Chapter Text
Frost walked calmly down the street; her brother, Medic was ranting about something through the comm.
“I mean I know that it’s not the apocalypse yet, and there are all kinds of propaganda but why did nobody question our home life? Like seriously, our mom was in the mental hospital, our older brother was dead and our youngest was a walking red flag.”
“Are you done? I’m at the entrance of the club.” Frost sighed.
“Yeah, I’ll stop. Are you going to make it a spectacle or are you doing it stealthily?”
“Stealth, can you do surveillance? My eyes are a bit...”
“Sure, I’ll send out a drone.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem, but if you got time after we need a few things from the store.”
“I’m not getting you merch just so you can burn it.”
“Why not sis? I’d do it responsibly. Think of it as me having an outlet for my destructive impulses.”
“By destroying dolls?”
“You don’t have to phrase it like that, I don’t judge your coping mechanisms.”
“You’re literally helping me.”
“There’s an entrance at the back, think you can blend in as one of the workers?”
“Definitely not, I’ll just sneak past.”
A woman with long dark purple hair tied in a ponytail walked down the busy street. She wore headphones and left ear was missing and scarred but her right had an earphone jack, she was missing two fingers on her left arm and walked with a slight limp, but it wasn’t noticeable unless you were looking carefully.
“You seem frustrated Radio, chill it’ll be fine.”
Next to her was a young man her age with an oversized trench coat, long brown hair in a messy braid,
He had fingerless gloves and was gently petting a pink bird on his shoulder.
“Just do your job Soul and I’ll do mine. Thief, Shadow are you in position?” she asked into the comm.
“We’re both here, waiting for the signal.”
“Other?”
“I’m ready as I’ll ever be baby.” A woman answered from the other side of the comm.
They stopped in front of an old beautiful-looking home.
Radio’s never been there before but she knew much about it, Shie Hassaikai Compound, the place where Hope was tortured.
She sighed before taking a syringe filled with a red liquid and injecting it into herself, she paused her music, took out a gun and plugged her earphone jack into her boots. Soul backed away a bit and put on his own pair of headphones.
A thick colourful fog surrounded them before taking the shape and making a large number of police officers appear, Radio hummed and a large shockwave came from her boots making the ground and building shake, civilians started running away and Soul could hear a child crying.
“Find her Pino,” he whispered to the bird on his shoulder, it flew into the building just as a bunch of Yakuza thugs came outside.
Frost entered through the back door as quietly as possible, Medic guided her to the secret entrance while keeping an eye out.
“Can’t hack the door, you’ll either need to trick them or find another way in.”
“Don’t have the patience for that,” she could hear her brother sigh, but she ignored it in favour of frosting the door.
She put a hand on it to test the temperature before kicking it with all force making it shatter. She runs inside not caring about keeping a low profile, she froze any guards that came her way until she reached the end of the corridor and kicked a door open.
Inside were a bunch of children all restrained in ways to keep their quirks inaccessible.
She freed the first kid before ordering him to help her free the others.
“Are you a hero?” a little boy, about six asked her.
“Kinda, my little brother is a hero. Now, how about you follow me and I’ll get you to the police, they can call your parents so they can come and pick you up,” she held out her hand to the kid, the same way she used to for her students.
The kids screamed as the building started crumbling.
“Kids get under the table! GET UNDER THE TABLE!” blue flames erupted from behind a door and a scarred hand grabbed her and pulled her out.
She didn’t look at her saviour's face, too shocked at what happened or she just couldn’t bare to look at him, all she could do was stare at the rubble that used to be a school, she could see a bit of blood coming from the bottom of the building, and was that a hand sticking out.
She forced her memories away as the kid clung to her as she walked them all out of the basement.

Eri tried not to cry as Chronostasis carried her while walking along with Overhaul. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a weird pink bird.
Suddenly the shadows began to gather in a corner and a man with a smug expression stepped out of them.
“So, you’re the flu-spreading dodo bird I was tasked with collecting.” His blond hair was cut unevenly, and his blue eyes were hollow but filled with anger only the gods could match. The oddest part about him was his outfit, he wore a black baggy hoodie with a picture of Vlad King printed on it, and he had about a dozen bracelets on both of his arms and legs, all of them were different colours and seemed well worn, he had simple sneakers that seemed to be new. “Frankly I’m unimpressed. Taking out your bullets was child’s play.” He turned his gaze to the girl trembling in Chronostasis’s arms and gave her a reassuring smile. “Hi Eri, I’m Thief. My friends and I are here to rescue you. Sorry if we scared you.”
“He’ll kill you.” She warned.
“Filth you don’t know who you’re messing with.” Overhaul took off his glove and was about to touch the floor, but the shadows came to life and grabbed his arms dragging the man up into the air.
“Oh, how silly of me, I forgot to introduce my colleagues, that’s Shadow, they’re a bit hard to see sometimes.”
A man and two women entered from one of the entrances. The pink bird from earlier flew to the man and landed on his shoulder.
“That’s Soul, he hates Humarise, and you remind him of them,” Soul’s expression was cold as he looked at the two men.
“Only cowards hurt children.”
Chronostasis pulled a gun from his coat and shot one of the prototype bullets at Thief, but a loud sonic blast intercepted it shooting the bullet straight into a wall.
“That’s Radio, she’s the one who tore the building down, I wouldn’t get on her bad side if I were you.”
“Too late for that, they already are.”
The air began to fill with a colourful fog and dozens of Souls appeared each one with an Eri in their arms Chronostasis turned his head to check on Eri but instead of the girl, he saw a large flower bag in his arms.
“And how could I forget Other, you should really be more careful when she’s around you know, otherwise you might see something that’s not there.”
Overhaul desperately tried to get out of the giant shadow’s arms, but it wasn’t working, suddenly the pain around his arms increased and he was falling blood leaving a trail in the air. He screamed as he realised his arms from the elbows down were still in the monster's hold.
Before he could run and help his boss Chronostasis was bound with tape, he followed the tape until he reached Thief, now with the tape coming out of his elbow.
“Here,” Other threw Thief a cleaver which the man effortlessly caught, the fog began to disappear along with all the Souls and Eris. Even the original that was near the two women was gone, “meet you back at the base, don’t forget to put the meat into a freezer for Nerve.”

The police arrived on the scene first, Sir Nighteye and his agency arrived not five minutes later. The place was in a wreck, part of the outside was collapsed, the inside was not much better, the lab was completely destroyed all the evidence inside was burned, Backdraft was putting out a fire. Police officers were carrying body bags outside. The hallways were covered in blood, one room had a sharp smell of ozone that made the hair on the back of his neck stand up.
“Anything?” Nighteye asked.
“Everyone except two are dead, well three but he’s been in a coma for years from what we gathered,” Tsukauchi reported.
“Who survived?” Bubble Girl asked.
“Kai Chisaki alias Overhaul, he’s alive but probably not for long. He’s missing all of his limbs, both ears, eyes and tongue. His head was also messily shaved leaving him with wounds on his head. His wounds were cauterised when we got here. He’s in the hospital now for intensive care.”
“Dear lord,” Centipeder mumbles.
“Hari Kurono alias Chronostasis, his head was shaven off and has a mild concussion, but other than that he’s fine, he was wrapped up with more tape than I’ve ever seen. The third person is Nerufukai Chisaki the former boss, but he’s been in a coma for years.”
“Anything we have on the villains who did this?” Nighteye asked.
“Leader was called Thief, he had a tape quirk, he used a clever to chop Overhaul to pieces and put them in a portable cooler, someone called Shadow, looked like a living shadow, chopped Overhauls arms off with their bare hands, a woman called Echo with a sound quirk, she had an earphone jack for her right ear, a man called Soul, he had a pink bird with him, spoke with an accent, and another woman called Other, an illusion quirk that took form in a colourful fog, they also mentioned Nerve, he’s a vigilante with a water breathing quirk. Looks like more vigilantes in this group.”
“Jesus,” Centipeder muttered.
“How many vigilantes are there in this group?” Bubble Girl asked.
“Twelve. Thief, Shadow, Echo, Soul, Other, Nerve, Viridian, Radio and Hero,” Tsuauchi counted.
Sansa came up to them with a blank expression before handing the phone to Tsuauchi.
Nighteye watched as the man's face went through all the stages of grief before ageing a few years.
“Make that fifteen, we have two women Frost and Discord. Frost busted a child trafficking ring and Discord stopped a bank robbery,”
