There were many benefits that came with being a retired Hashira. Though Tengen had to admit his favorite was being able to cuddle with his wives in their nest every morning.
Though he was currently outside in the cold as his body tried to throw up everything he had ever eaten in his life. Tengen could feel a small hand gently patting his back and pulling his hair away from his face.
Leaning back against the engawa, Tengen recognized Hinatsuru’s scent as she played with his hair. He tapped her thigh to let her know that he was okay. She kissed his forehead before heading to the kitchen to make mint tea.
Resting his hand on the small yet growing swell of his stomach. Silently pleading for the baby to take it easy on their poor carrier.
Lost in trying to mentally argue with his baby, Tengen hardly noticed as Suma pulled him up into the house. Makio said something in the background as Hinatsuru poured tea.
Life was good.
