Summary
Marcy Wu's death at age fourteen was sudden, unexpected, and world-shattering to all her loved ones.
Her family moved away, running from the grief haunting the place they raised their child.
Anne and Sasha did not run from their grief. They sacrificed it to the Night, an entity Sasha's grandfather kept in the basement that playacts as a loved one, that wears their face and voice and how they were perceived by others. All it needed in return was raw meat and a template. Perpetuation of its own life and sustenance from yet another set of insignificant, flesh-bound humans in exchange for an actor wearing their dead friend's mask.
