Chapter Text
Nothing could have prepared them for how long it would take to dissolve Snoke and Palpatine's presence. Ten years but to Rey and Ben, it felt like a lifetime.
They had been married for 8 years, but had decided to wait to have children till everything had settled down and it was safe. They didn't want to have their children constantly being hunted.
Han had finally retired from the army, much to Leia's relief. Luke had also retired as a doctor but was still seeing some of his regular patients on the side.
Poe had gotten an honorable discharge since he couldn't stay in the army due to his prosthesis and he and Finn had settled in Yavin, on Kes' farm.
Ben and Rey chose to stay in Naboo, where Ben's grandmother was from and she and Anakin had given them the lake house as a wedding present after they moved to a smaller house not far away. Han and Leia also settled down in Varykino, as did Luke.
The day came when the final members of Snokes and Palpatine's was rounded up by the CIA and the FBI. Cassian and Jyn made it their life time mission to make sure their lives would be miserable in Leavenworth and Alcatraz.
Now that the threat was over, Ben couldn't wait to start a family with Rey. He smiled as he looked over the lake before turning to head back in the house.
Rey was standing in the kitchen working over the stove. She wanted to make a nice meal for her husband, especially now since she had to tell him some important news.
She had taken a pregnancy test a month ago, and she had gotten it confirmed by Maz. She was three months pregnant and now that everything was starting to go back to normal, she knew she couldn't hide it any longer. Especially since this morning, she noticed that she was starting to get a slight bump.
Thankfully Ben hadn't seemed to notice yet, which she was surprised about. He was always so cognisant over everything and since he couldn't seem to keep his hands off her, it surprised her he hadn't noticed.
As she placed the last bowl on the table, she saw Ben walk into the room. "Smells great, wife" he said as he bent to kiss her.
Rey was getting ready to reply when she threw a hand over her mouth and ran from the room. Ben frowned and followed her to the bathroom, where he heard her retching. "Baby, what's wrong?" He asked as he knelt next to her and started rubbing her back.
Once Rey was done, she sat back on her legs and looked at Ben, taking his hand and placing it on her stomach. "Just our baby, making it's presence known" she said with a slight smile.
Ben's smile stretched clear off his face as he grabbed Rey into his arms and held her close. After Rey rinsed her mouth and they were in the dining room eating the meal Rey had prepared, he couldn't help but think that he owed his dad $100 dollars. Han had said that he thought Rey was pregnant but Ben was adamant that she wasn't. But now as he looked at his wife of 8 years, a $100 dollars didn't seem to be alot, especially with the priceless treasure she was carrying. For the first time in a long time, Ben and Rey were finally happy and safe.
