Work Text:
The crowd were particularly wild tonight, having had multiple teens try and climb their way on stage, some getting trampled in pits, and some getting violent.
I had noticed earlier on, trying to keep my eye on them in case they tried to pull any shit. It’s nothing we weren’t used to as a band, in the past having things launched at us or the crowd booing, but nothing like this had ever happened.
The worry was filling me, my senses already overwhelmed by the stench of booze and sweat, the feeling of adrenaline coursing through our veins.
The concert had mainly been a success, the set had gone well and we were two songs from finishing. I was full of adrenaline and happiness being on stage with my band brothers, we all putting our all into every last note.
Time was whizzing by, it felt like it had been only half an hour up there, realistically being around an hour and half, it was easy to lose track of time while having an audience screaming back your life’s work at you in perfect synchronisation.
We were on the verge of finishing early sunsets, when the unexpected happened. An empty bottle of beer came cascading towards us, I felt a blinding pain to my forehead.
I groaned, shoving my hands to my head, doing my best to carry on singing. Frank, Mikey and ray had crowded around me, briefly stopping at the initial impact, but carry on once they realised I was stinging.
The throbbing pain made it’s way through my head, once the song was over I stumbled backstage, Frank clinging to my arm.
Blinding pain shot through me with every movement of my head, the feeling of nausea and anger filling me up.
Blood. I looked down at my hands, blood had stained over them. I felt dizzy, still groaning at the pain every now and then. I could hear a loud ringing, everything was spinning as if I had been on a carousel 40 times over.
The crimson shade seemed to make everything else appear in black and white, consuming my vision.
“Gee” frank said demandingly, my ears focusing in. Mikey had grabbed a spare item of clothing and was trying to compress the cut.
I squeezed my hands and groaned as he pressed down, my vision fuzzing. “Fuck it hurts” I groaned, trying to look at frank. “I know it hurts, that fucking jackass is gonna get a decking once I find out who he is, are you ok?” He asked slightly panicked, but trying to keep his cool.
“Do you feel dizzy? Can you see ok?” The questions were a blur, I could hardly take it all in. “Dizzy” I said through a groan as Mikey removed the rag.
“There’s no glass lodged in there gee it’s ok, ray went to get you some painkillers and an ice pack, just hold on” he softly said, everything was ringing.
“How deep is it I need to have a proper look mikes” frank said, distorted. I felt Mikey take the rag off, a sharp pain striking me again.
“It’s quite deep gee, I think you need stitches” he said worried, loooking to Mikey. I heard running, a pounding behind me. “Gee are you ok?” Rays voice echoed, frank took a bottle of water, a box of pills and a bag of ice off of him.
“Hold this on Your Head, it should help” he said softly, ray sat next to me and kept his hand on my shoulder. He took the ice pack away from me, gently placing it on the top of my head.
“I don’t want stitches just plaster it up I’ll be fine- needles” I said through slight groans as Mikey dabbed the blood away.
The thought of needles made me slightly shake, I couldn’t bear them. Frank looked at me with worried eyes, knowing I was so scared of them.
Frank cupped my cheeks. “You need stitches, it’s deep. Have some of these it should help with the pain.” Frank said sternly, I could just see a haze of worry in everybody’s faces around me.
A few minutes later a lady ran over with gauzes and all kinds of plasters, and a small bottle of glue.
The painkillers were slowly kicking in, it hurting slightly less now. “I’m a paramedic, can you guys clear a bit of room” she said sweetly, everyone budging out the way a bit.
Frank was still glued on me, grabbing an elastic band as he gathered my hair in a small ponytail to keep it from getting in the way.
“It’s very deep but this glue should hold it, it’s gonna sting a lot I do warn you” she warned, Mikey and ray both still stroking my shoulders. I felt so disorientated, the pain throbbing in my head.
“This is gonna hurt a lot, but it’s over quickly I promise” she said softly, opening the glue. I felt a wave of fear coarse through me, mixing with the adrenaline and anger.
“Grab my hand and squeeze, it’ll help” frank said, I took his hand and squeezed my eyes shut as she began to glue the cut closed. It stung like a bitch, I tried not to flinch away.
I squeezed down on franks hand, holding back loud groans. Once it was finished, she pressed it together. I felt a tear spill from my eyes, ray wiping it from my cheek. “Youre doing so well, just need to put a plaster on it now gee” frank tried to soothe, the painkillers slowly helping more and more.
The nurse cut some surgical tape and a gauze, placing it over the glued up cut. There was now just a dull ache and everyone had slightly moved away. “I’m gonna check for any signs of a concussion, can you look into the light for me?” She softly asked, pulling out a flashlight and shining it into my eyes.
“You definitely have one, keep hydrated and try and lay down in the dark. It’s probably best that you take it easy for the next few days” she said sternly.
“Thank you so much” frank said, I nodded. “Only my job” she said smiling, walking away.
After a while, the pain faded to a dull ache. I had been slowly sipping on water and ray and Mikey had gone to have a word with the tour manager and security.
I felt safer next to frank, I had now stopped crying from the pain. He was stroking my forehead, it was so soothing.
“I cannot believe that fucker did that” frank said angrily, clenching his fist. “It’s ok I’m just glad it didn’t hit any of you lot or the audience” I said softly, looking into his angered eyes.
“I’d deck him if I knew who he was” he murmured at me.
“Sure you would, shortie” I smirked.
"shut up, you know id always try and keep you out of harms way"
