Party at Spear Pillar

Summary:

Takes place after Tournament of Kikai! Mewtwo has arrived in Spear Pillar after his time in the tournament to come to a party being celebrated for how well he did in the tournament. However, while there are some good times, they also come with brand new information regarding the future...

Notes:

For those who don"t understand what"s going on, I would highly recommend reading Tournament of Kikai first on my profile, as down below contains a few spoilers for that story. This is your only warning!

Work Text:

In the vast world of Pokemon, there were many events going on everywhere, from gym battles to contests to even challenges in hopes for trainers to become one of the many Pokemon champions of their regions… but the trainers weren’t really the focus at this moment in time.

Our story takes place today in the land of Sinnoh, more specifically, in the Spear Pillar, once known as the Temple of Sinnoh in the olden days. As no other humans were seen around the area, the only inhabitants that were occupying the space were a gathering of Pokemon… more specifically, legendary Pokemon and mythical Pokemon alike as they seemed to be waiting eagerly for one of their old friends.

“Okay, everyone. He’ll be there at any moment, so let’s give him a hearty welcome and make him feel comfortable, okay?” The white quadruped equine like creature said as he turned to everybody. “Remember, no indoor fighting. We don’t want to draw attention to ourselves…” The creature then glared over at both a metal blue dinosaur like creature and a white/purple dinosaur like creature, who shrank back. “RIGHT, Dialga? Palkia?”

Both Dialga and Palkia groaned as they looked down in disappointment. “Right, dad…”

The large whale like Pokemon couldn’t help but chuckle as the white quadruped turned towards the whale. “That goes for you and Groudon as well, Kyogre.”

“Heh!” The large red dinosaur creature known as Groudon smirked as he turned to the blue whale creature, whose mouth just dropped in agony. “Sounds like Arceus is taking my side!”

Kyogre growled in anger as he turned towards the dinosaur. A large green dragon floating in the air narrowed his eyes before floating over and giving out a loud roar. “Okay, okay, let’s not get ourselves kicked out again. You all remember what happened last Legendary and Mystical party!”

“Yeah, Kyogre and Groudon started changing the weather so bad, I couldn’t find a good place to get shade to hide my fire!” Kantonian Moltres, a large red bird covered in fire, complained as he shifted his wings.

“Ha ha, you can’t go outside in the rain!” Galarian Moltres, a large dark purple bird with dark blazes surrounding it, laughed darkly as he started flapping his wings in a more aggressive matter.

“Everyone, everyone!” Arceus frowned as he silenced everyone. “I know things are rather tense, but we have to loosen up a bit. We’re here to celebrate the biggest moment of a certain friend’s life, not argue over petty things. So please, any hostililities you have between each other, just hold back on that! Am I clear?”

Most of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon looked at each other before giving a nod. As they did so, a small green furred creature came flying in.

“He’s on his way!” Celebi called out as she joined with the others.

Everyone kept silent as they turned towards the entrance to Spear Pillar where a familiar white and purple figure came floating down with its psychic power, a small trophy floating alongside it as he made his landing. Upon doing so, he noticed the mob of legendaries and mythical Pokemon gathering around as they gave their warm welcomes.

“Hey, hey, the mon of the hour!” Azelf grinned as he gave a small wave, Uxie and Mesprit flying around as they were somehow waving party favors and blowing on party tweeters.

“Welcome home, Mewtwo! We’ve been waiting for you!” Lugia called out with a smile.

“Congrats on getting runner-up once again!” Terrakion said as he jumped up and down, almost shaking the ground.

“Ra ra ra! Ra ra ra! Welcome back Mewtwo, best fighter of the bunch!” Zeraora grinned as the yellow monkey Pokemon was dancing around eagerly.

“You certainly kept yourself busy.” Regidraco called out as the large titan that was next to the dragon golem Pokemon, Regigigas suddenly activated.

“-us dammit!” Regigigas growled angrily. “How did I manage to sleep through the entire tournament! Aw man, I can’t believe I-” It was at that moment the golem blinked as he noticed all the Legendaries and Mythicals gathered around and noticed Mewtwo with his trophy. “OH COME ON! Darn this stupid Slow Start ability! Why didn’t I have Truant like Slaking? At least it doesn’t randomly turn me off!”

“Easy buddy.” Regirock said as he tapped the large grassy white golem on the back, calming him down.

Mewtwo looked around and saw all the other Pokemon celebrating in surprise as he couldn’t help but give a small eyebrow raise. “Well, this is quite a rare occasion, seeing all of my fellow Legendary and Mythical Pokemon happy.”

“Why wouldn’t we be?” Mew giggled as she went to the front. “It’s not often that one of us would last to the final round in a big tournament, let alone twice!”

Mewtwo paused a bit before rolling his eyes. “Even though I, along with some of my other fellow Pokemon, were representing Super Smash Brothers.”

“Even so, we all have a real reason to celebrate!” Tapu Koko called out as it floated around the others. “I mean, the only other character that made runner-up twice in a Ultimate Video Rumble like tournament was that Bishamon person from Darkstalkers! You reached Bishamon-levels, my friend!”

Mewtwo pondered this for a second, before looking around. “I can’t help but notice that ALL the Legendaries and Mythicals aren’t present…”

Volcanion let out a small cough. “Yeah, about that. Jirachi is still asleep, Darkrai is a little busy haunting a few trainers’s nightmares, and Cresselia is currently fighting against him, as always, Sivally is still with his trainer, Urshifu is out training a few of his Kubfu friends back in Galar, Landorus, Tornadus, Thundurus and Enamorus are currently working at their jobs to make sure the weather is under control… and do we even need to explain how dangerous it would be to bring in Eternatus and Necrozma here?”

“Nevertheless, what we have is basically enough to celebrate your big moment.” Arceus said before giving a nod towards the psychic Pokemon.

“Yes, indeed, a very special moment!” Lugia sung a bit as Mewtwo looked around.

Mewtwo looked around before giving a light chuckle. “I can’t help but feel the love in the room… a little pushy, but I guess I can welcome it.”

“That’s the spirit, my friend!” Xerneas called out nobly. “Don’t exclude your fellow Pokemon out of your feelings! Let them in and let your life be praised!”

“Okay, don’t overdo it on the schmaltz, Bambi.” Yveltal rolled his eyes, glaring at his fellow Kalos legendary.

Xerneas glared back at the large winged monster before him. “You know that’s not my name!”

Mewtwo rolled his eyes briefly as he looked around. “So, is there any reason why we’re all here? I have a feeling that it’s not just for celebrating my runner-up status.”

Most of the Pokemon remained silent as they turned to Arceus, who couldn’t help but give a slight chuckle. “Perceptive as always, Mewtwo. Actually, I’ll leave it to Celebi to explain.”

The green grassy sprite floated over before nodding towards the white equine. “Thank you, Arceus.”

With that, Celebi turned around as he started to float. “I decided to fly my way through time, as per normal when I noticed a few… interesting things about the future. Now, it’s not exactly my job to interfere with the future, but I guess I can tell you. In about a few months from now, the world of Pokemon is going to be invited to another Ultimate Video Rumble-like spinoff.”

“Not really surprising.” Meloetta pointed out. “I mean, the world of Pokemon got invited to the Okron Tournament.”

“Yeah, and how much of THAT is under that NDA you all signed?” Marshadow giggled.

“HEY! That tournament was long complete, it’s just… slow in updates!” Meloetta rolled her eyes.

“Uh, I’m sorry, can I continue my announcement, please?” Celebi waved his hands, silencing everyone. “It is true that the world of Pokemon had been invited to the Okron Tournament before, but this time, it’s being invited to a fourth Megamix Tournament! Seems the original guy gained an interest. Anyway, he’s looking towards our world and inviting thirty Pokemon back. I went ahead and looked at the roster and noticed that unlike Mewtwo and Meloetta, there are actually a couple more legendaries and mythicals on the list this time!”

This got everybody’s attention as they started to talk in excitement.

“Sweet!” Kantonian Articuno flapped his wings in joy. “I was so annoyed that I was sitting on the sidelines in the Okron Tournament!”

“I think a lot of us were annoyed.” Galarian Articuno sighed. “I mean, I get that that Roxas didn’t want to invite a lot of Legendaries because he was worried we’d be overpowered in the Okron Tournament, but come on, except for Mewtwo, the only other Legendary or Mythical Pokemon he invited was Meloetta!”

“I thought that guy’s name was Grey?” Kantonian Zapdos asked.

“That’s his stage name.” Galarian Zapdos rolled his eyes. “Arceus, do your homework, man!”

“Yes, yes, yes, we’re all hyped.” Celebi said. “However, SSBFreak is going to send invites to three of us legendaries and mythicals. I can tell you who’s invited, if you’re interested.”

Most of the Legendaries and Mythicals expressed their interest as Celebi said, “Okay, well… the three of us that are here that were selected, were Genesect, Necrozma and Regigigas.”

Regigigas gave a robotic gasp. “Wait, me?! I’m being selected to be part of a tournament? OH, THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF M-”

All of a sudden, Regigigas immediately started to stutter like a broken record as his eyes immediately dimmed. Once again, Slow Start had activated in the golem’s excitement. Genesect, who was standing next to the large golem, paused in interest.

“Huh… well, this is interesting…” Genesect said to himself with a smirk. “I’m going to need to bring my Drives with me…”

The rest were a little concerned, not for Regigigas or Genesect, but for the other Pokemon mentioned in that list.

“Wait, did they say Necrozma?” Solgaleo asked in worried.

“Doesn’t SSBFreak realize that inviting him can be a little dangerous?” Lunala asked in worry.

“Don’t worry, everyone.” Celebi said as everyone turned back to the green sprite. “I can assure you that the blonde host DOES have a plan in case Necrozma turns out to be a little more dangerous. So, I’m sure Necrozma won’t be too bad as long as someone keeps him under control.”

Mewtwo rolled his eyes as a lot of the Legendaries turned towards the psychic cat. “I suppose you want me to train Genesect, Regigigas and Necrozma occasionally to show them the ropes?”

“Well, them and maybe a few more.” Celebi said with a sheepish smile. “I sort of went ahead further into the future and looked up the Tournament of Kikai 2’s roster.”

Mewtwo’s eyes widened, before chuckling. “I sort of figured Pokemon would be on its roster sooner or later, given how well it’s done. It might be the main staple of UVR rosters if this keeps up.”

“Right. Yeah, I don’t want to spoil TOO much on the roster, but there are at least a couple more legendaries that I want you to train and help get the ropes as well.” Celebi said. “I like to say it in private, if you don’t mind.”

Mewtwo raised an eyebrow, before giving a nod. “Very well, I understand. And I don’t mind showing the others in the groups the ropes on how to do well at these tournaments.”

Arceus chuckled as he turned towards the other Pokemon. “Well, I suppose that’s the big announcement out of the way. So, why don’t we celebrate, not just for our friend Mewtwo, but to the world of Pokemon gathering more attention… and to the Legendaries and Mythical Pokemon, past, present and future, attending a few Ultimate Video Rumbles and spinoffs… let’s get down to the party!”

Most of the Legendaries and Mythicals cheered as Regice slapped the downed Regigigas in the back, causing the large golem to fall down and fall straight on his face, all while still in Slow Start mode. Regice could only gulp before running away, leaving the downed Regigigas as everyone started to celebrate.

It was a rather large celebration as a lot of the Legendaries and Mythicals hung out together and chatted it up like no tomorrow, with even Koraidon and Miraidon showing off their skills and wheels to a very impressed and staring in child-like wonder Victini. But as everyone celebrated, there was at least one person who was standing to the side and watching the party at a distance.

Mewtwo was leaning against a pillar and watching as he raised an eyebrow, watching all the legendary and mythical Pokemon cheering and the like. The psychic cat sighed a bit as he shook his head.

“Room for another?”

Mewtwo jumped as he looked ready to throw a Shadow Ball, only to stop as he saw Mew approaching. “Please don’t do that.”

Mew could only giggle. “Oh come on! It’s not like you HAVEN’T been social. We’ve been watching you, and you managed to get a few people to work with you in your debut Tournament of Kikai round!”

Mewtwo paused for a bit before giving a sigh. “I guess that’s true…”

“Yeah, I was surprised by that bold move as well. You don’t normally team up with a lot of people.” Mew asked. “So, why did you make an alliance before you entered?”

Mewtwo paused briefly before looking towards the pink cat Pokemon. “Some of it was for strategy purposes, but there was also some other purposes as well. As I was watching the tournament, I noticed that there was a lot more emphasis on ‘teamwork’ in this tournament than single fights. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a tournament, but when fighters work together with other fighters to do their Limit Breaks OR just helping them fight, they were all having a good time, they knew the tournament was not just a fighting tournament, but another game.”

“I guess that makes sense.” Mew nodded.

“There is a little more than that. When I saw that Penny Proud, Bubbles, Ellis and Isabelle were in an alliance, with the Crystal Gem Garnet teaming up with them a section later, I knew that if I was going to get anywhere, I would have to change up my gameplan. So, I approached Charmy, Captain Jack Sparrow and Nathan Drake respectively before we were due to go out with an offer to help take down the large alliance that seemed to be going on. I perceived them as a bit of a threat.” Mewtwo explained before pausing. “And rightfully so. Who’d have figured that a Slice-of Life character, one of my fellow Smashers, the longest running fighter in the ring and a character from one of the lesser known nodes, alongside a Reserve Mystery Fighter, would be dominating?”

Mew cocked her head in thought, before nodding. “I suppose that makes sense. Did you actually think it would be your game winning move?”

“Honestly, considering the nature of the tournament, I didn’t even think I would make runner-up again, but when I realized that I was in the Final Twelve again, I realized that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I just needed to play smart this time, don’t leave a thing to chance. So, when it was between me and Penny, part of me thought this match up would be too easy. However, I’ve seen her in battle. Penny Proud may not be much, but she is actually quite a smart opponent. I may be a powerful psychic type, but she was a very determined player.” Mewtwo explained, before giving a small nod. “And I can’t help but respect her for that…”

Mew paused briefly as the pink cat couldn’t help but ask just one more question. “Do you think you might have won if the tournament’s arena didn’t suddenly fall? I mean, you were extremely close to eliminating her.”

The purple cat creature looked up briefly in thought, before turning to Mew. “It’s rather hard to say. While I do believe that fatigue would have probably got her, I thought that about Pikachu in the first Battle of the Luminaries, and you know how well that turned out.”

Mewtwo paused as he leaned back towards the ruined pillar once more. “But despite all that, compared to all the other times I’ve been in this tournament, I did actually find a bit of a thrill in it. Maybe teamwork for me will be the way to go, but again, we’ll have to see.”

“Do you think you can do well enough to make Final Two a third time?” Mew asked in confusion.

Mewtwo thought about Mew’s words. “I’m not sure. It would be nice to make it to the finals for a third time, but with the nature of these tournaments, you never know. For now, I’m just going to keep working on improving my powers.” He then levitated the runner-up trophy he carried with him as he gave a warm smile. “Still, if I can do well in making runner-up twice, then that means I’m doing something right in the late games.”

Mew couldn’t help but look at Mewtwo’s face with a content smile. “So, thinking of putting that trophy next to your Battle of the Luminaries runner-up trophy here?”

Mewtwo paused as he looked at Mew… before giving a smile. “Of course I will. Why would I not?”

The pink cat Pokemon floated nearby as she gave a giggle. “You always were a strange one, Mewtwo.”

“I have been protecting Pokemon in Cerulean Cave and then the forests of Kalos and Galar all my life. So, it feels right.” Mewtwo explained.

Mew smiled briefly, before jumping up, beginning to float with its psychic power. “Come on, Mewtwo, this party isn’t going to last long, you know! Mingle out in the crowd for a little bit! After all, if you can do it for the Tournament of Kikai, you can do it here!”

With that, Mew started to fly off as she joined in and laughed alongside Diancie and Shaymin. Mewtwo paused briefly before looking up at the sky, thinking about the future… before giving a rare smile.

“Just this once…” Mewtwo nodded before coming in and joining in on the festivities, where the party at Spear Pillar lasted through the day and on into the night.

Of course, the party started to get a little TOO wild once it suddenly turned into a racing competition as they started to slide down the mountain… but that was another story.
