Ming wasn’t stupid, she could read and write in four languages and speak seven, and she could do algebra off the top of her head, so why, oh why did she feel so dumb?
Maybe she wasn’t as good at this as she thought she was, maybe it was that Lily looked at her and knew who she was or maybe…
It was that she’d become too comfortable already.
All it took was a note to remind her to be careful, a note from none other than Lily. No more than five words, it read ‘I know who you are.’ with it came a picture of her when she was younger, around eleven.
She’d taken more of a note of Lily since then, even keeping her back after class to tell her about the blessing of the family. As expected, Lily didn’t believe her, but still listened as she explained and eventually showed her.
Maybe it was ok to be comfortable.
But only if it was Lily.
