Chapter 5: An Esper's Wrath

Summary:

AN: Got a comment earlier about the "Japan" thing. I just want to clarify for everyone that "Japan" is just the name of the government that controls the world here. It'd be a bit weird to just say "the government" everytime it's mentioned, especially since it's mentioned quite a bit. I just thought it would be a better idea than being obscure.

Thanks for your comment Inovats!

Chapter Text

The crowd of low-level applicants left the stadium, with mixed emotions. Some looked like they thought they would do better, maybe they were sad because the examiners barely paid attention to them, some were even filled with more emotion because they were determined to do better on the written test. Everyone looked toward the exit with either a bleak or positive future ahead of them.

All but one man.

This guy, he looked at her?!

Amongst all the locker room faced idiots, a man with shaggy shoulder length hair looked at her
and clicked his teeth. She had her doubts watching the man from his side peripheral, but now she was sure. This was definitely him, the samurai from last night at the bar.

She hissed slightly as he twisted his head away from her direction. Crossing her arms across her chest and almost popping a blood vessel, she had a deranged look as he started ignoring her. Again this stranger managed to make her mood do a backflip. She was on thin ice, a midget prone to explode. Why did he still not know his place? Wasn’t it made clear that she was S-Class and he was a mere applicant at HER exam?! If it weren’t for all the people here she might have just ripped him apart like a KitKat. Suddenly, that candies’ iconic commercial wasn’t so bad anymore. SNAP* The mere audio in her head was euphoric.

She cringed remembering his words. Acting like he was some god, like he really knew what her situation was. He didn’t know her, he didn’t know who she was or how she lived. Judging her for simply sitting by herself in a bar, how much of an asshole did you have to be to do something like that? She wanted to see how much judging off appearances he would do with a piece of concrete in his forehead. Now THAT would be harassing someone. With a glare, she growled like a mad dog at the thought.

Sekingar, along with all the other examiners crowded behind her, looked at their special guest with tears and sweat down their faces. A predator to its prey, Tatsumaki gazed at the leaving crowd with a pressure even medusa would cower from. Mustering all the strength - and courage - she could to the muscles in her mouth, she spoke “M-miss Tornado, is there something down there that’s interesting? We were just discussing the rankings for the two new S-Class heroes.”

“The rankings?” The esper turned to the executive with an interested look.

“Y-yes. Normally, the Association would give a new S-Class Hero the lowest ranking available to be fair to the other skilled individuals in the same class. However, with a rarity like two in the same exam there’s no given practice to follow.” Sekingar says with a huff. “Shall we call the heroes up to discuss the situation?”

A sudden idea crept into the mind of the short woman. She opened her mouth slightly and flipped her wavy green hair back. A flip of her long eyelashes and her glossy lips slowly formed a smirk. “That won’t be necessary,” she remembers Suiryu’s strength compared to his counterpart. “Have them spar for the higher ranking.”
