Chapter Text
Aurora flew them to the base of the Tower Bridge. She set her two companions down gently, and sheathed her wings and looked up at the bridge.
"Tower Bridge." She hummed, "A bridge built by angels."
Sebastian nodded slowly, "A sacred bridge. But it's believers are worse than demons."
Aurora shuddered at that. The immortals turned to Ciel, "Are you sure about this, Ciel?" Aurora said, "After this there is no turning back. You will..." She trailed off, looking at Sebastian who confirmed her fears with a slow nod.
"Die?" Ciel finished, "I know."
They were at the top of the bridge after Aurora flew them up. The angel maid's wings were snow white, with hints of white gold- though still decorated with flecks of red and pinkish gold from the blood. Ciel glared coldly at Ash, who was reveling in the fire's eerie glow. "You were responsible for Her Majesty's loss of future sight. Weren't you?" He asked.
Ash chuckled darkly, "She became impure, I did what I had to do."
Aurora stepped forward, wings flaring out to act as a shield. "Any last words, Ash?" She asked as she pulled her rapier. Ash grinned, "You wouldn't kill me, princess... Not when I can tell you the reason your father had to die."
Aurora stiffened. Ash laughed, "Yes... Your father may have been the Arch Angel, but he had committed an unforgivable sin. Do you know what sin that was, Aurora?" Aurora shook her head slowly. "No. You're lying."
Ash chuckled, "I never lied to you, your father breached your cinematic record. Aurora, he stole your life from you. And do you know why?" Aurora was shaking now. Ash grinned, "He couldn't bear the thought of seeing you leave him. He committed the sin of greed. He wanted you all for himself. When locking you up in Heaven's tallest tower didn't work- he erased your mind. And he entrusted me to do so."
Aurora shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "No! No your lying!" Ash walked over, wings flared out behind him. Tears spilled down Aurora's cheeks as she shrunk back as the other angel loomed over her. Sebastian glanced to his master, then back at Aurora.
Ash smiled slyly, and then held out his hand which held a bit of what looked to be dust. "Your suffering will be over soon, Angelica." A soft breeze lifted the dust from his palm, sending it into Aurora's eyes.
She felt lightheaded.
Is this it? She asked herself, as suddenly Sebastian was over her, shaking her, his words falling on numb ears.
Am I dying?
The demon's eyes were glowing furiously.
I've never seen him so mad...
What's happening....
She felt water on her face.
He's crying. Why is he crying? Demons don't cry.
The demon's attention was attracted elsewhere, and a snarl fixed on his face and she saw through hazy eyes the dark blackness engulf him as he launched himself aside.
What... Where is he going?
What's happening?
Her vision suddenly wavered, and she watched as she began to roll off the breaking Tower Bridge.
Sebastian...
Sebastian, I'm falling. Don't let me fall. I don't think I'll survive that kind of fall in this state...
She watched herself tumble down, only to have Ciel catch her hand and hold them for a moment before they both fell, the tower crumbling after them.
No... Why can't I....
Her vision faded one final time, and she felt nothing. The last thing she heard, was a splash and sinking metal.

When she fell into the river, Sebastian pursued. He secured his master first, then made haste to find the blonde's body.
Angelica... Angelica, where are you?
It was the glint of the butler's pin on her breast that caught his eye. Swimming quickly towards the body, blood spilled from her wounded shoulder and the bullet marks on her wings. Those would heal, he would make sure of it. Pulling her from under a metal beam, he looked down at her for a moment.
She looked dead. Gritting his teeth in anger, he swam quickly to the surface, balancing her on his back while swimming with his one arm to the boat. Tossing her in alongside his master, he pulled himself in. "Angelica. Angelica, darling- this isn't time for your games. Angelica, this isn't funny! Darling, wake up!" He shook her roughly. Her head lolled to the side, water spilling from between her lips.
Panic was setting in. He set both hands on her chest, beginning to pump, counting as he did.
One, two, three....
"Come on, love... Don't do this to me."
One, two, three...
"I only just got you back..."
He leaned down, pressing his mouth against hers, breathing into her mouth. Nothing. Tears raced to his eyes as he snarled, "Dammit, Angelica. Don't do this. Not this time, love. Come on. Come on."
"Hehe... Silly chest compressions won't bring your lovely back, Master butler."
Sebastian's eyes flew immediately to the Undertaker in a nearby boat, crazed smile on his face. Sebastian growled, "What do you mean? She can't be dead. I won't allow it." The reaper hummed, "She's an Arch, making her a demoness won't react to her body well. If she lives for even a second, she'll be in agony."
Sebastian snarled, "And what would you suggest?! I will not leave her to die!" The Undertaker smiled, "Then you may wish to listen to what I have to say...."
Angelica felt dizzy.
Oww.....
Why do I feel so-
She sat up with a gasp as every memory came rushing back.
"Malphas!" She gasped, "Malphas! Where-"
"Ah, awake now are we, deary?" The angel's head whipped around to see the Undertaker sitting across from her, a plate of biscuits beside him, and a teacup at hand.
"Undertaker? What- what?" She stopped then. Everything came flooding back. "Malphas." She breathed, "Where is Malphas?" Undertaker leaned back. "I believe he's taken the young lord to the Demon Ruins. To consume his soul."
Angelica flinched. She had simply adored Ciel. She was saddened to see him go, but as an angel she had lived for thousands of years. Befriended many, only to watch them die from old age. Undertaker moved forward to help her to her feet. "Your demon friend has asked me to tend to you, he was quite worried when you went through the cycle of rebirth."
Angelica furrowed her brow, "Rebirth?" She questioned. Undertaker grinned, "You see my dear, you are the child of an Arch Angel. While you may be put on the to die list, you will simply relive all of your life before regenerating. The powder that Ash used on you could very well have killed any regular angel, but you- you are not completely a pure angel are you?" Aurora said nothing.
"My mother may have been Fallen, but that doesn't make me any less of an angel."
Undertaker chuckled, "On the contrary my lady, it makes you simply one hell of an angel."
Sebastian Michaelis trudged slowly back to the Phantomhive Manor. His arm was going to need to regenerate. And his disappointment about missing out on the Earl's soul was strong. He stopped, seeing the manor fully repaired. As he entered the main hall, he caught the scent of her.
Walking slowly to the next room, he found her. She was in the parlor, dressed in an angelic gown of white satin and black lace. He breathed a sigh,
"Aurora?"
She turned, smiling at him. Her silver blue eyes... just as he remembered from their youth. She took a slow step towards him.
"Malphas." She whispered, "It's been so long."
The demon stared at her for a moment before he was suddenly in front of her, his one arm pulling her into a tight hug. "You remember..." Aurora smiled, "I can thank Ash for that one thing."
She looked at him worriedly then, her eyes widening at the sight of his missing arm. "What happened?!" She cried, looking to the wound at once. She looked at him alarmed, "Are you alright?!" Sebastian purred, "I will be fine, my angel." He sighed, "I wish I heeded your warning from before- angelic weapons are not to be trifled with." Aurora smirked, "You remember that? All these years?"
Sebastian looked down at her, "But of course," he replied. "I remember every moment." Aurora sighed and put her hand to his arm. Sebastian relaxed against her as he felt his arm regenerate, feeling stronger already as his contract seal became faintly visible. Aurora smiled, holding the hand delicately. "It will be some time before you will be able to use your demonic powers, but your contract should hold."
He hummed, "Thank you, darling." Aurora hummed seductively, grabbing his tie, "You can thank me when we're in flagrante, mon amour."
The demon smirked, "You missed me so?"
Aurora looked up at him, "Of course. I haven't seen my love in what feels like millennia." Sebastian sighed, "Darling- to me it was. You know the Hellscape is chaotic. There is no such thing as a true time. It was several millennia..." Aurora pulled him into a gentle embrace, "I never meant to leave you for so long... I didn't know what they were going to do..."
Sebastian sighed, hands circling around her waist, "Ah, love.... Keep talking. I haven't heard your voice in so long.... I've spent every day trying to remember it." Aurora looked up at him, smile on her face. "So, now that you've had your fill- I was thinking-"
"Darling."
Aurora looked at him, "What is it?" She asked, putting a hand to his face, "You do not seem any more powerful. You seem... upset." Sebastian sighed, "It is why I said I wish I had listened to your warning of angelic weapons."
He frowned, "The contract was compromised due to my absent seal."
Aurora looked worried, even more so as he brought her up the stairs to the earl's bedroom where his body lay dormant. Her eyes widened, "How- what?" Sebastian held her close, "Because Ash removed my arm, I was without it and the contract seal, in conclusion it voided our contract."
Aurora's eyes widened, "A loophole." Sebastian nodded, "Indeed. Because our contract was voided, another demon took the chance to steal the young lord's soul. However it is impossible for the demon to devour it." Aurora frowned, "How so?" Sebastian smiled, looking down at his new arm.
"With the contract seal it makes it impossible. And if he's already eaten it, the soul will be ripped from his body and the souls he has eaten will merge with the young master's and return to me." Aurora looked confused, "Then why do anything?"
Sebastian's eyes darkened. "Because this demon is setting a trap. Or he has been ordered to." Aurora stood, eyes flashing silver with determination. "Then let's not waste anymore time." She held out her hand to her demon.
"Let us rescue our young master. Together."
