Work Text:
How pathetic of him. A hunting dog, keeling over in pain at the feet of his enemy. But Tecchous mind was far from that. Standing over him- his past, his other half- laughing. Laughing at his agony, at the blood he spills, at his pathetic self. He tries to reason but the words stick to his throat- catch in the blood and grime. Jouno ignores his flapping lips- ignoring his attempt to speak. He crouches down- using his finger to lift Tecchous head. The brunette looks so very pitiful- looking sadly at a man who no longer has any love for him.
If Jouno could tell he was begging, he was ignored. Instead, pulled close into a hug. He makes a noise- one of mixed surprise and pain. His bleeding wound in his stomach is held tightly by the figment of what was Jouno- now a mindless vampire. His hold sends shockwaves of pain through the dying man- causing tears to well up in his amber eyes. He can barely breathe- lungs crushed against the vampire's rib cage.
His entire body burns and aches. His stomach wound is in agony, his head burns from when Jouno had repeatedly smashed it into the ground, his arms and legs ache with a dull pain from all the cuts and bruises. He's sure at least a few of his bones are shattered from being violently knocked around. A massive chunk of concrete is stuck in his thigh- something Jouno had done to try and hear Tecchou scream.
Tecchou unwillingly leans into his embrace- his body longing for the comfort and warmth he was so desperately familiar with. He wishes it was truly Jouno- complaining as he patched up his wounds. But instead the body that holds him belongs to an enemy. An enemy Tecchou couldn't even take down- too pathetically attached to who he was to hurt him. Instead, he let himself be beaten and almost killed- praying it may awaken Jouno again. But alas, that was all just wishful thinking.
Jouno suddenly shoves him to the ground and stomps on his face- laughing. Tecchou can feel himself slowly drifting away- blood loss finally catching up to him. His head swims and he can feel his vision blurring. Finally, he cries. His tears wet the concrete underneath his head- his body shakes with the sobs he chokes down. Jounos face morphs into one of surprise for a half second before breaking into a smile. A creepy smile graces his face as he enjoys the final break of Tecchous spirit. Tecchou cries himself dry- sobs till his vision slowly darkens. The last thing he sees is Jouno- standing over him as he enjoys the show.
-_-
Those visions- those that come to you right before death- always seemed so dumb to Tecchou. Entering the plane of your mind- and for what? To get some motivational words that will, in the end, do nothing. Yet when he snaps his eyes open, he finds himself sitting up staring off the edge of a cliff. The landscape behind him seems to reach on forever- yet no sounds are present. He can see a waterfall yet hears no noise of water, he sees all sorts of animals yet fails to hear anything.
“Tecchou.” A weight sits itself against his back- laying their head on his shoulder. “How are you?” A familiar voice- the one belonging to his past- speaks up.
A familiar calloused hand intertwines their fingers as Jouno sighs into the brunette's ear.
“Jouno?” Tecchous head turns, pressing his cheek against the blind man's head. “Is this really you?” His voice sounds so hopeful.
“You already know the answer to that.” Jouno's voice breaks at the end and his shoulders scrunch up. “Y-you already know.”
Tecchou squeezes his hand tightly- rubbing a thumb over his skin. The feeling of his fading- the feel of his hands is fading out.
“Jouno…” Tecchou turns around and presses his forehead against the others.
“No. Don't start. Not now.” Jounos eyes fill with tears and his body shakes.
With that, the tears spill over. Jouno sobs- he sounds like he's in agony. Tecchou watches as he slowly disappears. The brunette holds him tightly as he cries- head pressed against his chest as he grips his clothes tightly. Tecchou holds him until he disappears. He watches as Jounos body dissolves into lights that fizzle out far too quickly. He watches as Jouno disappears from his grasp once again.
-_-
Tecchou awakes in the parking lot once again. His body aches with dull tones as he pulls himself into a sitting position. Its messy- destroyed support beams, massive holes in the ground, roof almost caving in. Blood covers the scene around him, drenching the area in red. Tecchou reaches upwards to his head, touching fresh bandages. He runs his hands over his body- feeling fresh new bandages all over. The way the bandages are wrapped, the way they were placed on his skin- almost like they weren't there- Tecchou knew who had patched him up. It was Jouno with his skilled fingers who had wrapped him far too many times to count.
Jouno had saved him. Or was it the fake- wishing for him to stay alive and play along with his dumb games? Tecchou stands, using his sword as a pillar to help him. He remembers there were cameras- maybe if he found the recording he could see what happened while he was out. With that in mind, Tecchou sets out to find the security room.
Tecchou finds it pretty easily- up the stairs and to the left. He almost kicks down the door when he enters- startling the single guard in the room. He is sat on a black rolly chair- blood pooling from his neck. Tecchou cuts the vampire down the second he attempts to attack- he is a man on a mission.
Sitting down on the chair, Tecchou begins looking through the many parking lot cameras. Quickly finding the one he's looking for, he attempts to rewind. It takes a bit- only god knows how long he was out- but he finds what he is looking for. Jouno stands over Tecchou with an angry look on his face as he begins to comprehend that the brunette had passed out. He goes in for the kill- pulling his sword out from its scabbard and raising it to his head.
Yet at the last second, he throws his sword into the wall. He stumbles back as he coughs and hacks- fighting against the vampire ability forced upon him. He falls to the ground, almost convulsing. His body is tense and he scratches at his face. Tecchous heart hammers in his chest as he watches his lover fight- fight to save him.
Tecchou can only imagine the suffering Jounos went through. He looks to be screaming as he tears his flesh in an attempt to stop the virus from consuming him. Agony pierces the brunette's chest, tears gathering at his lash line. He's internally screaming at himself- why did he wake up? He could have helped Jouno. He feels his heart be torn as Jouno tears at his throat- blood trickling down from where his nails bore into his flesh.
He watches as Jouno struggles- an ocean of emotions filling him. Anger, sadness and so many more he couldn't even describe. After god knows how long, Jouno is able to take control. He stumbles around, sometimes twitching and hurting himself- slamming himself into walls, poking his eyes, whatever it takes to keep him lucid- as he makes quick work of Tecchous injuries. He finds a first aid kit in the wall- there for emergencies- and quickly finds the bandages. The blind man wraps them around the sleeping beauty with shaking hands- yet somehow is able to get them perfect.
Suddenly, he yells out and runs away. He accidentally runs into walls and trips multiple times as he runs away. Tecchou can only watch as he loses the fight once again- becoming calm and relaxed as he goes upstairs. Tecchou shuts off the monitor.
-_-
Jouno is still conscious in a body that is no longer his own. Tecchou could only imagine the torture he must be going through- knowing his body is killing, destroying while he cant do anything. He knows Jouno is a good person and he doesnt deserve to see himself like that. Jouno is not a monster.
Tecchou barges into the main airport- prepared for battle. He easily slices down the enemies- once mafiosos- as they attempt to swarm him. He has a mission- to save Jouno from himself- and he will not let pesky criminals get in his way. Jumping up, Tecchou grabs onto a water pipe. He swings- harder and harder- till he lets himself fly. He catches the next pipe- pulling himself up and over it. The vampires underneath him yell and taunt but he ignores them. He jumps pipe to pipe- until he's cleared the entire lobby. He then smashes through a window- still ignoring the other vampires. He enters an empty room- a meeting room. He finds the door- not bothering to look around the room- and throws it open.
He opens doors and scans rooms as he runs down the long hallway. He must find Jouno and quickly- before he can truly no longer fight the virus. With that thought, his chest constricts. He could never stand the loss of Jouno- of his love, his other half, the reason for his being. He runs through the airport for far too long. He found Jouno sitting comfortably in a seat on the other side of the airport from where he had woken up. Jouno sits slumped over as if deep in thought.
“You arrived. Never expected you to be such an idiot.” With that Jouno looks up.
His face is drenched in kindness- lips in a small smile with his face relaxed. It causes Tecchous breath to catch in his throat- the wind knocked out of him. He tries to keep himself from blushing but fails miserably. He looks ethereal with the last few lights of the day shining on him. He stands and pulls his sword from its scabbard.
“I can’t leave you alone, Jouno. Not after what happened.” Tecchou stands his ground, also pulling his sword out.
“Tecchou. Stop trying to hold onto your dumb dream. The Jouno you know is no longer here.” With that, Jouno reappears behind him.
Tecchou is fast- going for his knees. An easy and mom lethal way to take him down. But Jouno knows too much. He has memorized his attack pattern- he knows that Tecchou will do. Jouno slashes downwards- but the brunette jumps out from underneath his sword.
“Fighting me is useless, you know.” Jouno begins, “You won’t kill me, you don’t have it in you.”
“Neither do you.” Amber eyes glare at the imposter- his once lover now rivals. “You had your chance but have it up.”
“You-!” Jouno begins but Tecchou attacks.
He aims for Jounos head- using his long range to his advantage. Jouno just barely dodges out of the way as the sword stabs into the pillar behind his head. It shatters it. The two begin their dance to the tune of death soon after- swords clashing and sounds of endless destruction. Pillars fall underneath Tecchous grip and the ground shakes under the weight of Jounos harsh words.
Tecchou doesn’t count the minutes or maybe hours they spend together- he doesn’t think about the cuts and bruises littering his skin or the harsh words of his ex-partner. He ignores everything- focused on catching at least a glimpse of what was. He sees it- when he’s holding Jouno in a chokehold- his face morphs into one of horror. It’s a glimpse at best but his sharp eyes never miss. Not when it comes to Jouno.
He tightens his legs around his throat- praying it may give him another glimpse. It does. The true Jouno opens his mouth- voice scratchy and slightly weak due to lack of air.
“I’m sorry, Tecchou. I didn’t mean to.” Tecchou shuts his eyes- loosening his leg chokehold. “Please. Just kill me before I lose control again.” Jouno pleads.
“No. Please don’t make me do such a thing.” Tecchou begs, dropping his legs and taking his head into his arms. “I don’t want to lose you again.”
“Tecchou. We don’t have much time.” Jouno tugs his sword to his throat.
“No. I’m not hurting you any more than I have.” Tecchou holds him closer.
“Tecchou… you're lucky I am still lucid. Hurry, we don’t have much time.” Jouno uses his other hand to cup Tecchous face.
“If you die, I’m dying too. I’m not leaving you alone, didn’t we promise that?” Tecchou tries to plead with Jouno, holding him to his chest.
Four years ago, when they first started dating, on a cliff far from the rest of the world they made a promise. To never leave the other behind. Together forever- Tecchou remembers how Jouno had carved it into some tree when he was feeling exceptionally giddy.
“I’m not dying for you to die too. I’m dying for you to live. Don’t you dare try and kill yourself too.” Jouno snaps.
-_-
Tecchou leans against the tree, hand feeling the carving. It was sloppy and quite messy- but it was a symbol of their love. It’s the same cliff as in his dream- the cliff where Jouno had confessed with flowers and a weird combination of picnic food- which he had specifically hand picked for Tecchous taste. He didn’t eat very much, of course, but he had luckily gotten his message across.
Now he’s buried there- somewhere quiet and alone- just like he liked it. Well almost alone. Tecchou always came at 5 pm on the dot- right after his work ended. Tecchou made a little home for himself at the bottom of the tree- right underneath the promise Jouno had carved in. He looks out over the cliff, looking at the back of the gravestone. Tecchou never believed he could stomach looking at the front. It would only remind him of dumb mistakes in his past.
Tecchou loved Jouno and Jouno loved Tecchou. They were inseparable- the difference between heaven and earth. Now Jouno is gone- heaven and earth. Tecchou misses his earth- his everything, his body, his flesh, his thoughts. He misses Jouno so much. Silent tears slip down his face as he sobs- watching as the earth slowly dies out and day turns to night.
