“It's the clothes- it's gotta be, right?”

“Get your eyes checked, Calli- just look at her! She's like a marble statue!”

Amelia Watson grimaced a little as Gura spoke far louder than their conversation warranted. A life revolving around investigation led her to be a lot more skilled with subtlety than she often displayed- which, in her mind, was a good thing. Being underestimated had saved her life more times than she could count.

“Could you shout any louder, Gura?” Kiara quipped, and Ame felt a rush of gratitude towards the phoenix. Gura pouted, but dropped her voice back to a whisper.

“I mean all she has to do is turn around and see us all staring…”

The subject of their conversation- one Ninomae Ina’nis- stood outside on the back lawn of the Watson estate, the morning sun glinting off her skin as she, for once, decided to keep up with her promised exercise routine with some morning yoga.

It had started with Ame herself, having walked past the scene in a pre-coffee daze, and only when the life-giving dark elixir graced her lips did she finally wake up enough to appreciate the scene. She would have done so quietly, too, if it weren't for Gura hopping onto her back like some kind of aquatic koala, letting out a low whistle and asking Ame if Ina had been keeping up with her squats.

One thing led to another, and eventually all of myth were staring out the glass patio door at their eldritch girlfriend- who was none the wiser to the appreciation they were giving her.

“Seriously, I work out every day!” Kiara complained, throwing her hands forward incredulously, “Training with Calli, keeping the sword arm sharp- I'm lean!”

She flexed a bicep- and while she wouldn’t be winning any arm-wrestling competitions anytime soon, the definition definitely spoke to someone with combat experience.

“I've got hips!”

Both hands clapped against her sides, and with all the drama she could muster, she managed to drag out a single, solitary, sparkling tear.

“How in the world does she just… have that, when I work so hard!?”

Calli sighed, and gave her a conciliatory pat on the head while ruffling the girl’s feathers good-naturedly.

“Your thighs are juicy babe, and you do work hard for them.”

“Exactly!” Kiara leaned her head on Calli’s shoulder, still pouting as Ame and Gura both snickered at her plight. Gura turned back with a sigh.

“But seriously, who gave her permission to have all that cake-”

The shark stopped, eyes widening a bit as a small, surprised ”Ah.” left her throat. Ame raised an eyebrow-

“Ah crap.”

Ina blinked, wide-eyed at the audience inside. Ame felt her face warm up, and she grimaced.

“Busted- everyone scatter!”

There was a shriek as Ame picked Gura up and ran, Calli staring at the both of them, dumbfounded.

“Wha- dudes! Seriously?”

Her words fell on uncaring ears, as Kiara let out a crowing laugh and followed the chaotic duo.

“God damn it- C’mon Kiara, don't encourage them- Kiara!”

In a moment, Calli was left the only one standing there, as Ina slid the door open, face both etched with confusion and red with a blush. The grim reaper stiffened a little at the priestess’s entrance, clearing her throat and trying her best to appear casual.

Based on the girl’s singular raised eyebrow, she wasn’t doing that great a job.

“Ah…” Ina glanced up at Calli, and then in the various directions she saw the rest of her partners scatter off to, “Do I… want to know?”

Calli rolled her eyes, but the red on her face spoke leagues more to her true emotional state, “Ah, well… some girls are just too cowardly to admit when their GF has a nice-”

Don’t say ass, don’t say ass-

“...back.”

Ina snorted back a laugh, well and truly unconvinced by Calli’s attempted censoring.

“My back, huh?”

“Yep.” Calli popped the “P” as she spoke, looking anywhere but at her girlfriend. Ina hummed, nodding at Calli’s words.

“Well then, maybe I need to start getting up earlier-”

“Noooo!” the distant whine of three separate voices mingled from deep within the house, earning a snicker from the both of them as the tension fully broke. Calli glanced over at Ina.

“Seriously, though- you've been holding out on us.”

Ina shrugged, “Some things lesser folk were not meant to know,” She continued on her way inside, heading towards the shower, before she threw a glance over her shoulder, “Lest they go mad from the revelation~”

Calli snorted, “Well, we appreciate you nerfing yourself for our own mental health.”

Yes, yes, we know about fanart for Ina's back- but what about fanfic for Ina's back?
