Cubicles & Careers

Welcome to the world of Careers and Cubicles. Here, you will discover a fantastical world where the power of the storms has been harvested and adventures only require talking.

Career stands for the progression in your field of expertise. Are you an accountant (a specialist in numbers)? Then, while you might start your path as a junior accountant, you can end up as a paranormal accountant: one who can use numbers to tell lies and grow in unexpected ways.

A cubicle, on the other hand, is your home and rest area. You can work, eat, rest and even die in your cubicle. The Company, a mythical entity that controls your life and career, is the one that provides you with your cubicle. And they can take it back as easily as give it to you. Make sure The Company has no reason to suspect where your loyalty lies too much.

How To Play

Join The Union

A Union is a collective bargaining entity. If all of the players 2 NPC per player join The Union, then everyone gets a 1.5 multiplier to their salary, better working conditions, and a reduction in overtime. However, if not enough people join The Union, those that do join are immediately fired and blacklisted.

- 5 Loyalty: The Company hates good working conditions.

Dress Code

In C&C, all your clothing is referred to as a Suit and which one you are wearing is called your Suit Class. Suits act in a similar way to how armor works in real life, as they each have their advantages and disadvantages. Most Suits come at a cost, so you might need to Balance Your Budget (See Budget section) before you can afford the Suit of your dreams.

Polo & Khakis (Free!)

The starter suit. No, you are not naked if you do not choose a Suit, you wear a Polo & Khakis. This combination is usually provided by your employer and comes at a free cost. While this is a good choice for a beginner party, try to branch out into a different Suit as you find your type of play.

Polo & Khakis is the combination of a polo shirt: a basic shirt with a collar and The Company logo, and khaki pants.

1 Camouflage: You are just another employee.

1 Loyalty: Wearing The Company logo visibly makes you seem more loyal to The Company.

- 2 Charisma: Clients and fellow employees see you as bland and unoriginal. Some might not even remember you.

Smart Casual (7/9 salary)

The perfect outfit for your cubicle. You are the very essence of an employee.

Smart Casual is the combination of a pencil skirt, pressed shirt, and tie. No hat is worn with smart casual, which leaves you at a disadvantage against bird poop and sun damage.

1 Charisma: Clients like how you look.

- 1 Mobility: Heels, formal socks, and skirts are bad for your mobility.

Casual Friday (1/5 salary)

Who is that fun-looking individual? It is you, of course! Casual Friday is the perfect outfit if you want to be in an office setting but still remain fun and casual.

Casual Friday is the combination of shorts, an informal shirt depicting a crab with sunglasses carrying a flag that says casual, sandals, and patterned socks.

2 Charisma: Everyone loves you and wishes they could be as fun and casual as you.

- 1 Loyalty: You are too much of an individual! With you looking like such a fun person, how is The Company expected to know you belong to them?

- 1 Camouflage: You are an eyesore. Everyone can see you.

PPE (3/7 salary)

Personal Protective Equipment, the closest you will get to armor in this game. No, it is not necessary for an office setting. Yes, you will be protected.

PPE is composed of a high visibility jacket, a hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses.

1 Physical Skills: You are ready for any eventuality.

- 1 Loyalty: You are too much of an individual! With you looking like such a fun person, how is The Company expected to know you belong to them?

- 2 Camouflage: You are wearing a high-visibility jacket, what else did you expect?

Black Tie (11/3 salary)

Who is that? A very fancy fellow! You look as dapper as it gets and everyone knows that. You are a reputable person in formal clothing.

A long evening dress, gloves, a tie and jacket, and uncomfortable formal shoes.

2 Charisma: You look amazing and suave.

- 2 Mobility: You are not running away. At least, not in that outfit.

Clown Costume (1/3 salary)

What do you mean you want to wear a clown costume? Oh, you want to be a court jester but are unsure of how to do so in this world? Well, you can just make yourself the Funny Guy/ Funny Gal / Funny Pal of the office. However, if you still insist on looking the part, you can wear a clown costume.

A clown costume is personal to every individual. You should take your time designing your own costume. However, most clown costumes come with: face paint that makes children scared but adults laugh, shoes that are comically large, a big red nose to remind the audience of their parental figure’s alcoholism, a racially charged wig and suspenders.

3 Charisma: You are the very essence of the office clown.

- 1 Loyalty: You are too much of an individual! This debuff disappears if you add The Company Logo to your outfit.

-2 Camouflage: There is no possible way someone doesn’t notice you.

Printers

Printers are one of the most common enemies you will confront in the world of C&C. A printer is a small creature that can harness the power of storms to instantly copy a document into a new sheet of paper. Unlike copying spells, which do not exist in this world, printers are actively working against the player.

To successfully use a printer, a player will need to roll a high technology check or get an IT specialist to help. Printers, unlike most Office Supplies (see the section on Office Supplies,) are able to both physically and emotionally damage a player. If enough damage is done, the player risks having a mental breakdown, which might lead to a Conversation with Personnel Resources.

Remember: The Company dislikes damaged employees and blaming The Company’s printer will instantly lower your loyalty stat.
