Rain started pouring from the sky, clouds covering the sun that had been gently stroking their cheeks for the last couple of hours, granting them peace for the first time in so long. The rain was hot, the raindrops big, but it was relaxing. They could hear birds happily singing high up on the trees, animals on the ground searching for cover.
Satine opened her arms, threw her head back, closed her eyes and laughed, welcoming the rain on her face. She laughed, despite everything they were going through, despite her dirty and wet clothes, despite she'd never been more hungry or scared in her whole life, she laughed. Obi-Wan watched her, surprised by her laugh for a second, and then he laughed too. Her laugh was the most beautiful thing he'd ever heard, he would never get tired of it, and he knew the memory of it was going to comfort him for the rest of his life. She pushed him gently, both still laughing, and she started running through the deep forest. He followed her like he would've loved to do forever, laughing, getting wetter by the second. But he couldn't care less.
Qui-Gon watched them go, a gentle smile on his face. They were safe for the moment. It didn't happen often these days. He let himself enjoy the moment as much as he knew they were doing. Closing his eyes he let the rain caress his skin, whilst their laughs were getting farther. He wasn't worried. Not right now.
"I beat you!" he heard Satine cheer from a point not too far away where the cave that has been their shelter for the last week was.
"You cheated your highness" Obi-Wan replied, Qui-Gon was sure with a playful grin on his face.
He hated this. He hated what they were forced to go through. He wished he could give them both the youth they deserved. He wished their love could be simpler. He remembered what it was like, being young and in love. It wasn't easy, especially for a jedi. It's not easy having to choose between love and your life. It shouldn't be like this, he was sure about that. That's why he was letting things be, letting them be young, and in love. Both Satine nor Obi-Wan deserved having to live through this. They should be having fun, not having to fight everyday for their lives. What a sick, sick galaxy this was. What an unfair life.

"I beat you!" Satine laughed as soon as she reached the shelter of the cave. Obi-Wan reached for her from behind, putting his hands gently on her hips.
"You cheated your highness" he responded while she turned around to face him, hands still on her.
They were both still smiling, now looking into the depth of the other's eyes. She rested her arms around his neck and he removed a strand of hair from her face. They were both soaked form head to toe, but the only thing occupying their minds was the person in front of them.
He leaned closer, but she gently punched him in his stomach and ran out of the cave under the heavy rain laughing. He reached her fast, spun her around so that she was in his arms, completely surrounded by him, bodies pressed together, lips mere centimetres away, still laughing. He closed his eyes enjoying this little moment.
She stroked his cheek making him open his eyes. For a brief moment he saw something in her eyes. Something wrong, something that doesn't belong on a face like hers, but that has been there so much in the past months it was not difficult for Obi-Wan to recognise. It was fear. Fear of everything. Fear of the future, fear of the present, for her life... for their lives. The moment lasted a blink of an eye but he couldn't bare seeing her like that. This was a happy moment, one he was going to remember for the rest of his life.
He stroked her back trying to comfort her through the force. He put his lips on her cheek so gently she wasn't sure they'd actually made contact. He looked her in the eyes again, comforting words forming in his mind, but he didn't speak them, knowing it wasn't necessary, she would understand. And she did.
What was important was this moment right here, right now, together.
She let her fingers comb through his hair. It wasn't even short anymore, after all the time they've been on the run. It's been almost seven months, and his hair grew fast. They didn't have time and they couldn't care enough to try find a way to cut them, so now it was almost touching his shoulders. She loved how soft it was. And she loved when he let her loose and redo his padawan braid.
He leaned a little in her touch as though their bodies could be any closer. She slowly brought their lips together. It was a gentle kiss, a comforting kiss, an intimate kiss, that was worth a thousand words.
The rain was still pouring on them, now faster, stronger, but all they could feel was the other's touch. Their bodies took control and suddenly the kiss became more desperate, more demanding, louder. They explored each other's mouth as though they didn't know every single inch of the person in front of them already, tongues dancing together in a way that was so familiar to both of them.
They broke apart in need for air and they both laughed at the other's blushed cheeks, like it was their first kiss.
She shivered, the reality of their surroundings kicking in, and he immediately took his cloak off, laying it on her shoulders and putting the hood over her wet hair. He could look at her for hours and never get tired. He loved doing that, at night, when they had a moment of peace, in front of a fire, finding some comfort in the warmth of it, her head resting on his lap while looking up at the stars, or while her eyes were closed... he just loved looking at her. He didn't know what he was going to do knowing he would not be able to do that forever.
She leaned closer to him again and rested her forehead against his, both closing their eyes again and breathing the other's breath. Everything else didn't matter. Not the war, or the jedi code, not the bounty on their heads, or the rules they were breaking, not the cold, the hunger, the fear... All that mattered here, right now, was them, and this moment.
