As the sun set over the horizon and the moon slowly rose, a figure emerged from the water below. Her hair shone a bright blue in the pale moonlight as her beautifully woven dress trailed behind her. One hand grasped her sword, while the other was brought up to her chest to touch the star-shaped necklace around her neck. Her most prized possession belonging to the stars above. How long had it been since she had seen her?
The goddess of the sea, Sea Fairy, had always been a selenophile, enjoying every second she spent in the middle of the night gazing at the bright moon above. She had been alive for many years in solitude, guarding the waves and the ocean. However, the waves always seem to be lulled by the pull of the moon. A long time ago, she had managed to use her powers and meet her in the night sky.
Moonlight. Such a beautiful name, for a beautiful deity. Her hair was dark blue and shined like the stars in the galaxy. They had gotten to know each other and finally, the sea was not lonely anymore.
However, she was unaware of what she had done to the sea. She had used her waves to carry her to the moon, and those very waves were flooding the cookies near the shores of the seas. Watching the chaos that was happening, the guardian of nature, the queen of the ice, had no choice as she knew Sea Fairy would not listen. Thus, she sent an ice bolt that hit the sea deity off of the moon and pierced her heart, sending her falling back to the waves below. She also let go of her sword, causing her to freeze over entirely for centuries. The moon goddess could only watch with a broken heart, unable to do anything to help.
Thanks to the help of an adventurous tour guide of a village, a small shark who longed to be a pirate, and a adorable squid who had trouble remembering, her sword was retrieved and all the ice melted. Her heart was no longer frozen, however, it still longed to meet the one whose heart was the warmest…
Again.
Now that she was freed from her prison of her ice, she has resumed her midnight rendezvous with the moon. Each night she glances up at it, and imagines Moonlight looking down back at her. Before she had fallen off the moon, she remembered the moon’s promise to her:
“Sea Fairy, you will never be alone again.”
And never alone again she was. Clearing the thoughts in her head, she smiled slightly at the moon, hoping that Moonlight could see it from where she was. High in the sky, two galaxy blue eyes looked back down with a smile.
“Sea Fairy, I hope we will meet again.”
Maybe in their next life, they can be reunited…
Once and for all.
