Work Text:
Approaching Eminence
Author’s Note: Enjoy the story and R&R.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything related to or of the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS series.
Pairing: One-sided Hunt x Luke.
Summary:
The riches were a bonus. Hunt was after more.
He wanted to be rich.
He wanted to be a fearsome Duelist.
Only then could he begin to approach Luke’s eminence. That great, lumbering dragon at the summit of the food chain. The final stage of the evolutionary bridge after dinosaur. A personality which demanded attention, glaring and blaring “I am Luke and I am here!”
A gold shine material gold merely emulated, far surpassing cheap imitation or a knockoff Hunt might sell to the plebs.
And if he had to step on some toes to get there, he’d do it. 1 yen. 1,000,000,000 yen. Walk over everyone to reach the crown.
He’d be shady. He’d be a miser. Hire friends onboard as employees and terminate them without notice.
Though, terminating a friend, he wouldn’t do without notice. He much preferred the stock market crash on Hotta Kaseki and Hakubutsu Kan’s faces after he made them suck up to him to dig up what gifts they could from him, only to announce the layoff to their faces.
He didn’t want to lose. He didn’t want to be a loser like them.
Losers don’t get the boy by losing or being losers.
Luke wouldn’t recognize him.
Luke didn’t recognize him after he waved hi to him after a time.
It wasn’t enough.
He had to be as rich as Luke!
He had to be as strong as Luke!
Richer and stronger than Luke, if Luke was to recognize his status and his strength!
A three-point plan, like the pieces of his Maximum coming together.
Maximum Summon!
To impress Luke, he had to evolve into a winner. There was no other option.
Maybe then, it’d be enough.
Luke would remember his name.
Luke would bow to him.
And Goto Hunt would roar with laughter, knowing the cost was worth the expense.
