im gonna swing from the chandelier

Summary:

minseok's usual morning routine goes from totally normal to absolute strange and confusing

Notes:

Work Text:

Minseok wakes up to a normal day. His alarm goes off at seven am, waking him up on time for his nine am class. His roommate wasn't in the bathroom, meaning he was ready by half seven. His homework was exactly where it needed to be, not stashed somewhere after a late night where he couldn't find it in the morning.

It was all going well.

Maybe a bit too well.

Minseok exits the bathroom, a toothbrush in his mouth as he heads to the kitchen. It had been abnormally quiet all morning; his partner and roommate would usually be groaning and complaining about being awake before nine (and had yet, to Minseok's amusement, signed up for eight am classes).

In fact, Jongin needed to be leaving soon to be on time to his first class of the day.

That mystery, however, is solved when Minseok steps into the kitchen.

He blinks and stares and blinks and stares and shakes his head. "Jongin, what are you doing?"

Jongin is standing on the kitchen table, in the same clothes he was in last night; they're messy, disheveled and they look like he's been dragged through a hedge backwards. His hair is messy, like he's been pulling on it all night. He stares at the wall, arms wrapped around the — thankfully, strong enough — mini chandelier, stock still, and not moving.

He doesn't seem to hear Minseok and he swallows a little. He tilts his head, wondering what could be wrong. Had he been under too much stress and something had gone wrong? Had he somehow been drugged?

Minseok slowly walked around the table, eyes stuck on Jongin, wondering if he should call for a doctor when something catches his eye.

He glances to the right, taking in the desk that Jongin does his college work at and bursts into laughter.

The culprit is clear — the 18 or so empty energy drink cans that were not there when Minseok went to bed.

"Jongin, did you pull an all nighter with the energy drinks?"

"I hear colours."

Minseok scoffs and manages to coax Jongin down, convincing him to go through to their shared bedroom and into bed. Minseok rings Junmyeon, his friend on a medical course, and winces as he realises he woke his friend up.

Junmyeon agrees to come over and keep an eye on Jongin, making sure he gets to sleep and he isn't in any medical danger from the amount of caffeine he's consumed.

Minseok sighs, smiling softly as he leans down, pressing a kiss to Jongin's lips and tucking him in as tight as he dares.

His boyfriend is absolutely ridiculous and never thinks twice about anything — and Minseok could not love him more.
