Yuuji's gallery was more than crowded that year, he took pictures of absolutely everything he thought was beautiful or that interested him in any way.
From the day he became Ryomen Sukuna's vessel, he knew he was doomed to die sooner than expected, he already had an executioner selected to kill him as soon as he ingested the last finger of the curse he loved to disturb him day and night.
He resolved to live his life to the fullest ever since despite cutting off contact with his school friends after the incident that led him to become a jujutsu sorcerer, hanging out with Nobara and Megumi whenever he could to the places the three of them liked, filming and taking pictures of everything, especially friends.
Kugisaki didn't complain, he loved posting the photos the boy took on instagram and they kept recording videos dragging Fushiguro with them to embarrass himself with his friends, they wouldn't leave him out of anything even if he kept complaining all the time.
Megumi never really got angry, he jokingly complained about being naturally grumpy but could never say no to requests they made, always getting into situations he normally avoided at all costs, like going out, but how would he say no to his friends? Especially Yuuji.
He never said anything, but he had a disgracefully giant soft spot for the pink-haired boy. He was kind, selfless and even if he was in a very bad shape, physically or psychologically, he would always be there to help anyone who needed it, no matter who it was.
Aside from technically still indebted to him, Itadori literally traded his long and possibly peaceful life to protect the corpse's finger from a curse that Fushiguro failed to protect, swallowing it and damning himself without even a second thought.
There were so many times he was protected by the youngest that he lost count, the guy literally died to save him when they had just become classmates. Of course, he later "tormented" him again after coming back from the dead thanks to a deal, pretended not to care but burst into tears as soon as he got back to the dorm, thanking heaven for not having lost him.
Unbeknownst to Yuuji, he used to take pictures of him happily messing around with Nobara, sometimes he would ask him to record some training or when they went on some missions, he would take pictures on the way with his sensei who also loved it, being the friendly guy he was.
It took a few months for Megumi to work up the courage to confess to Yuuji, waited until they had a break from Jujutsu school, got some tips from Nobara on what to say and finally told the boy everything, ready to take a no because he was sure he didn't like boys.
To his surprise, Itadori smiled, a smile so warm but at the same time so sad that it moved you in a different way, one of those smiles that makes your whole world turn upside down, whether that's good or bad. The smaller hugged Fushiguro with some regret, leaving him with the certainty of the boy's rejection.
-Megumi..it's not that I want to reject you..- Yuuji released him from that hug and gave him a sad smile.- But you know I'm going to die soon, it's no use dating someone who is doomed to a bad fate.- You said more depressed than he appeared to be.
For a second, Fushiguro almost gave up, almost gave up trying, but in a small surge of courage, he kissed Yuuji with all the affection he had for him, who wasted no time and responded in the same way. What lasted a few minutes, was hours for both boys, a loving kiss and somehow intense, conveying all the feelings they had for each other.
-Listen well Itadori Yuuji, I don't care if you're condemned to death, if you're Sukuna's host or anything else that has to do with it. We still have time before he takes you to your end.- The brunette said holding the shorter one by the shoulders, looking deep into his eyes. -I want to give you all the love I have while you're alive, let's enjoy it while we have time together..
Fushiguro was never the romantic type, but for Yuuji he would surrender to the romantic side he didn't even know he had to convince him to give it a go. Needless to say more, Itadori jumped into his arms happily, accepting to have a relationship with the tallest one who smiled genuinely happy.
Months passed, it was a year since they were dating and they couldn't be happier. They had an incredible connection and were the best possible duo on missions that was even better with her friend, Kugisaki loved seeing both of them so happy that way and had also entered into a relationship with Maki, she understood their happiness well.
They had a little celebration on their anniversary, just the two of them, going to special places for both of them and doing little couple things that Yuuji thought was so cute to see and do, Fushiguro didn't complain, if he was happy then that was fine.
Time passed, more fingers were found, ingested one after another and Itadori changed, even more so after the Shibuya incident. The appearance changed a little, gained more scars, two very striking on the face, one on the forehead between the eyebrows and one in the left corner of the mouth. His personality also changed over the years after witnessing so many disasters, Yuuji became colder little by little.
The cheerful and selfless boy who became Ryomen Sukuna's host died part by part, managing to stay sane thanks to his boyfriend who was always by his side giving him love and affection.
In their fourth year of dating, Yuuji reached his majority, receiving a surprise birthday party from his friends. That brought Itadori back happy for a while, it was good to have everyone together again, but he was surprised to miss his boyfriend, he knew he didn't like parties but Megumi never forgot his birthday.
Only when he got home did he understand what it was all about, he was waiting for him in his room and he had pampered himself sooner than expected: Now that they were grown up, they would have their first time together. And, for two inexperienced people, it was just perfect.
It was something so comfortable, so affectionate, they wanted that moment to last forever. The next morning, they skipped the meeting that sent them to the missions, claiming they were too tired to go that day, as if everyone didn't know why.
But, as good things don't last long, they got a call from Nobara, who sadly said that the last finger had been found. As the one who received the call was Megumi, the idea of ending his boyfriend's happiness just like that hurt his, so he told her friend that he would only tell the other day when they went to the meeting.
Unfortunately, he did, he had to tell the truth and it hurt, it hurt a lot to see the sad smile on the youngest's face who just sighed and accepted what he needed to do. Itadori swallowed his finger when they went to high school and now it was time to set a date for his execution.
The superiors, despite the protests of Yuuji's friends and sensei, decided that the following week he would be executed by Yuuta Okkotsu, the Jujutsu high school executioner who for the first time felt sorry for doing his job, not for the curse, for the boy.
The days before the scheduled date were days off for the trio of friends, who did everything they liked best, ate their favorite junk food and watched their favorite series and movies. They played all sorts of things on the days they decided not to leave the house, and when Nobara couldn't go to the couple's apartment, they took advantage of it in another way.
Itadori took so many pictures when they left that his cell phone didn't even have space. Those were fun days before the tragedy that ripped a piece of soul from each of Yuuji's friends.
The day came, everyone gathered, many were serious, others were crying, but no one was more shaken than Megumi, who tried at all costs to swallow the crying to be strong for her loved one. Itadori wasn't bad, he knew that day would come and he lived his life as best he could, he found love and in the end, he was happy.
When called, a last hug was given, a last kiss was exchanged and a sweet "I love you" was said before Yuuji was executed. Coming home had never been harder for Fushiguro, walking into the house that used to be full of life and love now felt emptier than it had when they moved in, lying in the soft, oversized bed hugging his boyfriend's yellow sweatshirt felt like be his only solace at that moment, looking at the photos he'd taken of Itadori over the years on his cell phone.
And now Megumi lived on memories of the only someone he ever loved.
