The rain was something Takemichi had never learnt to fear, instead it would bring him comfort. Something that he believed to be true was the rain was something of a symbol of love from the Gods; not that he of all people was particularly religious.
growing up it was a reminder to get through the day or pick up a puzzle, it was always something he enjoyed. of course the coldness that would wash over his body from laying near the screen door was not something he enjoyed but watching the world outside filled him with fulfilment.
Sitting inside his room, a blanket flopped over his legs with a puzzle piece in hand Takemichi had intended to spend his birthday alone doing what he loves in the weather he loves, if the forecast was correct. however this tranquility was soon interrupted by the humming of the familiar sound of mikey.
scurrying downstairs to open the door the blonde tripped ending in a large thud at the end of the stairs. Just great was the thought that came at the time.
“Yo mitchy you all good in there” mikey cried out, knowing that his fall was heard left a large blush to invade Takemichi"s face.
“Yep yep no need to worry” he only half managed to huff out as he finally made it to the door.
Finally as the door swung open both bright sky blue eyes met the night of the other. This ritual of just staring into each other’s eyes seemed to be a common theme when they were just alone to appreciate the others" respective beauty. Neither had voiced the need or observation of the others eyes but if anyone were to get a peak of this interaction they would know the true intention. The staring contest ended as usual with Takemichi turning away to hide a blush which always started to appear in his face after the 10 second mark.
“What brings you by Mikey” Takemichi said while covering his face with his arm in an attempt to fake a cough.
“Do I need an excuse to see you?” a smirk appeared on the elders face
“Maybe I just wanted to see you Ta-Ke-Mit-Chy” he jested while leaning closer to the other.
“no but seriously i’m here to take you out”
“Take me out?!’ takemichi squeaked out as mikey turned around to guide him by hand to the boys bike
“Yeah i mean like we always do it’s saturday remember” one would be a liar to not admit to the look of let down that peaked on his face was devastating
“Oh yeah it’s saturday” a sigh of was let out “where are we going today?”
“It"s just a day trip around we might go everywhere and nowhere all at once” Mikey let out while lifting his leg over the bike.
“Come on” stretching out his hand to takemichi mikey leaned forward to give the younger room to jump on, a light hold and a hum was all that was heard from behind as the bright blonde hugged his waist.
Though Takemichi never let Mikey in on the little secret that today was his birthday he had half expected for the word to make its way around to him. He had thought to himself as he held Mikey’s waist slightly tighter than usual that perhaps that fact mikey just wanted to hang out with him with no other reason was better than him wanting to celebrate. but the sadness couldn’t be overlooked as the classic tears started to well up on mikey"s neck.
They had at this point been humming around Tokyo just in a joy ride taking in the views. Usually during these rides they would talk about the mundane things but today was oddly silent on both parties part, though neither of them had taken notice.
That special silence was forced to a stop when they had stopped at a red light when Mikey got comfortable.
“Why are you crying?” blunt as usual and yet it was like he usually was, cold.
“i"m just… i"m just glad to be with you” this wasn’t a lie of course it was the truth, takemichi was glad to be with him he loved him very much having him close by was always a bright thought. He just wasn’t crying over it, he wasn’t very sure what he was crying over.
“hmm” was all the other said for the rest of the wait before the red light turned green once again.
Selfishly, Takemichi held the other closer and firmer than before, taking his time to let his hair flow in the wind as he raised his head. subconsciously he had without motive not opened his eyes the whole trip perhaps enamored by Mikey"s touch, the facade dropped when he smelt the salt in the air.
“Mikey where are we?”
“i told you everywhere and nowhere”
“don’t be silly why are we at the beach”
“i wanted to today is all”
The clouds above their heads would have been a clear indication that today was in fact not a beach day, not that takemichi minded but he did rather think Mikey was sane when it came to weather.
“Are you sure it’s beach weather” he questioned
“What you scared of a little thunder” Mikey jokes, of course he wasn’t scared but he still buried his face in the others shoulder sighing.
“You wish I was scared” a whisper that wasn’t meant to be heard still gained a reaction but the other slightly stiffening under the other.
Once reaching the end of the highway Mikey parked closest to the beach and as soon as he cooled the engine he was surprised by the jump of Takemichi.
A soft smile and giggle landed on the blue eyed boy as he hopped off and twirled around getting back on steady feet. Though small this interaction left Mikey in awe as he just gazed over at him with those eyes.
Continuing he’s hopping Takemichi stretched his legs to dance around in a running esq style of walk.
“ MIKEY!!! HURRY LETS GO TO THE WATER!” Mikey who had never been one to refuse the other on their little dates so he strutted over.
If Mikey were to film the way Takemichi looked he would say it was reminiscent of those films at the start of a sad movie where only one person is filmed and they are the most beautiful and happy person one could ever picture. Truly Takemichi looked like a work of art as he played like a small child in the waves.
A smile so soft in it’s genuineness drifted on his face.
“Mitchy what am i to do with you” gaining a strange look from the other “you could always stay with me”.
though the comment was said in an off handed way mikey still leapt to pick him up in his arms and spin him around “then it’s a deal then i’ll just have to stay with you” laughing as the water flicked up and around them they overhead thunder begun to pour down on them.
Screeching with laughter Takemichi plops down on the sand arms on Mikey"s shoulders, with the other holding his waist. And the rain pouring down they couldn’t help but continue their ritual from earlier just holding each other"s eyes deep in thought.
“Happy Birthday my dear mitchy” Mikey finally let out
the shocked looked on the boys face was both filled with joy and sadness
“You remembered” he choked out and he unknowingly let tears sink down his face
“of course i remembered i love you very much what kind of person would i be if it forgot the person i loves birthday”
“a monster”
“exactly”
spinning around swaying back and forth the tears were now gone but the rain had replaced them.
“ i really like you Mikey “
“ i really like you too my Mitchy”
And with that he took him into his arms once more lifting him high that he was be that of a flying bird. Once again laughter was something that only remained just before their lips touched.
It was a sweet kiss, soft and gentle and not much more but the hug that followed carried all the more warmth.
“thank you for the birthday present”
