Yamato sat on his bed, watching Navi grumble to herself, although she didn’t sound overly annoyed, or surprised. He wasn’t entirely sure how the Gokaigers worked , so maybe flying out to them was out of the question. Did robotic birds need gas?
“Hey bird, hey ZyuohEagle.”
“Marvelous!” Navi squawked. “Not a bird!”
“Yeah, yeah, ship’s right outside, so you can head back now,” Marvelous said, sounding casual as he leaned against the window.
Navi made more indignant noises as she flew out the window. Yamato expected Marvelous to leave with her, but instead, he was studying Yamato, arms crossed.
“Not easy is it, being a leader?” Marvelous asked.
Yamato shrugged. It was what it was, and it wasn’t like he was a leader in the same way Marvelous was. That was a crew that chose to live on a flying galleon, not people from another dimension that got stuck on Earth.
“You’re thinking too much.”
Yamato startled, as he hadn’t realized that Marvelous had gotten so close. He felt Marvelous tip his chin up, and found that he was silently asking permission. When Yamato nodded, the pirate’s lips were on his, gentler than Yamato would have expected.
Marvelous got them so that they were laying down, his weight a solid presence on top of Yamato, who was clutching Marvelous’ jacket. It had been a while since he had been kissed, let alone so thoroughly . It wasn’t like he hadn’t thought about the others on his team, but with everything going on, it was taking a back seat.
When Marvelous pulled away, Yamato nearly whined. Marvelous grinned down at him, a far cry from his scornful attitude earlier.
“Who’d’ve thought, the guy who thinks all connections are important would be good at kissing.”
Yamato’s answer to that was to pull Marvelous into another kiss.

Yamato didn’t get much warning before Sela hip checked him away from the dishes he was washing.
“Umm, Sela? It’s my turn to do the dishes?”
“You can dry then,” was Sela’s curt answer.
Yamato tilted his head but did as told, wondering what had happened.
“Stupid Leo, stupid Tusk, stupid Leo,” Sela muttered as she angrily washed.
“What happened?” Yamato asked cautiously.
“Nothing, they’re just arguing and driving me insane,” Sela answered.
Yamato nodded. Amu must not have been around to calm the shark down, probably out shopping.
It didn’t take long for them to finish the dishes, Yamato barely keeping up. When they were done, he wasn’t sure what to do to calm Sela down, as she was still fuming. The argument Leo and Tusk had had must have been quite big, making Yamato resolve to talk to them.
“Sela, is there anything fun you want to do?” he asked, thinking Sela would want to get out of the house.
He therefore wasn’t expecting Sela to pull him close and kiss him, a whole lot of frustration poured into it.
When she let him go, she looked a little wild.
“Sela?”
“I shouldn’t have done that,” was the curt answer.
“I didn’t mind it, though!” Yamato stumbled over his words, trying to reassure Sela. He hadn’t expected Sela to kiss him first, but any of the Zyumans kissing him was fine with him.
Sela gave him a look that was hard to read.
“Sela, I swear, it’s okay, if you want to do it again, we can. But if you don’t, we can pretend it never happened and I will continue to treat you like I always do.”
Sela looked cautious.
“Do you want to try it again? See if we want to continue this?”
A nod from Sela meant that Yamato cupped her face and kissed her again, sweet and slow.

It was just another DeathGalien they had blown up, not one with any particularly interesting powers, but for whatever reason, Leo had been extremely hyped up with adrenaline after, which was why Yamato found himself on the ground at the moment.
It was a nice day, he registered, before Leo was on top of him and kissing him aggressively. There were some vaguely annoyed sounds from Sela and Tusk, Amu squealing, and Misao he couldn’t hear.
When Leo stopped kissing him, though, the rest of the Zyumans were gone, probably to give the two of them privacy.
“Oh, hey, they’re gone,” Leo said, bouncing up, shrugging and putting out a hand so Yamato could get up. “Sorry for knocking you down.”
“No, it’s fine,” Yamato said with a smile. Leo had been the one he had expected to kiss him first, and it had finally happened.
“Let’s go find them, then,” Leo said, hauling Yamato up.
“Mmm…not yet,” Yamato said, pushing Leo back down.
“Woah, why not?” Leo asked.
“I’m pretty sure you just made me part of your pack, and I want to take advantage of that,” Yamato said, leaning down and kissing Leo.
Yamato could feel the lion’s smile, bright and beautiful, against his lips. He couldn’t say he was surprised when Leo pulled them both on the ground again, the kiss turning into a bit of a wrestling contest before Yamato let Leo take the upper hand.
When they got back to the rest of the group, Sela and Tusk were scowling as Amu hummed happily.
“You couldn’t wait one more month?” Tusk grumbled. “I’m poorer by 1000 yen because of this!”
“I thought they would have kissed two months ago,” Sela sighed.
“I told you two! You just didn’t believe me!” Amu sang.
“I can’t believe you guys were betting on Leo and Yamato kissing,” Misao said sadly.
Yamato just shook his head, bemused by his friends, while Leo chased Amu, demanding a portion of the betting money.

Not for the last time, Yamato caught himself staring at Tusk, who had been recently prescribed glasses. And what a cute pair they were, too.
“Are you going to stop staring any time soon?” Tusk asked, looking over the manga he was reading. Yamato could only presume it was from the library, considering it was a shoujo manga he didn’t recognize. “Not hanging the laundry up as quickly as possible will cause more wrinkles.”
“Whoops, sorry Tusk.”
Tusk nodded, accepting the apology, although Yamato noticed he had a pleased little smile on his face.
It wasn’t much later when Yamato finished hanging up the laundry. Despite the Zyumans not technically living at the Atelier anymore, they still came whenever they pleased, much to Uncle Mario’s delight.
“If you want to stick around for lunch, you’re more than welcome to, Tusk,” Yamato said, heading to the kitchen. He happened to have Tusk’s favorite foods on hand, so he figured he could just make that.
He didn’t make it very far when he was pushed against the wall, Tusk in a classic kabedon position. Yamato desperately wanted to laugh, knowing exactly where Tusk was getting this kind of idea, but if he laughed, he wouldn’t be kissed by Tusk, and that would be a shame, considering how darn cute the elephant looked.
Tusk kissed him, solidly, setting a pace that Yamato was only too happy to follow. He pulled Tusk closer, nearly making Tusk lose his balance, but Yamato wasn’t going to let Tusk fall, not when he had waited this long.
When Tusk ended the kiss, his glasses were askew, so Yamato fixed them for him, tempted to steal them to see how strong they were, but not doing that so that Tusk would kiss him again. Which he very much did.

There were a lot of things Yamato was used to after living with the Zyumans for a year that most humans wouldn’t have had to deal with.
Amu sitting in his lap for no reason that Yamato could figure out was a new one, though. Sure, Yamato was on the swing, but usually when he sat there, Amu sat on the other end, doing her own thing. She was not all up in Yamato’s space, trying to stop Yamato from doing notes using his zoology books and what he had seen recently.
“Amu?”
“Yes, Yamato-kun?” Amu replied sweetly.
“Not that I have a problem with it or anything, but is there a reason you’re in my lap?”
“It’s comfortable,” Amu answered, looking mischievous and like she had an idea that she was not going to share with Yamato.
Yamato nodded slowly. Tigers were cats, after all, and Yamato knew (not from personal experience, just from what Daichi said about his own three cats and what the zoology books confirmed) that cats did whatever they damned pleased.
Such as kissing Yamato right when he was about to double check something in one of his zoology books. The book fell to the floor, where Yamato only barely registered the sound of the drop, and the swing swung back and forth, the motion to kiss Yamato having had that much momentum, creaking slightly under both of them.
When they broke the kiss, Yamato couldn’t help but chuckle at how pleased the tiger looked. Amu had been slightly aggressive in the kiss, biting his lips, and he could only guess how swollen they were at this point.
“Was that why you were in my lap today, Amu?”
Amu didn’t answer, instead throwing her arms around his shoulders, clearly signaling that she wanted another kiss, something Yamato was only too happy to provide.

It didn’t matter to Yamato’s heart that he had two boyfriends and two girlfriends already, when Misao said he had a girlfriend , he didn’t want to believe it. He had fully believed that Misao would come around and be comfortable with all of them. Or at the very least, just himself and Tusk. But no, he had a random Zyuman girlfriend he had barely met.
Except barely even a month later, Misao was coming up to the Atelier in a crying mess, saying how he and Lilian had broken up.
Yamato stayed with Misao all night, rubbing his back and soothing him until he fell asleep, clutching at Yamato in his sleep.
Yamato didn’t want to say how glad that made him.
When Misao got up, Yamato just smiled gently at him, pushing breakfast towards the taller man.
“We didn’t even last a month, what do you think that says about me, Yamato?” Misao asked miserably.
“I think…that it just didn’t work out and doesn’t really reflect on you as a person,” Yamato replied.
“I guess…”
Yamato couldn’t take it.
“Micchan, if you want me to stop, tell me and I will , I promise.”
“What?”
Yamato leaned over and kissed Misao, who let out a startled noise.
Yamato drew back, but Misao shot out a hand and pulled Yamato back.
They stayed like that for a while, Misao sniffling a bit, which meant Yamato could feel his tears on his own cheeks, not that he minded. He was finally kissing Misao, something he really should have done earlier.
When Yamato broke the kiss, Misao looked stunned. Not for the first time, Yamato admired his new hairstyle before leaning his forehead against Misao’s.
“You’re so cute, Micchan. Cute and good , and I know you might not believe me, but I will make sure to stay here until you do.”
“Yamato!” Misao started crying for real, but Yamato knew that Misao would be okay.
He’d make sure of it.
