It had been a few months since the royal wedding, Mal and Ben were happily married and the kingdom couldn't be happier. Maleficent transformed herself back to normal and promised not to be a threat to Auradon, Mal had shown both her parents how to use a smartphone/cellphone at first they thought it was useless but over time they managed it (ish, slightly, maybe...) Neither of them ever used it and that made Maleficent confused as to why hades would invite her on a bit of adventure in the forest—they were just going to be walking but it was an adventure non less.
Smokey: Hey, Malef wanna take a walk in the forest...it could be like an adventure?
Malef: ....
Smokey: Y-you don't have to say yes if you don't want to, I felt like exploring and thought you might want to come. Since y-you know you grew up in the forest and we've been under the barrier for a few years......
Malef: I didn't say no, now did I?
Smokey: S-so is that a yes?
Malef: You decide
Smokey: Ok so I'll meet you at the entrance to Sherwood Forest
That was pretty much how their day started. As evil, as it was she purposely made herself forty-five minutes late and made a grand entrance.
"I thought you weren't coming"
"Yet you still waited...besides you never gave me a time". Hades mentally slapped himself and led the way as they ventured deeper into the forest the fear of getting lost didn't appear once they were two powerful beings and they could teleport. The silence was slightly awkward yet comforting in a way Maleficent was sure if Hades was trying to make it obvious but he was making it pretty damn obvious "Is there a reason you keep glancing at me" she asked while taking a seat on a log.
"Do you ever wonder what could have been us?".She definitely didn't expect the turn of conversation.
"Before or After you left?"She always wondered why he did leave everything had been going so well between them and a week or maybe two after Mal's birth he vanish ( Avatar fan anybody? Just me? ok).
"Why did you leave? I thought you were happy"
Hades sighed and took a seat beside Maleficent "I was honest! I've always wanted a little girl but a few days later it occurred to me that I was immortal and you both weren't which means"
"We'd both die at some point"
"Yeah" hades chuckled sadly "which means I would be the one to judge both your souls and I guess I just couldn't live with that my family would die and I would be all alone just like I was all those years ago in Kronos stomach and in river Styx". (that's the mane of the river hades was in right?) Maleficent rubbed his back a gesture hades openly welcomed.
"If you must know I told mal her dad was human, she believed me for a few years but eventually she figured out it was a lie and you were her father. I've never seen a child try to disown someone so bad"
"I told her you were hard to live with" the duo smiled a little "How did she figure out I was her dad though?
"That's something you have to ask her till this day I still don't know how she found out". A few minutes passed and maybe, just maybe there was still love not lost between them. "Do you think that maybe we can forget all that happened in the past and start over?" hades asked.
Maleficent looked at him and then smiled " Hi I'm Maleficent Mistress of Evil and Queen of the Moors"
