Summary
Irulan’s attention lies first on the ghola as it walks alongside her Emperor-Husband. She has the Bene-Gesserit gaze which roves over details upon details, which picks apart layers as transparent as air. The ghola gives away nothing. It is a blank slate.
So, it is not until she looks upon Paul Muad’Dib that feeling overwhelms her. For, when her gaze turns to face the wire-worn Emperor she sees youth in his eyes. Similar, and yet different, to the gaze which he looks upon the Fremen woman with.
Irulan disengages from the presentation. She already knows what others cannot.
This conspiracy will fall apiece. Love is the most unpredictable of urges, and it is all she can see in Paul Muad’Dib.
