Work Text:
You are cordially invited to attend the mating ceremony of Bang Chan and Lee Yongbok.
“Are you going?”
“Are you for real, Sunoo-ah?” Jongseong glares at him, lips in a tight line.
“What?” he shrugs, crossing his arms.
Jungwon grunts, rolling his eyes, before he takes the invitation from Jake’s hands, “Are you okay?”
The Australian alpha nods with a small smile, one that doesn’t reach his eyes, before he sighs, “Is it okay if I stay back? I don’t want to ruin anyone’s day there.”
“Sure, hyung, whatever you need,” the alpha leader pats his shoulder.
One by one, his members comfort him in their own manner.
Heeseung pets his hair a little. Jay and Sunghoon give him a gentle head bump, and Jake lets out a breathy laugh. Sunoo and Niki rub their cheeks against his, like the pups they are. Jungwon’s the only one that hugs him, very pack leader of him, making sure Jake knows his pack’s got his back.
“Thank you,” he looks at each of them then at the invitation in Jungwon’s hands. “When is it again?”
“The next full moon.”
“Very traditional, huh?” there’s no trace of amusement in Jake’s chuckle.
Standing on the border between their territories, Jake waits. Along the invisible division line, he wanders, always reaching the place where, the previous spring, he knocked a beautiful white wolf down. A rogue omega running away from an arranged commitment.
Unknowingly, the love of his life.
Memories of their days together play before him like an old movie, those are the proof that their feelings were real. That he was real.
Felix’s laughter echoing in his little cottage.
Felix’s deep voice calling his name from across the meadow.
Felix’s eyes staring at him with such warm affection.
Felix’s words during their last night together.
Felix’s last kiss.
Although the seasons change, his life remains the same; the only difference is the Felix-shaped hole in his heart.
Even now, his alpha howls for the omega, returning every night, hoping to find him there. The place where it all started. Jake waits until midnight turns to dawn, staring at the horizon, as if Felix would come out of it.
Life’s unfair.
Fate has seen Jake pluck out dandelion after dandelion, blowing them to the wind, wishing for Felix since the day he left. No matter how much his bruised heart longs for his beloved omega, no response ever reaches the alpha. No calls, no messages, nothing until the invitation, the one that crushed him inside, the one that confirms their end.
Felix’s final goodbye.
“How cruel of you,” Jake whispers to the sky, “do you really think I could witness as you give yourself to someone else?”
Tears well up in his eyes, as he scrunches up his nose, “I’m trying to be happy for you, but I can’t do it. I can’t be there. If you’ve already fallen in love with him, then it’s all good… but if you haven’t? How could I live knowing you’re suffering?”
Gritting his teeth, Jake clenches his fists, “I’m so sorry for loving you like I do, perhaps all of it could’ve been less painful if we had never met… I can’t go, Felix, I just can’t!” angrily wiping off his cheeks, he growls, “But if he ever hurts you… I’ll rip his throat out myself.”
“Jaeyun-ah…”
Jake whips his head toward Felix’s territory, looking around. His back straightens, his senses focusing, when a voice behind him nearly makes him jump out of his skin.
“Jaeyun-ah.”
“Heeseung hyung!” Jake clutches at his chest, breathing deeply, “Don’t do that! You scared the hell out of me!”
“Sorry, I didn’t want to interrupt you… you seemed to be… inspired,” the beta explains with an apologetic expression. “Are you okay?”
"Mmh," the alpha hums, his attention flitting elsewhere.
"I mean, with… the ceremony," Heeseung stands next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder, "and Felix."
Jake blinks up at him, opening and closing his mouth, "I…" he bites his lower lip, "I don't know, hyung, I just can't stop thinking about him."
"It's been a year, Jaeyun-ah, I understand you might have felt a connection… but you can't keep on coming back here every night, you're only hurting yourself," his lips press into a thin line. "He's to be Bang Chan's mate, there's nothing to do."
"Hyung," Jake furrows his brows a bit, "would you let go of Taehyunnie if you were in my position?"
Heeseung's eyes widen a bit then drop to his feet, " Yes , Jaeyun, I would if he was another alpha's mate, especially to an alpha that defeated me in battle and spared my life."
"Since when do we follow such traditional ideals?" the alpha snorts.
"Since we nearly watched you die," Heeseung's stern tone surprises the alpha. "Believe me, we're hurting just as much. Felix grew on all of us, but you're our pack, our blood, and we don't want you to continue doing this to yourself."
"Hyung…"
"We love you, Jaeyun-ah, so please, think about it."
Jake takes a deep breath, nodding, then leans his head on Heeseung's shoulder. The beta drapes an arm around him, letting the alpha silently cry. Despite their respective ranks, Heeseung's older than Jake and protects him like the hyung he is, making sure the alpha feels safe.
Jake knows what he has to do.
Sunghoon's eyes follow Sunoo around like the lovesick puppy he is. The omega rushes back and forth, helping each member with the last touches on their makeup and clothes, since he has to make sure everyone looks their best.
It's their first social event as a pack, after all.
They must give the best of impressions to the other guest packs.
"Hyung, can you, please, stop staring and help Riki-ah with his tie?" Sunoo's voice is sweet but his smile's slightly sarcastic.
Sunghoon tries to come up with a retort but fails, choosing to do as he's told instead. Riki hands him over his tie, and his hyung is just as confused.
"Oh, I'm not the best at this either…" he mumbles, and Niki giggles, both struggling together with the fabric.
"I got this," Jake comes up to them, gently moving Sunghoon aside to do the knot. Once he fixes it, he softly pats Niki's chest. "All done, Niki-san."
"Thank you, hyung," Riki mixes Korean and Japanese, grinning at him, before he sprints to show it off to Jungwon. The alpha praises him, beaming.
"You're really not going?" Jongseong pipes in, hands in his pockets, as Sunoo fixes his bangs.
Jake shakes his head, "Nah, but you have fun! You know mating ceremonies can get wild," he gives them thumbs up. "By the way, where's Heeseung hyung?"
"Where do you think?" Sunoo rolls his eyes with a laugh.
Jongseong points behind Jake with a head movement, so the alpha turns to see their eldest pack member playing around with his mate.
Taehyun's part of another pack, but he and Heeseung fell in love the moment they met. After the beta courted the omega for a few months, that mating season sealed the deal. Each year, they go back and forth between their territories and packs, being part of both so neither of them had to give a part of them up.
Now, here they are, two wolves chasing each other, skipping and dashing around, in a dance of their own. Heeseung's irish spotted fur makes a beautiful contrast to Taehyun's sable red one, and Jake can't help but envy them a little bit.
"Sunoo-ah, can I ask you for a favor?"
"Sure!"
Mating ceremonies are very similar to weddings. The only difference is that packs come from different places to witness the exchange of biting marks between the promised couple. Traditionally though, mating ceremonies are only between alphas and omegas, or betas and omegas; however, all ranks have them nowadays.
None of that is needed anymore, as a lot of couples prefer to have their bite exchange in privacy.
In a big open clearing, amidst a sea of yellow dandelions and chrysanthemums, Jungwon leads them to the center. Some familiar faces come and go, as Felix’s pack welcomes the guests and checks that every detail is perfect.
It's such a big event, and nothing should go wrong. Chan's pack is one of the strongest packs in Korea, and everyone knows better than to be on his wrong side, including his own pack members—all except for his runaway omega.
Seungmin recognizes them, walking up to them, “Welcome, thank you for attending,” he bows slightly, “I see that one of you won’t be joining us.”
Sunghoon’s nose wrinkles a bit, his mouth twitching, so Sunoo hurries to grab his hand, “He’s… sick,” the beta grunts out, grounding himself by holding tightly onto the omega's hand.
“I understand,” Seungmin nods, not minding the light hostility, and extends an arm. “Follow me.”
“I’ll be with hyungs and Kai, okay?” Taehyun whispers to Heeseung, who smiles, kissing his forehead before he lets his mate go to his own pack.
Almost every seat is occupied already. Some of the wolves watch them, analyzing their demeanor and dynamics. They're not a pack with a historical inheritance or a powerful family behind it, and they're breaking with tradition, it's best to show they're a strong pack from the beginning.
Though a mating ceremony isn't the best scenario to do so, especially not this one.
Touching one of the chrysanthemums running along the wooden benches, Sunoo mumbles, “Such sad flowers for a bonding ceremony,” at his left, Jongseong hums in agreement.
“Yongbok-ah picked them,” Seungmin explains, clearly aware of their meaning too. “These are your seats, if you need anything, you can tell me or any of my packmates.”
They exchange another round of polite bows before the other omega steps away to guide the rest of the guests. Sunoo’s about to sit next to the aisle, but Jungwon gently moves him to his right. His leader—and pack alpha—instinct to keep their only omega close to them is unusually present, especially surrounded by unknown wolves.
At the right end of their row, Jongseong and Sunghoon notice some alphas stealing glances at their pack's omega, but it's hard for one of them to remain impassive.
“Sunoo hyung’s pretty popular among alphas, huh?” Niki jokes, and Heeseung rolls his eyes with a smile. “You think it’ll be enough for Sunghoon hyung to finally make a move?”
“Don’t tease Hoon-ah, Niki-yah,” the eldest pulls his hyung card, and the maknae huffs, sitting back straight.
"Hoon-ah, chill, no one will make a move on Sunoo," Jongseong reassures the blonde, whose expression is nothing but annoyed.
"I'm fine, Sunoo's a free omega," Sunghoon speaks between his teeth, but he keeps an eye on Sunoo at all times.
On the other end, Sunoo leans closer to Jungwon, “Jungwonnie, you think Jake hyung will come?”
Jungwon looks at him then toward the distance, wondering the exact same thing.
Changbin and Jisung pace around the entire place, while Jeongin and Minho set large amounts of food and drinks on the feasting table by the other end of the clearing. Seungmin counts heads, keeping track of the guests.
Felix is nowhere to be seen, and the young pack starts getting uneasy.
"How long do we have to wait for this to start?" Niki complains, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Jungwon glares at him, and that's enough to have the youngest apologizing, lowering his head a bit.
"I can't wait to see Lix hyung, I'm sure he'll look stunning," Sunoo wiggles in his spot, biting his lower lip. "I always wanted to attend a mating ceremony."
"Relax, Sunoo-yah," nearly crushing Jongseong, Heeseung, and Niki, Sunghoon reaches over to pat Sunoo's head, and the omega blushes, nodding.
Jongseong raises an eyebrow, about to say something, when Chan takes his position at the altar. Changbin and Jisung quickly stand next to him, hands behind their backs. On the opposite side, Seungmin mirrors the alphas' stance.
Opening the way for Felix, Hyunjin covers the path with a shower of yellow and white petals. He stops next to Seungmin, clearing his throat, "Our omega will walk down the aisle now, please, stand."
The crowd does so, turning to see Minho offering his arm to Felix, who gracefully links his own with his, to head down the aisle.
Most omegas gasp in awe at the sight.
Felix is a vision in white.
Straight out of a high couture magazine, lace and mesh mix perfectly with the flowy ivory fabric. His shirt reveals his collarbones, just so for his alpha to bite him, and it falls down to his thighs, matched with silk pants. His bare feet barely peek out as he takes delivered steps.
His eyes sparkle with glittery eyeshadow, hues of golden and silver reflect the sunlight, and pretty rhinestones adorn his lower lash line. His long eyelashes flutter like butterflies in the wind. A glossy rouge tint makes his lips look full, ready to be kissed too.
His hair is half tied, much longer than it used to be—he clearly didn't cut it since the last time the pack saw him—it cascades to his shoulders, but it's now a beautiful shade of chocolate brown. On top of it, he wears a flower crown made of the same types that surround them.
His bouquet, though, it's made up of yellow carnations and purple hyacinths.
Jongseong and Sunoo share a knowing look, about to comment on it, just as someone beats them to it.
"Felix hyung doesn't love Chan-ssi."
The pack side glances at their alpha leader, taken aback by his blunt remark.
"What? He looks pretty happy to me," Niki pipes in, ever the naïve unpresented pup.
"His bouquet practically screams I don't want this, I love someone else though," Sunoo counters too.
"Well, I don't plan on ruining a fucking mating ceremony over a bouquet," Sunghoon whispers back, and Sunoo hushes him. "Jake isn't even here!"
As soon as Heeseung opens his mouth to pipe in, his whole body tenses. Immediately, he searches for Taehyun, feeling something is off with his mate.
His omega leans on Kai’s shoulder, a hand to his forehead, then Yeonjun is helping him sit down.
Something’s clearly wrong with him, but he doesn't want to do anything rash; however, as soon as Taehyun calls for him through their bond, Heeseung’s out of his seat.
His instinct to protect Taehyun takes over, so he rushes over to check on him, jumping over benches.
The commotion catches Felix’s attention, “Heeseung-ssi?” he lets go of Minho to see what's going on, worried for everyone's safety. Chan nods at the beta, so Minho accompanies him, "Please, give them some space,” the omega requests to some of the guests that gathered around the couple.
“Taehyunnie, what’s wrong?” Heeseung delicately cups his face.
“I don’t know, I was fine a second ago…” the omega looks over at Felix, clearly apologetic. “I’m so sorry, hyung, please, go on, I’ll step away for a bit.”
“No, no,” Felix doesn’t even hesitate to kneel next to him, not caring if his attire gets dirt all over. “You’re my friend and guest, I wanna make sure you’re okay. The ceremony and Chan hyung can wait a little bit, right, Minho hyung?”
Minho hesitates but agrees, so Taehyun visibly relaxes, “Thank you,” he sighs, “I really have no idea what happened.”
“Well, Taehyun-ah,” Felix glances at Heeseung then back at Taehyun, “I think you might be expecting.”
“Yongbok-ah, are you sure?” Yeonjun takes Taehyun’s left hand, bringing his wrist up to his nose. Beomgyu leans in too, carefully smelling the younger, and both discover that the younger omega's scent has changed, “Why didn’t he show any symptoms before?”
While everyone chatters about possible theories, Heeseung and Taehyun take a moment to process the news. The omega stresses over it, already thinking of all the possible negative outcomes; nevertheless, his beta is there to pull him away from those thoughts.
Heeseung nuzzles Taehyun, pecking his lips, "I love you," and that's enough for him to breathe again. The couple still has a lot to figure out together, but that can wait until they're not delaying a mating ceremony. “Tell me if you need anything, okay?”
"Maybe because he hadn't been around Heeseung hyung?" Beomgyu wonders out loud, and Soobin helps him back to his feet. "I only started showing symptoms a bit before Soobin came back from an overseas trip."
"We did play a little rough before we came here too," Heeseung rubs his omega's shoulders, and Taehyun leans against him.
"That could've affected too, but I don't think it matters anymore," Felix smiles at the couple. "Congratulations!"
Felix watches Heeseung silently squeeze Taehyun’s hand, a silent I’m here for you that feels very intimate, so the omega looks away for a second. Something so little could trigger such big consequences if Felix lets his feelings unguarded; rather than that, he calmly stands up with Minho’s help.
Taehyun wraps his arms around Heeseung's middle, and his beta kisses the top of his head, "Is it okay if I stay with him?"
"For sure," Felix makes a hand signal to Seungmin, who gives an okay sign back. "I'm very happy for you."
"Thank you, hyung," they say in unison.
"We should get on with it," Minho interrupts, and Felix consents. "The rest, please, go back to your seats."
Felix is the sun, and Jake is just his satellite.
Even in the distance, across the field, the alpha easily spots him: the most beautiful flower of them all.
The sight of Felix in white brings back all the pain, but Jake doesn't fight it. He embraces it. Felix never meant to hurt him, their feelings were real, but no one can have it all.
Jake can't get the love and the person, so he prefers to let go.
Careful not to step too close, avoiding any kind of unwanted attention, he walks around once the ceremony starts.
His pack is too absorbed in their own world to notice his presence, which is probably for the better. Jake watches Niki staring at Jungwon as the alpha gossips with Sunoo, and Sunghoon is eavesdropping on them. Strangely, Jongseong's attention is on another guest, sitting a few rows behind them.
Heeseung almost sees him before Taehyun feels sick, and Jake’s about to join them, yet Felix is faster.
If Jake wasn’t madly in love before, witnessing Felix leaving aside his own ceremony to focus on one of his friends, making sure everyone’s fine, only makes Jake adore him even more.
Life really has favorites, and Felix is one of them.
Chan waits patiently, giving the omega as much time as he needs, but never attempts to be next to him, which pisses Jake off a bit. Why can't he drop the stupid alpha act and support his future mate? Understanding Felix's caring nature isn't enough, he should always be by his side.
Jake holds himself back, remembering the scars Chan left on him the last time they fought. The lines across his body are a constant reminder of his failure. He knows better now, knows his place, and knows Felix would bring him back from death only to kill Jake himself if he dares to challenge Chan again.
It doesn't take them long to resume the ceremony, so he moves back, half hidden behind a tree.
His heart drops a bit as Felix smiles gratefully at Chan, who stretches his hand out for the omega to take.
Together, they look like the perfect alpha and omega couple, ready to lead one of the strongest wolf packs.
Jake has nothing to offer.
He's not even his own pack's alpha, how could he ever think of being with Felix? The omega deserves the world, something Chan can give him. There's no point in even trying.
The only thing left for Jake to do is wish for Felix’s happiness, no matter how sad… or lonely, that makes him.
A streak of blonde hair catches Felix’s eyes in the near distance.
“Congratulations.”
Felix fights the tears to keep his smile, but his eyes are focused on something, someone, so close yet so far.
“Be happy.”
His vision’s turning blurry, but he refuses to blink, afraid that he might just be an illusion.
“I love you.”
A single tear rolls down Felix’s cheek.
Jake's wolfy grin is genuine and sweet, just like it used to.
When Jake turns to leave, only Felix’s heart goes after him.
The preacher’s words jumble in his head, unable to comprehend any of them, because he can only think of Jake. The alpha he's still in love with, unlike the love he feels for the alpha in front of him.
Felix’s omega is restless, howling and sniveling, calling out to Jake. Somehow, he manages to force his wolf down, finally focusing on Chan again.
Felix inhales sharply, almost afraid, at Chan’s knowing look.
Quickly, he lowers his head and closes his eyes, exposing his neck in submission.
“Go to him.”
Felix freezes, still staring down.
“Go to him, Felix.”
“Christopher…”
The alpha kisses his forehead, “It’s okay, I’ll handle things here, and we’ll talk later, okay? Now go.”
By the time the guests gasp in shock, Felix’s already racing across the clearing.
Jake picks up a dandelion, one of the many that grow in the pots on his window sill.
“This is the last wish I make for you.”
The wind blows it away before he can do it.
Life has defeated him one last time.
Just as he's about to head in, a rustle startles him, and he catches a glimpse of something skipping among the branches.
A flash of white.
The alpha takes a hesitant step forward, then another, then another, until he’s running towards it.
Specks of dandelions dance all around, little white dots twirling in the breeze, as their eyes meet.
He barely opens his arms before a gorgeous white wolf jumps on top of him, but an angel falls into his arms, backwards onto the ground.
“You’re blonde now,” it’s the first thing he hears from Felix’s deep voice, his smile nearly blinding him.
“You’re… here,” Jake’s out of breath, not because Felix knocked it out, but because he’s feeling all at once. It's almost too much, “Is this an illusion? Am I dreaming?”
Longing, pain, disbelief… and happiness.
Felix shakes his head, not saying anything because he knows only sobs would come out, but he holds Jake’s face in his hands. They rub their cheeks, noses, and foreheads together, hugging so tight, like their lives depend on it, like the other might disappear if they let go.
Jake fears Felix might be taken away from him again because he knows he wouldn’t be able to take it, he'd rather walk through hell than lose him again.
The omega looks down at him, tears glistening in his eyes, as petals fall from the crown atop his head, some of the flowers still weaved into his long dark locks.
One of Jake's hands picks a hyacinth out, "What are you sorry for, Felix hyung?"
"For leaving, for hurting you, for inviting you, for everything I did and didn't do…" like pearls, the salty drops run free, damping all the way to Jake’s neck, “I’m so sorry, Jaeyun, so damn sorry… you don’t have to accept my apology, I’ll understand if you don’t, I just wanted you to know.”
“That you’re sorry?” Jake wipes his cheeks, and Felix sniffs, nodding. “You have nothing to be sorry about.”
Still shaking from the sobs, Felix's bewildered, “What? How could I not—?”
“Felix hyung,” Jake forces the omega to look at him again, “love doesn’t leave just because the person does…” the alpha rubs the older’s cheekbone tenderly, “and I love you, I never stopped loving you, but I can’t give you what you deserve.”
“What are you talking about?”
Jake sits up with Felix still on his lap. Instead of explaining immediately, Jake takes a moment to admire Felix from up close. Like this, the rhinestones around his eyes sparkle, and he looks even more beautiful after shedding tears.
Under the last rays of sunlight, Felix glows as he stares at him, and Jake confirms the omega is his last love. It’s not just his alpha that adores him, it’s all of him.
Human and wolf, it's Felix for Jake.
“Bang Chan hyung is one of the head alphas, hyung. You two make so much sense together,” Jake fixes the omega’s messy locks. “You can have everything with him.”
“Who says I want everything?” Felix furrows his eyebrows, exasperation across his beautiful features. “All my life, I've been told what I want, like they could know it, just because I'm an omega expected to mate my pack's alpha, but the days I spent with you were the happiest of my entire life. You always listened to what I actually wanted, have you forgotten?”
"I just… I saw you at the ceremony, and our pack isn't like the rest."
"I love it that way!" Felix declares. "I love that Sunoo is comfortable despite being the only omega, I love that you don't mind being under Jungwon as an alpha, I love that Heeseung and Taehyun spend time with both packs, I love that Sunghoon and Jongseong are two betas older than their alpha, and I adore cutie unpresented Riki that just wants to play around all day… and I love a calm alpha that jumped into a fight just to get my freedom."
Jake grimances at that, "I lost though."
"Yeah, you might have lost the battle," Felix kisses his cheek, "but you won me."
“Will you leave when morning comes?” Jake wonders.
Felix thumbs an astray tear away, shaking his head.
Fondly, the omega bumps his nose with his Jake’s, like a playful puppy. Jake blushes at the unexpected display of affection, so innocent and pure. A little giggle bubbles out of Felix, then he rubs his cheek on Jake’s scent gland. The alpha melts, burying his nose amidst the dark locks and petals.
Their inner omega and alpha purr together, their intangible bond tingling, something that could only be shared by soulmates.
“Jake?”
“Yes, hyung?”
“Catch me!”
A black wolf runs after a white wolf through the woods. They dash and jump across branches and pits, almost dancing together, as they make their way to a familiar place.
As Felix arrives at the spot, he stops, confused, because Jake was right behind him. He’s about to shift back to his human form when a strong body knocks him down. Rolling around on the ground, Jake nuzzles Felix like a giant puppy, and Felix lovingly licks at the younger’s cheek. Jake friskily bites his ear, making the older shake his head.
From afar, the two wolves make a perfect yin and yang, while they lay curled up next to each other.
Now humans, Felix stares up at Jake.
“Caught you,” Jake announces proudly, beaming at him with that wolfy smile of his.
The omega murmurs, “You did,” he slips his fingers between Jake’s, willingly putting his arms over his head, and exposes his neck.
Jake gets the hint, leaning down to press his lips right on his pulse point. Felix inhales, eyes falling shut. He braces himself for the pain, but little vibrations tingle on his skin. The alpha’s giggling.
Something about Jake’s lightheartedness to every wolf tradition that’s engraved in him makes his heart ache in the best of ways. One of the many reasons why Felix fell for him.
It’s so easy for them to get lost in each other, that their kiss is long overdue.
A shy brush of lips at first turns into a deep kiss in no time. Fingers trail down Felix’s arms, running down the lines of his body, and the omega makes a small sound in the back of his throat. The alpha smiles, slipping his tongue inside the other’s mouth, who doesn’t even fight back. It’s moist and languid, not even exploring, just enjoying each other’s taste. Jake sucks on his tongue, and Felix gasps.
They have been away for far too long, and their instincts are part of their nature too.
“Jaeyun…” he breathes out, and he’s not the only one affected.
“We can go back,” the alpha’s cheeks are flushed, but he finishes, “if you want, of course.”
With the full moon upon them, the little cottage door slowly opens to reveal the same interior that welcomed Felix the first time. The same two doors, the same messy kitchen, and the same rug on the floor. Nothing's changed except for a frame sitting right in the center of the shelf above the fireplace.
It's a photo of Felix.
Jake took it after he came back from talking with Jungwon after Felix's sudden arrival. At the time, the omega's hair was a pretty shade of golden blonde, though it wasn't as long as it is now, Sunoo and Niki had the time of their lives braiding his soft locks and weaving little daisies into it. All Felix could do was stay still on the ground, letting the two maknaes do as they pleased. And to top it off, Heeseung placed a small sunflower crown on too.
Felix never knew Jake had taken a picture of him.
Much less framed it and put it as a centerpiece in his home.
"Jaeyun-ah…" Felix whispers, just because he wants to say his name. Just because he can say it. Just because he's really there with the boy he's been in love with since the moment he nearly broke his wrist.
Jake stands next to him, "May I?" Felix nods, letting him take off his crown, thoroughly picking the smooth petals out. "Are you hungry?"
Looking over at the kitchen, the omega flinches, "Please, tell me you didn't go back to making that horrible porridge."
"Well…"
"I'm good, thanks," Felix caresses his cheek with his thumb.
A strange silence falls upon them. Jake watches as Felix calmly paces around the space, smiling whenever every little detail still checks with his memory. It feels surreal, to have the omega with him again.
It’s like a perfect déjà vu to the first night Felix came into his life, just as beautiful, just as bright, just as bewitching.
Suddenly, Felix turns to the alpha, flashing a dazzling grin, before he reaches over to undo his shirt’s knot. Jake perks up, looking at the wall, very much taken aback by the omega’s boldness. The same way it’s always been between them:
Felix’s a recalcitrant omega whereas Jake’s a compliant alpha.
They're made and meant for each other.
“Like what you see?” Felix steps closer to him, the flowy fabric sliding down his shoulders.
Jake shyly bites his lower lip, gaze flitting down his exposed torso then back up, “I do.”
“I can see that,” the alpha realizes what the omega means as he bats his eyelashes at him. His red irises give him away, unable to hide his excitement, so he exhales to calm his erratic heart down. “It’s okay, I want you too,” Felix whispers as his petit hands unbutton Jake’s shirt.
Carefully, Jake untangles Felix’s half-up ponytail, letting his hair fall free. Grabbing the back of Felix’s thighs, the alpha picks him up, and the omega immediately wraps his arms around his neck.
They kiss again, and again, and again, as Jake takes them to the bedroom.
It’s so easy for them to fall together. The mattress dips under Felix’s weight, and Jake looks down at him, finding the most breathtaking sight in the omega sprawled over his sheets, his chocolate locks disheveled hair on his pillows, and his alpha just wants to ravish him. Felix smiles, fondly, and spreads his legs.
Jake licks his lips like a hungry wolf.
One by one, their clothes drop to the floor next to the bed. Hands all over each other. Jake leaves a trail of kisses down Felix’s neck and chest, and runs his tongue down his pretty cock.
The omega moans, grabbing a fistful of his hair, doing his best to keep his hips still. Wrapping a hand around his shaft, Jake rubs his cockhead with his thumb, teasing the slit with his tonguetip.
Taking his omega’s length in deeper, the alpha relaxes his throat. Felix tenses, bucking up a bit. Jake hums, swallowing around him, and the brunette nearly doubles over.
Jake traces along his lithe frame, fingertips burning Felix’s already heated skin. He’s leaking with so little. His hole’s already dripping with slick.
Felix whimpers, attempting to pull Jake off, “I’m gonna cum…”
Jake looks up at him through half-lidded eyes, dark with lust, before he starts bobbing his head. Felix yelps, his thighs squeezing the alpha’s head, and tries to hold back.
"Let go, hyung," Felix whines at the alpha's raspy voice then shakes as he reaches his high.
Watching Jake wipe the little excess from the corner of his mouth then licking it has Felix losing his mind. He had forgotten just how sexy he is.
His omega is so attracted to his alpha.
No matter how much time passes, the younger is the only one he desires. There’s no other alpha for him.
In an endless universe, it's just Jake for Felix.
Moonlight filters in, bathing the entire room in a soft glow. Feels almost magical to be together, beneath the full moon. As much as they know their imposed dynamics, expectations, and traditions—as alpha and omega—love is nature too.
Destiny guided them to each other.
Jake still remembers the unbridled anticipation the second Felix crossed the border. It was an immediate reaction to his true mate.
The same impulse that made Felix run away from his responsibility as promised omega, leading him straight into Jake’s territory, looking for his alpha.
They’re soulmates, and their wolves knew it before they even met.
Now, they're finally where they're supposed to.
Felix’s index follows along the lines on Jake’s body once he crawls on top of him again. Some scars are deeper than others, but all of them healed. Although the scratches around his shoulders disappeared almost completely, the mark across his ribs remains. The message behind them remains too.
The omega leans in, pressing his lips to each of them, and Jake trembles under his touch.
A little smile curves Felix’s mouth because he lives for his alpha’s reactions and sounds. Jake’s always so sensitive. They kiss again, moaning when the blonde grinds his hips down, their cocks rubbing. The friction isn’t enough. The tension mixes with their arousal, permeating the space between them, and their scents turn so thick they could almost taste them.
It’s almost too sweet and sticky, like a glazed dessert. For an alpha, Jake’s unique scent is a spicy vanilla fragrance that turns smokey when he’s turned on.
On the other hand, Felix’s scent fits his endearing personality perfectly. A delicious blend of cocoa powder with a touch of honey, which becomes almost syrupy as he grows aroused, so much that makes Jake almost salivate like an actual dog just by being close.
Jake noses up the side of Felix’s face, staring into his blown pupils, then gently bites on his lower lip, pulling on it. The omega tips his head up, capturing his mouth with his own, kissing him.
As if they could make up for the time lost in a night, they continue to share kiss after kiss. Their cycles aren’t synced yet, but the full moon does have an effect on them. That’s why, traditionally, mating ceremonies are held on those dates.
Like the ocean tides are affected by the gravity pull, their wolves are on edge as well.
“Felix,” Jake switches to english, as he often does whenever he’s with Felix, “can I fuck you?”
Felix whimpers, eagerly nodding, “Of course you can.”
Jake’s adorable wolfy grin shows again before he excitedly bites his bottom lip. Felix attempts to roll over, but the alpha pushes him back, forcing them to lock gazes.
“I want to see your face,” his voice drops a bit, which makes the omega shiver, “when I make you cry.”
Felix yelps, taken aback, as Jake easily picks him up. He barely has time to process what’s going on before his back hits the wall, and the alpha slips two fingers inside his wet hole. The omega whines, feeling his slick dripping around the digits inside him, then rolls his hips down. The more Jake teases the swollen gland, the more little cut-off sounds bubble out of him.
Since when is Jake so strong that he can hold Felix, as the brunette wiggles, and can continue fucking him with his fingers, all while standing up?
His toes curl, on the brink of orgasm again, just as he’s left empty.
Jake nibbles on his earlobe, “You ready?”
“Jaeyun, I swear , if you don’t fuck me within the next second I’ll—ah!” Felix throws his head back, nearly knocking it against the brick hadn’t it been for Jake predicting his movement and taking a step back. The alpha’s cock slides right in, stretching Felix so nicely his brain almost shuts off. “Holy fuck, Jaeyun, did you grow bigger?”
Jake’s sharp canines stick out a bit, too puppy-like in such a situation, as Felix's thighs quiver. The alpha chooses to have mercy on him, so he settles him down on the mattress. Sprawled in front of him is the most beautiful person Jake has ever laid his eyes on, so who can blame him for ogling?
While still on his feet, Jake places his legs on his shoulders, practically bending him in half until Felix almost feels his dick in his throat.
Not only their heads, their bodies also remember each other.
"You have no idea how much I've wanted you," his hot breath fans over Felix's cheek, "Felix hyung, I missed you so much," he finally gives a shallow thrust, "each of my ruts was a living hell, nothing felt as good as you do. I only wanted to mate you."
Felix's omega howls in delight at that, "You still wanna mate me? Really?" that primal pride still makes him lightheaded, "You want me to carry your pups?"
"God, Felix," Jake picks up his pace, gripping his omega's hipbones to push him down on his cock, "I wanna mate you, breed you, knock you up, then do it again, and again, and— fuck!"
Jake's still as vocal, and Felix still loves it. He loves his alpha's moans in his ear, his praises and curses, his hands on him. Nothing is as good as an alpha who's loud when he fucks him so well, so hard, so deep.
Nearly ripping the sheets between his hands, Felix arches back, gasping. Jake takes the opportunity to sneak his tongue inside his cavern, and Felix grabs a handful of his blonde locks. It's messy, all needy and desperate, as their bodies move together. The bed creaking and the skin-on-skin slapping are almost obscene, but none of them really cares.
Felix could die happily right then, right there.
"Jaeyun!" amidst their sex noises, Felix shouts. Jake's hand plays with his neglected erection, adding to the omega's pleasure, "Jaeyun! Jake! Alpha, please!"
"Please, what?"
"Knot me!" Felix growls, almost threatening.
"As you wish," whatever his omega wants, he gets.
Jake changes angles, just so, so his shaft drags over Felix's prostate. He never stops jerking him off, and it only takes two more thrusts for him to make the most gorgeous and sinful expression ever. His heart-shaped lips form a perfect O as his eyebrows furrow in a silent scream, with his eyes tightly shut, and his pretty cock twitches, cum coming out in shy ropes. He has a few spasms as he comes down, nails digging into Jake's forearms.
Crescent moons and red lines decorate Jake's body along with his scars.
Felix swears he blacks out a tiny bit as he feels the alpha's knot stretching him out. Jake rocks him forward, in sharp movements, until he curses under his breath, shoving his length all the way in with a final stroke.
His member leaks, hot cum filling Felix up. His eyes roll back, intense tremors shaking his entire core. He clenches around Jake's cock, practically sucking him in even more. He's such a horny bitch for that dick, it'd be embarrassing if Jake wasn't just as thirsty for him.
"Oh," he manages to exhale, "oh… fuck, wait, just a second," he doesn't even know what he's saying, his brain’s still fuzzy.
"You okay?" Jake nuzzles him, peppering kisses on each freckle.
Felix hums, blinking his haze away, "Yeah," he runs his fingers over Jake's lips, and his alpha licks around them. "Bite me, Jake."
"You sure? I mean, we can still wait…" this is the most puppy the alpha has behaved in front of him, his big eyes staring down at him, filled with stars in the dark.
Felix is sure he’d be wagging his tail if he was in his wolf form.
"Did I fucking stutter, alpha?" Jake's gaze widens at the familiar words, and Felix smiles. Despite his omega's order, the alpha hesitates. They stare at each other, trying to read the other's minds, so the older says it first, "I love you, Jaeyun-ah."
True, it might not be the ideal moment to confess such a thing, with Jake’s knot in him, but it's never been about the right time with them. Losing each other is not an option. Not again. Regardless, there’s something very intimate being intertwined, no rush, no pressure.
The younger looks for one of his hands, interlocking their fingers, "I love you too, Yongbok hyung,” Felix laughs, melodious and low, genuinely happy to hear it.
Against every alpha expectation, Jake exposes his neck and shoulder for him first—submitting body, mind, and heart, to the omega. Felix’s more than willing to rip his heart out and hand it over to the alpha. Gently, the omega kisses right over his clavicule and bites right on the bone, which is pretty painful, yet Jake doesn’t complain.
After Jake pulls back, Felix bares his neck, and the alpha takes his time choosing the spot. His eyelashes tickle the omega, then his lips graze the omega’s collarbones, up to his shoulder. The tip of his fangs prickle the tender skin then sink in. Felix moans, in pain and pleasure, but his hand keeps on caressing Jake’s nape, reassuring him.
As careful as Jake tries to be, going as far as to lapping up the wound, some blood dribbles down the corner of his mouth. Felix thumbs it away, sticking it back between Jake’s pretty lips, and he cleans it.
Locking stares, they get lost in each other.
The creation of a mating bond is such an intimate moment; their souls bounding their wolves up.
Alpha and omega howl in harmony.
Ever since that fateful day, the two have dreamed of this.
A few hours before dawn, Felix finds himself between Jake's arms in lukewarm water, just letting the tension leave his aching muscles. The alpha kisses his shoulder, sitting behind him, as he gleefully pours water down his hair, rinsing it.
It's cute how their hair color switched, matching the other's fur color.
"Is the bite still hurting, hyung?" he asks, and Felix doesn't need to look at him to know he's pouting.
"No, it's okay, and yours?"
"A bit, but I don't mind," the alpha reassures him.
"My turn to wash your back then!"
Jake laughs, and they exchange places. Felix takes his time scrubbing the younger's back, unintentionally eying the scars that litter his skin. They don't seem to bother Jake at all, but if the omega thinks too much of that day, it triggers his anxiety.
The memory of Chan nearly snapping Jake's neck haunts him in nightmares to this day.
"What are you thinking about, hyung?"
Jake's an empath by nature; then again, they're bonded now. Their emotions and thoughts are in the process of setting in each other's mind and body, so he's practically feeling what Felix's thinking.
"That I don't want to lose you," Felix mumbles against his shoulder.
"You won't," Jake grabs his hand, squeezing it, "I promise."
"I'm just afraid someone might hurt you because of me again…"
"Are there other alphas I need to worry about, Yongbokkie?" tilting his head back a bit, his eyes hold a sly glint as he looks at him.
"No!" his cheeks flush, but the omega cuddles closer. “It’s just you… it’s always been you, Jaeyunnie.”
“I love you,” Jake caresses the back of the older’s hands, turning to face his mate again. "Don't worry about it, alright?"
“I love you too,” Felix whispers, “but we still need to talk with… my guests and our packs.”
“I’m sure I can beat Chan-ssi now.”
A stern index in front of him stops him from saying anything else, “Don’t you dare.”
“Fine.”
Felix gives him one last warning glare before he stretches over the ledge to grab a towel. Once the fabric is secured around his waist, he passes one to the alpha, who thanked him. Using an extra one, the omega starts drying Jake’s hair, which makes him smile, as they make their way back to the bedroom.
Kisses land on Felix’s jaw after he slips one of Jake’s shirts on. It’s not that big, but it’s long, so it reaches under the middle of his thighs, so he only wears some underwear underneath. Jake unashamedly checks him out, biting his lips, and Felix scrunches up his nose.
“Pervert,” he jokes, hitting his face with the towel. “Are you hungry?”
“Would you cook ramen for me?!” Jake snakes his arms around his waist, pulling him close.
Felix rolls his eyes then nods, pecking the tip of Jake’s nose.
A firm knock on the door wakes them up. Jake practically jolts awake, his hold around Felix tightening, as soon as another alpha’s scent reaches his nose, especially because it’s not Jungwon’s.
Felix’s shocked eyes stare up at him, almost scared, because he immediately recognizes it.
“It’s Channie hyung.”
“Stay here.”
Felix attempts to hold him back but can only watch him throw a t-shirt on, “Jaeyunnie…”
Taking a deep breath, Jake mentally prepares himself for the worst. Nearly swinging the door open, he blinks. Purple and white greet him, and it takes him a second to process that Chan’s holding out a bouquet of cyclamen.
Jake tilts his head to the side, unsure on what to do or how to react to it. Chan only waves it in front of him.
“Congratulations.”
“Huh?”
“You two mated, didn’t you?” the older alpha turns to Felix, his gaze instantly softening, nothing but affection for the omega in it. “Are you happy, Lixie?”
Tears blur Felix’s stare at the question, so he launches himself into Chan’s arms. The alpha hugs him tightly, accidentally smacking Jake’s face with the bouquet, before he kisses the top of his head, “Thank you, Christopher.”
Jake purses his lips but quietly takes the flowers to the dining table, giving them some space. Regardless of their dispute, both alphas respect their respective love for Felix.
Looking out, he catches sight of his pack a few feet behind them, who were probably worried by Chan’s presence in their territory. Riki and Sunghoon call out to him, yet Jungwon is ahead of the rest. Jake rushes to meet him halfway, and the leader checks if he’s hurt in any way.
“Hyung, is everything okay?”
“Yeah, everything’s fine, Jungwonnie,” the younger hugs him anyway, and he can’t help but hold him back. “Hey… what happened after Felix came to me?”
“Well, Chan-ssi apologized to the guests,” Jungwon looks over at the rest of the pack, “but I don’t think it was a surprise for anyone, it was like they were expecting Felix hyung to run away much sooner.”
“Is that so?” Jake raises an eyebrow at the oldest Australian.
A few feet from them, Jake's pack stops, still wary of the outsider alpha.
“We knew Felix was attached to you, but we were hoping he’d grow out of it for the sake of our pack,” Felix looks down, guilt written all over his face, “but I was wrong for trying to break the type of bond you have,” the brunette snaps his head back up. Chan pets his hair, guiding them over to the younger alpha to give Felix’s hand to Jake, “please, take care of him.”
“He’s free to choose whether he wants to stay here with me or go back with you,” Jake brushes Felix’s bangs back, “just like Taehyun comes and goes with his pack. You’re also his family.”
“What kind of alpha…?”
Felix softly growls at Chan, a halfhearted warning, “Maybe you could learn from him, hyung. Now that we’re all a big family.”
"Felix hyung!" without a single care, Sunoo pushes his way toward Felix, who overjoyed hugs him back. "I missed you so much!"
"I missed you too, Sunoo-yah," the two omegas huff out, surprised by Niki's embrace around them. "You too, Riki!"
"Welcome back, hyung," Jongseong and Sunghoon wave at him.
"It's nice to have you back, Yongbok hyung," Heeseung warmly smiles at him, arms crossed in front of his chest.
"Thank you," Felix means it, from the bottom of his heart. "Channie hyung, is it okay if we have Jungwon's pack over for dinner tonight?"
"Well, we're all family now, aren't we?"
Both alpha leaders look at each other, then Jungwon smiles at Chan.
“How do I look?”
Jake’s mind Windows stops working.
In front of him, Felix looks ethereal in such simple clothes that’s very much unfair for Jake’s heart. His long brunette hair has side waterfall braids that connect to a half-up ponytail, around which pretty tiny yellow peonies are weaved into. A loose black shirt almost falls off his shoulders and washed-out jeans hug his hips just right, just so that Jake doesn’t realize he’s staring until Felix tips his head up.
“My eyes are here, Jaeyun-ah,” he chides with a smile.
“Do we really have to go?” a playful slap has him dramatically whining. “Sorry, sorry! You look gorgeous though!”
“Sunoo-ah did my hair,” Felix proudly announces, showing it off, “and he had Sunghoon help him put the flowers, when will they confess to each other? It’s painful to see that.”
“And you just came back, you should’ve seen them all winter,” the alpha sighs, “but we can’t rush them, their wolves will get to them eventually.”
“I hope they do soon though.”
“Me too,” Jake stretches his hand out for Felix to take, “let’s get going, or we’ll be late to dinner.”
Felix looks at his hand then at him with a mischievous grin, “Loser helps Minho hyung with the dishes!”
Jake stands there, his brain taking a second to process the words, before he laughs. Instead of sprinting after him, the alpha watches his beautiful omega, as a stunning white wolf, run across the meadow, heading straight for the forest. Felix disappears among the trees, and this time Jake only needs to focus on their bond to know his exact position, even if the distance between them grows.
This time, Jake doesn’t have to stop himself from following Felix.
This time, Felix stops, waiting for him.
