responsibility alone..."

"My father ruled alone for a very long time."

Tenya sighed again and nodded. "Yes, but he relied much more heavily on his advisors than you do... You have taken the task upon yourself. You do not delegate away your responsibilities. You do not have the emotional support other rulers have."

Izuku looked away, his thumbnail resting between his teeth as he chewed anxiously. "Tenya, it is not so simple-"

"Look, Izuku" Tenya stepped around the desk, crossing his arms as he stood in front of his Queen. Green eyes flicked to look up at him. "Simply humoring their demands would settle the debate. Just announce you are searching for suitors. Suitors will come, pamper you, offer you things, make attempts at courtship, all the stops. All you do is entertain them. You do not have to accept any offers of courtship or proposals, just show you are willing to hear them out. Perhaps, somewhere down the line, there may be someone you could see yourself sharing the throne with."

Closing his eyes, Izuku turned away, chin on his knuckles and his elbow resting on his desk. He sighed through his nose. "I suppose... it couldn't hurt to show an interest... if it keeps those treaties in tact..."

Tenya reached over, placing a hand on Izuku's shoulder. "I'll send word of your search as soon as you are ready..."

Izuku nodded, opening his eyes. "Send word in the morning... I don't want to take chances by waiting any longer..."

~

Katsuki lifted the bushel of wheat over his shoulder, huffing as he carries it up the hill and towards their mill. He handed the bushel off at the door to Hitoshi, both greeting each other with slight nods and indifferent expressions. He was exhausted from his days in the fields. Today the wheat field, yesterday he sheared the second half of sheep, the day before he spent repairing one of the roofs. Each day was just one issue after another, each needing done just as much. Of course he wasn't tending to these issues on his own, but it all was hard work needing done my multiple people.

As leader, he can't just sit back and command everyone else to complete these tasks if he's unwilling to do them himself.

He patted his brow with his tunic, dabbing away at the sweat. It wasn't yet hot enough for him to just toss the shirt, but it was close. So he wore an old, loose tunic, the collar cut low, sleeves cut to just below his elbows. His trousers were loose as well, tucked into his leather boots, tied by a belt at his hips. He looked just like anyone else from his pack. He didn't want to stand out from them, especially when among them. He is one of them, his title does not change that.

"Hey, Bakugou!"

Eijirou jogged up, panting softly as he gestured over his shoulder with his thumb. Katsuki turned toward the red head, hands on his hips and raising a brow. "What, Shitty Hair?"

The red head grinned as he slowed to a stop. "Got a visitor. Iida's here, says he gots a message."

Katsuki's brows furrowed. Tenya never comes by unless accompanying Izuku. Usually a messenger comes by with invitations to banquets and festivities. He stepped out into the cobblestone street, out of the alley by the mill. Tenya stood at the other end, alone, holding his horse as he spoke politely with Mina.

Mina bounced on her toes as they spoke, laughing as Tenya remained indifferent. Katsuki approached, and they were simply discussing the weather.

"Hey," he grunted to catch the Knight's attention.

Tenya looked up, straightening his posture before he bowed. "Lord Bakugou, I have come with news." He flicked a folded note from his breast pocket, holding it out for Katsuki to take.

Unsure and confused still, Katsuki took the note as Mina skipped to his side, trying to get a peek as he opened the note. His breath caught in his throat, eyes widening a fraction.

"He is searching for a suitor, Lord Bakugou," Tenya stated as if Katsuki was unable to read the note he had been handed. "He wants these sent out this morning. I have held off until I could get this to you."

Katsuki swallowed hard, Mina gasping in surprise. "He's truly lookin' f'r a suitor?" She looked up to Katsuki to gauge his expression. "Why, after all this time..?"

Tenya took a deep breath. "He has allies attempting to back out of deals because he is an unwed Queen. The old ways are creeping back. They wish to discuss things with a King, now."

Katsuki grit his teeth, crumpling the note. "Bullshit. He's better th'n the lot of 'em!"

"That does not matter to them."

Mina placed a hand on Katsuki's arm. "What 're yous gonna do..?"

Katsuki looked away, pinching his eyes shut. "Ain't nothin' I can do... he's Queen, he c'n do what he likes..." Katsuki waved over his shoulder as he turned to walk away, shoving his hands in his pockets.

Mina's hands clasped together over her chest as she watched him walk away, his head low. She turned back to Tenya, who seemed to have a concerned crease in his brow. "His Majesty is truly acceptin' suitors..?"

Tenya took a deep breath, fixing his expression as he looked to her. "Yes. I advise you to convince Lord Bakugou to present himself to the Queen..." Tenya turned away and mounted his steed. "I hope I have not made a mistake..."

The last part was muttered beneath his breath as he turned his steed away to trot back into the forest, but Mina caught it. She tilted her head as she watched him ride off, wondering what he could have meant.

~

Izuku and Ochako looked up at a knock on his bedroom door, sharing a glance and shrugging to each other. "Come in," Izuku called out, dressed for the day and only having his hair done before he was ready.

Tenya opened the door and bowed. "Your Majesty."

The Queen chuckled and waved for him to stand straight. "Good morning, Tenya. Is something going on? It is quite early and I do not believe there were plans today."

Shaking his head, Tenya clasped his hands behind his back. "No plans, your Majesty. A visitor."

Izuku raised a brow, waving off Ochako after she places his earrings. "A visitor? So early?" He stood and patted himself down before folding his hands together in front of himself. "Alright, let us greet our guest."

Tenya walked beside Izuku, Ochako hurrying off to finish her other duties for the morning.

They walked in a comfortable silence, Izuku still relaxed from slumber. He hummed idly, then looked to Tenya. "I think I would like to go for a ride today. Maybe hunt? Sounds quite enjoyable, don't you think?"

The Knight chuckled and tilted his head. "I can put together a hunting party if you would like, Izuku."

Izuku grinned and nodded, looking ahead. "Very much so. It has been a while since I've gotten my hands dirty. I think I'd also like to tour the markets today."

"You just toured the markets last week, your Majesty."

"And I would like to do it again," the Queen mused as they came to the throne room door. He tilted his head, brows creasing slightly at a faint scent of smoke. That was strange. It is warm and it is bright outside, so they really should be no flames. "Mm, well," he sighed, clasping his hands together, "that is just what I would like to do."

Tenya shook his head with a smile as he waved to the Knights at the throne room doors, bowing his head. The Shifted as they began to open the doors for them. "Anything else you would like to do today?"

Izuku looked up in thought with a soft hum, walking through the open doors with him. "Let's see. Hunting, touring the markets, that seems like quite the busy day already. Oh, perhaps we could go down to the shore today? I have been sent word that Prince Todoroki will be coming by on ship and staying for rest as he travels down the-"

Red flashed in the corner of his eyes, causing him to halt. He turned his head quickly, eyes wide. There he stood, Katsuki Bakugou, looking down into the courtyard from one of the many tall windows lining the throne room. He turned to look at Izuku, slanting his head, his hands in the pockets of his trousers.

As Izuku met his eyes, he was taken back to when he first saw Katsuki in the markets, nearly four years ago now when he had returned from the mountains. Katsuki looked so different now. Carried himself taller, stronger, more confident. His skin was darker from no longer lurking through the shadows, his body bulked to show his days of hard work. He had matured, grown into his role as his pack's Alpha, and all Izuku could see was the young, dirtied man he would meet secretly with as he fell in love with him.

"Katsuki," he finally spoke in a soft gasp, feeling so surreal as the Alpha stood not so far from him. He hasn't had a real conversation in who knows how long now with the other man, and his heart leapt inside his chest.

Katsuki rocked back on his heels before he turned fully from the window and sauntered over. "I heard... yous was finally searchin' f'r a suitor, huh?"

Izuku blinked slowly and wide-eyed at him. "That..." He trailed off, gaze traveling over to his Knight.

Tenya bowed as he stepped back. "I will leave you two to discuss things," he muttered and left the hall, helping the other Knights to close the door.

Then Katsuki and Izuku were left alone.

Very alone.

They haven't been alone together in over two years. Izuku could feel his heart racing, hesitating before he looked up to the Alpha. "So... you heard... why are you here, if I may ask..?"

Katsuki raised his brow at Izuku, scowl deeply etched into his face. "Really..? It ain't obvious?"

Izuku frowned, raising his chin. "Katsuki, we haven't talked to each other in two years. Nothing is obvious about you visiting me concerning suitors the day I have sent word out. You are even apparently the only one that knows so far, which it seems I am going to have to discuss with my Knight."

Huffing, Katsuki ran his hand through his hair, glare sharp as it pointed down into Izuku's eyes. "Izuku, I jus'..." He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. His shoulders drooped slightly and his lowered his head. When he opened his eyes, they were softer, reminding Izuku of late nights tucked away in their cave, making his resolve falter. "I jus' wanted to talk 'bout... us... I know right now, there ain't much ta discuss, but there used ta be."

Izuku glanced away to nothing in particular. "Used to be, Katsuki... nothing anymore. You made it very clear that nothing could ever become of the two of us. I just wish I had listened to you sooner before we had gone as far as we did..." His last sentence was only but a whisper as he closed his eyes to calm himself.

Katsuki grimaced at Izuku's quiet words. "You..." Katsuki pursed his lips, taking a breath as he pulled a little box out of his pocket. "This was meant f'r you..."

The Queen furrowed his brows, looking to the little box. His eyes flicked up to see the hesitant sincerity in those crimson eyes before he looked back to the box held in the palm of his hand. Izuku reached out, carefully taking the box. He pulled apart the twine, holding the box in his own palm. He lifted the lid and gasped, his eyes widening.

Emeralds and rubies lined a silver chain like pearls, starting separate at the clasp, the gems gaining size as they came together, the two beads in the middle swapped so one emerald was amongst the rubies and one ruby was amongst the emeralds.

Izuku looked up to Katsuki with tears in his eyes, brows furrowed in confusion.

"I was makin' this," Katsuki muttered, hands back in his pockets, his eyes on the necklace. "First two invitations I missed, I was out sourcin' the gems... I wanted ta come see ya, but I kept hearin' yous was busy... an' then some a' the pack got sick, and it ain't feel right ta leave 'em to go to a party, then it was jus' one excuse after 'nother... an' I wadn't able to come see yous again 'til that festival..." He swallowed hard, gaze rising to meet Izuku's. "I had... wanted then ta ask if I could start officially courtin' yous... an' I was gon' present this necklace ta show yous I meant it."

The Omega took a shuddering inhale, closing his fist around the twine in his hand as he searched Katsuki's eyes. "Truly?" He stuttered, voice cracking as more tears stung at the rims of his eyes. Katsuki just nodded, Izuku's heart squeezing as a lump crawled up his throat.

Katsuki inhaled deeply and rolled his shoulders back. "But... I also know now that yous got a lot ta think 'bout in the way a' suitors..."

"Right," Izuku murmured, gaze falling to the necklace.

"Can nae jus' pick anybody, huh..?"

Izuku shook his head slowly. "I have to chose my mate more carefully than anybody else..."

Katsuki hummed, watching Izuku closely. "What 're yous lookin' f'r in y'r mate..?"

"Well," Izuku started in a whisper, gently closing the necklace box, "there are many qualities I am in search for."

"Such as..?"

Izuku swallowed, attempting to rid himself of the lump in his throat as he met Katsuki's gaze once again. "I need to find someone with a title. As Queen, I cannot marry so far beneath my station." He held the box to his chest, Katsuki nodding again for Izuku to continue. "I need them to bring something of value not to only a relationship, but my Kingdom as well."

Katsuki hummed and stepped closer, closing the distance between them. This caused Izuku's breath to hitch, the Alpha's warm, comforting scent invading his senses as he tried to think.

"Land is good... wares are good, wealth is better," he murmured, Katsuki nodding along, his hand raising to brush his knuckles gently over Izuku's cheek. Izuku bit his lip to keep it from trembling, his heart pounding once again inside his chest.

"Go on..."

Izuku took another shakey breath, blinking a few times quickly. "They need... good leadership qualities... I need someone beside me, sharing my burden of ruling this Kingdom, I cannot have someone who does not know how to lead... someone who will... let me continue as I have been, and even help me to continue... growing this kingdom... making us better..."

Katsuki leaned down closer to Izuku, thumb stroking along the Omega's jaw as their noses bumped gently. "I think I may know some Lord yous may like ta consider..."

"Yeah?" Izuku stuttered again, a tear slipping from the corner of his eye.

The Alpha wiped away the tear, tilting his head to place a soft kiss to Izuku's forehead. "Yeah... an' he's willin' ta put in the work ta make sure he's never again the reason f'r y'r tears... he's willin' ta give yous anythin' you could e'er want f'r an' more... he wants ta be by y'r side, doin' whate'er it takes ta stay there..."

A small whimper broke from Izuku's lips before he could stop it, pinching his eyes shut. "Katsuki..."

Katsuki placed another kiss to Izuku's cheek before resting their foreheads together. "I'll spend the rest a' my life beggin' y'r forgiveness if yous need me to..."

Izuku sobbed softly, leaning into Katsuki. "Kacchan," was his feeble response, his hand coming up between them to grasp Katsuki's tunic. Katsuki wrapped to Queen in his arms, holding him close and swaying with him.

Tears streaked Izuku's cheeks and wet Katsuki's tunic, his fingers curled into the fabric with the box still clutched in his hand. Once he was calmed down enough, Izuku tilted his head to look up to the Alpha. "Will you put the necklace on me..?"

A smile slowly raised Katsuki's lips and he nodded. "Yeah... 'course I will..."

~

"Tenya."

The Knight halted in his steps as his name was called. He looked up from his place in the courtyard, the Queen standing alone on the steps, his expression stern. Tenya took a deep breath and waved to Kota and the other Squires. "Go on to the training grounds until further notice. I will call you once the Queen is ready to depart."

Each saluted before rushing off to the training grounds.

Slowly, the Knight turned towards the Queen and approached, stopping and bowing as he stood five steps below the Queen. "Your Majesty," he greeted, voice low. He took pause at the necklace Izuku adorned around his neck. Tenya swears he's never seen that necklace before, especially that morning as he had walked with the Queen.

Izuku took a deep breath. "I searched through my office... and I found the message you had recieved." He grabbed the folded note Tenya had read to him the day before and held it out. "It is blank."

Tenya nodded slowly. "Yes, your Majesty."

"No one was displeased with my place as Queen..."

"No, your Majesty."

"And the push for suitors?"

Tenya swallowed, but didn't not break eye contact. "Just me, your Majesty. A few floating words here and there from others, but no disdain or criticisms."

Izuku raised his chin, hands clasping together. "Well..."

Sighing, Tenya did lower his head. "As I had said before... you have been lonely, Izuku," he lowered his voice as he spoke. "I simply wished to no longer see you that way. All I wanted was for my Queen to find his happiness."

The Queen's gaze softened slightly, shoulders easing. "And the word I am in search of suitors..?"

"Word was never sent, your Majesty."

Izuku sighed, but smiled. "I appreciate your concern. However, please, next time, just be out with your opinion instead of being so... conniving."

Tenya smiled and chuckled as he bowed. "Of course, your Majesty. Never again will I trick you into speaking to your true love." As he turned away and desended the stairs, Izuku laughed and blushed darkly behind him.

"Thank you, Tenya. I owe you very much."

~

Izuku wasn't sure how long he had been asleep, but it must not have been very long since it was soft, silver moonlight that lit his room as he cracked open his eyes. He wasn't sure what had woken him, as his room was completely silent. He could still smell his mate's warm and comforting scent and it put him at ease. Still, as he shifted in his bed and reached into the spot beside himself, he found it empty. Izuku looked around the room, relaxing once he spotted Katsuki standing by the terrace doors.

Katsuki's back faced Izuku and he rocked back and forth slowly, and Izuku smiled as he watched. The Queen relaxed once more, crooning softly out to his mate, calling him back to their messy nest.

As Katsuki tilted his head to look back at Izuku, a tear streaked his cheek and glinted in the moonlight.

Immediately, despite the aches and pains that riddled his body, Izuku shot up quickly in bed and pushed himself off the mattress. "Kacchan-" He gasped, panic clutching at his gut and his heart leaping into his throat. "Kacchan- what is it- what's wrong- what happened-" he spat out without breathing, his own tears quick to spring to his eyes as a million terrible thoughts raced through his head as he hurried to his mate.

"Shh, Izuku," Katsuki whispered and stepped to meet his mate, running one hand through Izuku's hair and cupping his face, releasing more of his scent to sooth the sudden panic and fear and cover the rancid scent of his distress. With his other hand, he had gently cradled their swaddled bundle to his chest.

Izuku's breath was quick as he grabbed onto his mate, blinking through his tears. "What is it..? Why are your crying..?" He finally asked, voice breaking.

Katsuki leaned down, resting their foreheads together as he took a deep breath. "He... he doesn't have my mark, Izuku..."

The Queen looked up through his lashes to the Alpha, then down to their bundle. Katsuki let him take their sleeping baby and cradle him close, the Omega relaxing and calming as he saw their babe was truly okay. "Kacchan..?" Once assured everything was okay, he raised his gaze back to his mate.

More tears fell from Katsuki's eyes, even as he smiled. His hand rested gently on their baby's head, his other coming to Izuku's waist to hold his mate close. "He don't have the mark a' my people... he doesn't carry the Curse..."

"Oh, Kacchan," Izuku whimpered, leaning into Katsuki and nuzzling close. "Kacchan, it's okay..."

Katsuki nodded, wrapping his around around Izuku and kissing his head. He swayed with them both, careful of the child between them. "Yeah... he'll be okay..." Katsuki closed his eyes, rubbing his mate's back as he soothed him. "Come, get back into bed... yous need y'r rest..."

Izuku took a deep breath as he nodded, allowing his mate to guide him. Katsuki helped him back into their nest, joining after. The Omega held their baby to himself as he curled up, stroking the little bit of silky blond hair atop their little head. He looked up as Katsuki shifted close, laying a hand over his waist. "I love you, Kacchan..."

Smiling and leaning in, Katsuki placed a gentle kiss to Izuku's lips. "I love yous, too, Deku..."

Notes:

Awwww, you guys!!!!

There is no way this is the end! I just can't believe it!

I have worked on this chapter nearly every day since I posted the last. I tried so hard to get it out, but each Sunday I fell short, and I'm sorry, but I swear I was trying. I would write and write and write and it seemed like no matter how much I wrote I was still so far from the end. There were so many conclusions to wrap up, and a progression in Katsuki's and Izuku's relationship that they needed and took so long to achieve! Their roles were clashing and it took a heavy toll on them both, but they will always come back to each other in the end!

Thank you guys so much for sticking through until the end for me! I really hope you enjoyed this as much as I did! ❤️

(Also, how ironic that the last chapter is titled 'No More Goodbyes?)

First fanfiction I am publishing to AO3! Excited and nervous, I got too used to Wattpad!
