Work Text:
Tsukishima felt a weight fall on his right shoulder. He looked over and saw his boyfriend fast asleep with a heavy blue blanket wrapped around him. The blue matched Kageyama’s eyes perfectly, almost as if the designer of the blanket used them as a reference.
The two were originally watching a movie together, it was a cheesy romance story that was as predictable as can be, but for some reason that didn’t matter to Kei. The only thing that mattered to him tonight was being able to hold his boyfriend with the feelings of euphoria and pure bliss rushing over both of them.
The sun had already set and it was getting close to midnight. He knew his shoulder would be sore in the morning as he already started to feel it ache. He didn’t care though, it was all worth it. To be able to call the one and only Kageyama Tobio his, was more than enough to make up for a hurt shoulder. He wished he could share the news to everyone in the world that Kageyama was his, but they kept this a secret for now.
They were second years at the moment and had only been dating for two months. It’s too early to tell the team, they’ll wait another month and then give the same excuse until it’s graduation and they have no choice.
Tsukishima smiled down at his boyfriend, hearing the two main love interests confess their love to each other in the movie in the background. It couldn’t have been a more perfect time to hear those words. He couldn’t explain the feeling of hearing the love of his life saying, “I love you too,” back to him. It was a feeling no one would ever be able to explain fully and completely. The only way for one to understand was for it to happen to them.
“Moonlight,” was a nickname that Kei had given Kageyama when they first started dating. The nickname still had not faded away and he used it every chance he got. No matter how much Tobio tried to give off the reaction he hated it, the way his face turned bright pink, and the smile he had to bite down, Kei knew he liked it.
Tsukishima used to find the idea of love cliché. But that was until he met Kageyama, the person who changed his mind almost immediately without try. Now, he couldn’t imagine his life without it, without Kageyama. There were too many instances during the past two months where he felt insecure, where he felt like Kageyama was going to leave him soon.
Tobio didn’t mind having to reassure him he wasn’t going to leave, because that reassured him that Kei wasn’t going to leave either.
Kei never knew he could hold moonlight in his hands until the night he held him.
