Chapter Text
A crisp scent of rain, dirt, and pine surrounded the area.
A large forest, it was beautiful, filled with everything the two loved.
Terry sat against a large tree, watching Enki walk around in a small stream of water, picking up rocks and other things she found interesting or pretty, she had previously picked up five rocks and dumped them into Terrys pockets, claiming they looked like his eyes and thus they must keep them.
It was adorable.
The sight of her, draped in golden light and water reflections, was almost enough to soothe his headache.
An awful dull ache that sat behind his tired eyes, worsening when he neared the cabin just thirty feet away. Guilt ate at him, what was meant to be a relaxing and fun vacation had been soured by his headaches.
Usually he would only get them after work, but something around the cabin had made it constant.
Allergies, he assumed.
But it didnt feel like a very convincing answer.
He watched her again, her long pure white hair wrapping around her face and dipping into the water when she leaned over. Her annoyance at the length was always slightly amusing, as she refused to cut it despite the struggles. Her eyes were brighter, he noted, the setting sunlight making them look as if they were glowing softly. Everything seemed to compliment her perfectly, Terry was positive she would remain gorgeous forever.
He found himself imagining growing old together, becoming embarrassing grandparents, he would give anything for that future.
They had been together for so long, there were no doubts about staying together.
Still, Terry found himself nervous at the thought of marriage.
He wanted to ask, he wanted nothing more than to ask to be with her forever.
He knew, without a doubt, he would eventually - or she would beat him to it.
The concept of when, when to ask, was what made him anxiously bite at his lips or nails.
An unspoken expectation to have the perfect moment, something everyone wished for. Or, at least he thought so, but he could assume that perhaps things like perfect moments only existed in movies. Glamorized standard romance, not everyone wants a sunset mountain top or beach proposal. Watching her splash around in the clear water, carefully inspect rocks, even dig a small stick from her hair, it was hard to imagine a perfect moment together. Every moment felt perfect, every moment felt right.
Maybe she would beat him to it after all.
Terry chuckled, smiling at that thought, she was always better at those things.
