Work Text:
The only problem with having two girlfriends, Ruby has found, is that now she has two people constantly nagging her to pause what she's doing for a bit and actually take care of herself.
"Ruby." It's Blake, gently nudging her shoulder as Ruby continues to scribble furiously. She's working on the new set of schematics for her latest planned upgrades to Crescent Rose, and she wants to get the planning out of the way today. That way she can start implementing the actual upgrades tomorrow. "Ruby, please tell me that you haven't been working on this the entire day, or that you've at least taken a break or two and stopped to eat something."
"Uh-huh," Ruby replies vaguely, refusing to look up from her task. She's honestly not sure how long she's been working for, or when the last time she ate something was. It's probably been a while, but it's hard to keep track of time when she's in the zone like this. Anyway, it's not like any of that really matters, since she's almost done with the finishing touches on this set of blueprints.
She can take a break and eat to her heart's content once she's finished.
"Ruby." This time it's Penny, tugging gently on her arm as she speaks close to Ruby's ear. "Please tell me you had something with your coffee for breakfast this morning."
"Uhhh." She has to think pretty hard about it, which probably isn't a good sign. "Maybe?"
Penny sighs, and then suddenly, without warning, her girlfriend's hand slips off her shoulder and Ruby finds herself being lifted out of her chair by her arms. "Hey!" she yelps, startled, her pencil slipping out of her grasp. She squirms in Penny's grasp, but her girlfriend has always been stronger than she has, and the hands holding her don't budge. "Aw, c'mon, put me down! I just need five more minutes, I swear!"
"You can start working on it again once you've taken a break for a bit and eaten something," Penny tells her sweetly before setting her down gently in a chair at the kitchen table. As if on cue, Blake comes sweeping out of the kitchen with a steaming tray of food in her hands.
"Oh good, you managed to drag her away after all," Blake says, pressing a kiss to Penny's cheek and then reaching over to ruffle Ruby's hair.
"Mission successful," Penny agrees, giving them both a thumbs up.
"C'mon, guys, I want to get this done today," Ruby complains, making to get out of her chair. "I just need a few more minutes, really."
She's stopped by Blake's hand on her shoulder. "You'll have a much easier time finishing up after a break, with some food in your stomach. You need to take care of yourself, too."
As if on cue, Ruby's stomach growls loudly. She blushes. Okay, maybe the other two have a point. Now that she's been pulled away from her workstation and her focus has been broken, she's started to notice how hungry she is. And how tired she is. And that she needs to pee. "Okay, fine, I'll take a break, but only because you two have me outnumbered. "
Both girls beam at her, taking their seats at the table. "That's our job," Blake tells her fondly.
"We love you too, Ruby."
