Chapter Text
Anderson’s POV
“I wanted to at least see you before I went back to the den.” He sighed, looking down and reaching for my hand, that familiar spark igniting as we made contact.
“Keep going at this rate and you won’t be leaving at all.” I spoke softly, my lips curling into a smirk.
“Don’t tempt me.” He had a dangerous glint in his eyes.
“You’re right.” I pulled my hand from his to which he let out a low growl that made my stomach flip. “I would hate for you to think you got out of taking me on a proper date first.” Smiling wide at him, I gestured to the door. “I’ll swing by the den sometime tomorrow if that’s okay with you and the Knights.”
“Yeah of course, like we said, you’re welcome anytime.” He smiled sincerely at me, getting up and walking towards the door.
Hamish slipped his shoes back on, opening the door to exit. With one last look at me, he took off, leaving me alone in the living room. I let out a loud sigh as I fell back on the couch, running a hand across my face in frustration. I was still confused as to why we shared that feeling whenever we touched, but I was excited to explore what this all meant. I was also excited to have made some new friends here already, it made being in this city a lot more bearable because I was no longer alone. Despite them being werewolves of course, leading a mostly normal life didn’t seem too scary anymore.
---------------------
The next few days consisted of the Knights and I hanging out at the den and my place, just getting to know each other and enjoying each other’s company. I even stocked up on their favorite foods and drinks at my house so they felt more comfortable outside of the den. They welcomed me into their little pack, and I was very grateful for each and every one of them. Randall made it a point to make me comfortable with them, doing a great job at being an ice breaker for any and all topics of conversation. Lilith was warming up to me too, she didn’t glare at me anymore, or even huff when I said anything. Hamish, well, Hamish still looked at me like he wanted to learn more about me, worship me, and devour me all at the same time. We still haven’t revisited the whole date thing, but I’m sure he wants to take things slow considering we still don’t know why touching creates those sparks. Jack was also very open and honest, and he was very kind hearted. He even opened up about his little situation-ship with Alyssa; however, I could tell I didn’t know the full story, that they were all still keeping secrets, but it wasn’t my place to pry. There’s lots they don’t know about me, but with more time there would be more trust between us all, hopefully. If my college years were going to be just like this, then I’m glad I decided to try it out instead of sticking with whatever was left of the Avengers. I could get used to this little bubble of normalcy, the mystical creature part included.
The Knights and I were hanging out in my cozy little two bedroom home when that little bubble of normalcy seemed to burst, just like my door almost did when someone felt the need to knock extra hard on the wooden door. Lilith, Jack, Randall, and Hamish were all up and on guard, ready to attack whoever was on the other side of the door. I sighed as I got up and pulled the door open.
“What?” I vocalized as I was highly confused why the person knocking aggressively on my door was none other than John Walker, the newly appointed Captain America that wore Steve’s shield on his back, who was accompanied by an a darker skinned man in a tactical uniform who I assumed was his partner Battlestar. Without a response from the new Captain, he pushed his way in, followed by his partner. “Yes, please do come in.” I spoke sarcastically, closing the door and making my way back to the living room where the Knights were still on guard. “You guys can take a seat, he’s not a threat.” I waved them off, hoping they’d relax a bit.
“Excuse me? Do you know who I am?!” Walker raised his voice, walking closer to me in what I assumed was meant to be a threatening manner.
“A sad replacement for Steve.” I sighed, eyeing him up and down.
“John.” Battlestar put a hand on Walker’s shoulder, keeping him from coming closer to me. “I’m Lemar Hoskins, and you are?” He introduced, reaching a hand towards me.
I looked to his hand and then back to his face. He didn’t seem as irritating as his partner, so I put my hand in his.
“Anderson.” I responded, firmly shaking his hand before dropping mine to my side. “What do you guys want?”
Walker and Lemar looked towards the Knights still sitting around the living room, as if they didn’t want to share any information among civilians.
“They’re fine where they are, now answer the question.” I crossed my arms over my chest, leaning back against the kitchen island.
“We need you to tell us where Sam and Bucky are.” Walker commanded. “Or I can have you detained for questioning.”
“I’d like to see you try.” I mused, a smile crossing my lips as he became even more visibly upset. “I haven’t spoken to them in a few days.” I shrugged.
“Don’t do that!” He yelled, making me even more amused while the Knights watched on, unsure about this entire situation. “Don’t act like you don’t know they helped your psycho terrorist boyfriend escape prison!” Walker sneered, approaching me, making the smile fall from my lips.
“Boyfriend?” I heard Jack ask from his place on the couch, but I was too focused on Walker’s words.
“Helmut’s escaped?” I spoke softly, looking into Walker’s eyes for any sign of deceit.
“You really didn’t know?” Lemar’s voice made me look to him. I shook my head slightly as we made eye contact.
“I haven’t heard from anyone for the past couple days. The last time I spoke to Helmut was through the standard procedure recorded phone call, I’m sure you’ve already heard it.” I looked back to Walker, who still looked like he was fuming. “I won’t be much help to you.”
“You’re lying!” Walker’s hand suddenly grabbed my throat, squeezing slightly.
Before anyone could react, I swiftly removed his hand from my neck, spinning around with his wrist still in my grasp before sweeping his leg out from under him as I knelt, slinging him over my shoulder and onto his back. Moving to straddle his chest, I swing my right arm back and my palm swiftly made contact with his nose, a satisfying crunch could be heard throughout the room. Standing from Walker’s body, I backed away as he sat up, a hand covering his nose as he bled profusely.
“You fucking freak!” He exclaimed as Lemar rushed to his aid.
“I tried to be nice!” I spat. “Despite you being a piss poor excuse to take over as Captain America, I was honest with you when I said I had nothing for you, and you dare put your hands on me? In my home?” I sneered at him as Lemar assisted him in standing. “Be grateful I haven’t reduced you to ash where you stand.” My eyes glowing their bright shade of green as I was filled with fury at the audacity of this man.

Hamish’s POV
I’m sure Jack, Lilith, and Randall were just as shocked by this entire situation as I was. Not only was the new Captain America in Andy’s apartment, but she also just put him on his ass after he put his hands on her. Tundra and I didn’t even have the time to process his assault on her before she took him down. It was quite a turn on, making Tundra purr beneath my skin; however, now wasn’t the time or place for those thoughts.
Walker had just dropped a bomb on all of us. Andy’s companion who we originally thought would be behind bars forever has managed to find an out. Well, at least Andy and I were aware of her relationship to said criminal, but now I had some explaining to do with my fellow Knights. I also had a lot of questions for her, like the fact that her criminal is being described as a psycho and terrorist?
“Let’s all just take a second to calm down.” The darker skinned man, who introduced himself as Lemar, tried to reason.
“Tell that to her, she broke my nose.” Captain America nearly whined.
“Oh boohoo.” Andy’s eyes returned to their normal shade as I heard her heart beat start to calm down. “I’m telling you, I’ve got nothing. I know nothing.”
“We believe you.” Lemar spoke, shushing Captain America as he went to open his mouth. “We’ll go ahead and get out of your hair. Thank you for your time.” He ushered his companion towards the door.
“Thank you Lemar, at least one of you has their head screwed on right.” Andy retorted before shutting the door behind them.
“Your psycho terrorist boyfriend?” Lilith sneered beside me, glaring daggers at Andy.
“He’s more of a companion.” I defended Andy before Lilith could make any accusations.
“You knew?” Jack asked incredulously.
“She’s been very open and honest with me, yes.” I assured them. “I trust her.”
“Alright, well your take down was badass. I never expected to see Captain America on his ass like that.” Randall cheered. “Could you show me how to do that?”
“Uh yeah sure.” Andy spoke, seeming lost in thought.
“I’m sure you have a phone call to make.” I validated what she was probably thinking, her eyes meeting mine as she pulled her phone from her pocket.
“Are you guys sure you want to be around this?”
“I mean it’s a different kind of danger than what we’re used to.” Randall shrugged. “But I’m game.”
“I’m not asking you guys to fight.” Andy chuckled lightly. “But being associated with me, and knowing any information from this point on could put a target on your backs.” She spoke seriously. “So if you guys want to make a quick break, I’d say go now and I won’t be offended.”
“It’s not like we’re going to have to go on the run, and it’s not everyday you get to experience the Avengers action.” Jack mused, getting even more comfortable on the couch.
“I don’t want Hamish to get hurt in the end.” Lilith huffed, her arms crossed. “He doesn’t deserve to be second best to your criminal.”
“I’ve been aware of her relationship with him, and I accept it. I want to see where things lead.” I spoke, keeping my eyes trained on Andy, who was nervously shifting her phone in her hands. “We’re here for you.”
“I appreciate you guys.” She smiled at us, before looking down at her phone screen, clicking a few buttons before setting it on the coffee table before us.
The phone had been set on speaker, ringing filling the room as Andy drew her bottom lip into her mouth. After a few seconds, the ringing stopped, and a man’s voice replaced it.
“Oh hey kid, long time no talk.” A voice spoke tautly.
“Hey Sammy, where’s Bucky?” Andy leaned back in her seat.
“Oh you know, he’s around here somewhere.” Sam chuckled nervously.
“Is that right? What about Zemo?” Andy’s lips flattened into a line.
“How did you know? Did Buck call you?” He squawked. “It was his idea, I didn’t have anything to do with breaking him out. I told him this was a bad idea.” He sighed loudly. “Why did you tell Andy you broke him out?!” He shouted away from the phone to someone else in the room.
“I didn’t!” A deeper voice was heard in the background, I assumed that was Bucky.
“Your buddy John Walker paid me a visit.” Andy stated, looking down at her hands, picking at her fingernails.
“What did he want?” Bucky’s voice sounded through the speaker.
“Give me the damn phone Buck!” Sam yelled. “You’re on speaker.”
“He wanted to know if I knew your location. The fucker threatened me.” A grimace appeared on Andy’s face. “I had to put him on his ass.”
“Please tell me you threatened him with that line you say, with the ash.” Sam spoke hopefully.
“Of course I did.” Andy snorted making Sam laugh loudly, halting her assault on her fingernails. “Let me speak to Helmut.”
“Helmut? Since when are you on first name basis with the enemy?” Sam’s laughter stopped abruptly as he spoke in a judging tone.
Since when was her companion the enemy? She didn’t mention that.
“Don’t you talk to me like that, Bucky knew, take it up with him.” Andy sassed.
“Are you two kidding me? What’s with all the sympathy for this guy? He framed you for blowing up the UN and tore apart your team Andy!” Sam sounded exasperated.
“Wow he really is a psycho terrorist.” Randall commented.
“Is someone with you?” Bucky asked after a beat of silence.
“Yeah I made some new friends, they’ve gotten the spiel already, they’re in the know.” She waved her hand as if to dismiss the topic, not that they could see it.
The guy she was taken with blew up the United Nations? Framed her friend Bucky? And tore apart the Avengers? She must be very forgiving to look past all of that. It just goes to show that there’s so much more to learn about her.
“Give him the damn phone birdy.” Andy rolled her eyes.
“Meine geliebte.” A husky voice sounded through the phone.
“Helmut.” Andy’s voice spoke fondly, her eyes sparkling.
For some reason, Tundra stayed calmed. There wasn’t even a twinge of jealously at the way she spoke his name, not even from her reaction to his words. If anything, we were more intrigued by this man’s voice than anything.
“Have they been treating you well?” She inquired kindly.
“I resent that.” Sam sounded annoyed.
“Ah yes, Sam and James have been very accommodating.” Helmut sounded like he had a smirk on his face. “How do you fare schatz? You’ve acquired new associates.”
“I’m adjusting, they’ve been a lot of help. They’ve been very accepting.” She responded truthfully, her eyes meeting mine. Something in her tone must have told him something else that none of us caught.
“Is he with you liebling?” Helmut inquired.
Who’s the ‘he’ he’s referring to?
“Yeah, his name is Hamish.”
I was taken by surprise, my eyes widening as the other Knights looked between Andy and I. How did he know?
“Hamish.” Helmut spoke, almost as if he was testing how it sounded on his tongue. ”I wish to have an audience with him when the time is right vöglein.”
“Of course.” She sent me a small smile. “You’d like him. His face flushes the prettiest shade of red when he’s flustered.” Her eyes were on me.
Her words themselves made my cheeks grow hot. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t opposed to the way she was talking about me to her companion. I felt a heat burn in my belly, blood rushing downward as Tundra rustled underneath my skin. Before any of the Knights could comment on the tension that was rising in the room, a voice broke out over the phone.
“Okay enough of that.” Sam said, disgusted by their conversation.
