“Considering my hangover, I believe you.” He snags his t-shirt from the back of a chair and draws it over his head. “What did we do?”
A tiny, hollow plink draws his attention to the little table where a gold band spins on the faux wood. “Check your left hand, Bradford.”
Reflexively, he does as she says. On his ring finger sits a wide band, the same cheap bright yellow color of the one now lying accusingly on the breakfast table. He’s momentarily dumbstruck. They wouldn’t have. Would they have? The only thing he can think to say is, “we couldn’t have sprung for a nicer set?”
