Chapter Text
As Luz exited the boardroom, she was met by Tinella at the door. “Hi, Luz! How was it?” Tinella asked, already motioning for Luz to follow her. “It was fine, just some upcoming event,” Luz said, shrugging disappointedly.
The conversation she had in the meeting room moments before is still stuck vividly in her mind, the emotions still present as well.
“Fun! Now onto our next assignment, I’ll give you a tour around the building! First stop, the break room!” Tinella pointed to the ceiling and walked with more purpose after that, Luz almost chuckled at the dorky woman.
“Also, since we’re friends now, you can call me Tiny; that’s what all my friends call me!” Luz nodded at that, the ghost of a smile fell on her face.
As they continued down the hallways, Tiny pointed to different rooms and told stories of the workers who owned them.
Luz found herself tuning the woman out, recalling the conversation she had earlier. Luz had her intentions when asking that question, she’d think that with all the criticism they got that it was obvious she wouldn’t get the job. Yet here they were.
Even Willow said the Blights were ruthless, wouldn’t they have rejected her with their callousness? Maybe Willow was wrong, maybe they’re not so bad, Luz thought.
Before Luz could continue that thought, they reached the break room, which just so happened to be located next to a cafe and the entrance to a courtyard.
“Ah, we’re here! So, we don’t have a coffee machine as you might have imagined, but we do have a cafe over here!” Luz observed the aforementioned cafe, it was called “Morton’s Hot Spot.”
Tiny then grabbed Luz’s arm and pulled her inside the break room. It was furnished similarly to the boardroom, with lamps and mahogany side tables, but it also had periwinkle couches with fancy legs.
Newspapers and a remote sat on the side table, a giant tv was mounted on the wall. “A little dramatic, don’t you think?” Luz asked under her breath.
Before Tinella could think of replying, two blonde-haired people walked in, one a guy, one a girl.
“Hey! You’re the person who showed up to their interview shirtless!” The girl pointed out with a grin.
“You did that on purpose, didn’t you? Knew it’d win over our dear sister?” The guy asked, leaning forwards with a teasing smile.
“N-No! Of course not, it was an honest mistake, I’d never!” Luz pleaded, face ablaze.
“Oh, yeah, a mistake, we get it Cutie!” She said with a giggle.
Luz, surprisingly only to herself, grew even redder. “I-I..” She stammered before the twins, she guessed, began talking once more.
“You probably already know this, but my name is Emira, and this is my dumb brother Edric!” Emira said, tilting her head towards her brother.
“Hey!” Edric said, an offended look on his face.
Emira rolled her eyes and spoke again, “So, you’re getting trained?” Emira questioned before continuing, “Nobody trains better than us!” She gestured to herself with a thumb and then winked.
Tiny deflated at that slightly but didn’t say anything.
“We’ll be your emotional support dawgs! Dog with a G.” Edric said, smirking deviously only to be shut down by Emira, “Dog already has a G, Ed…”
“… You know what I mean, don’t you Luz,” Edric said, glaring at his twin. “I think so?” Luz said confusedly, looking between the pair.
With a sigh, Emira tugged Luz further from the office. “Whatever, let’s go Cutie!” Emira accented her command with a wink.
Luz, with a flushed face, followed the two criminally attractive siblings.
“So, when we said we can train, we weren’t kidding, we’ll get you through this training and into your office in a jiffy!” Edric boasted, “Even though Mittens doesn’t think our training ‘appropriate’ and ‘up to regulations,’” Emira quoted with her fingers, “We still get the job done!”
Luz continued to frown, unsure of the two young adults, “Who’s Mittens?“
“Mittens is your firecracker of a boss,” Edric answered, an annoyed lilt to his voice.
“Oh?” Luz quirked her eyebrow confusedly, who are these people to just insult Amity like that?
“I don’t know if it’s really a good idea for you guys to say those things about Ms. Blight..” Luz spoke cautiously, looking at the two adults with hunched-up shoulders.
The two twins looked at each other before laughing, Emira spoke up as Edric continued laughing, her face flushed, “Oh, trust me, we’ve said worse things! Mittens is our dearest little sister, after all!” Emira said, a smirk present on her pink face.
“Wait, what?” Luz was bewildered, all this time she was standing around with two high profile business-people! They opened their mouth to apologize just to be interrupted, not for the first time today.
“So, we gonna get you trained or what, newbie? You obviously are at lack knowledge of our company.” Edric said, winking and squeezing Luz’s shoulder, who was slightly shorter than the man.
Luz nodded, blushing. Luz went over the past couple of minutes several times in her head, recalling their weird behavior, they are Blights after all, why are they so unprofessional?
As she followed the two adults, she studied their surroundings, the same walls, and floors.
—
“And that’s why we have three emergency exits on this side of the building instead of two!” Emira finished her explanation with a smile directed at Luz.
Luz found herself enjoying their training, laughing, gasping, and nodding along with the twins for the past hour. Before she knew it, it was over.
As they walked onwards, Luz regained the excitedness she had before the meeting, it was her first day after all! Why be so down about her boss? She’ll patch things up in no time, especially if Amity’s anything like her brother or sister.
Luz found themself imagining an Amity like her older siblings, flirty and confident. At that, she blushed.
“You okay Luz?” Edric asked, elbowing the brunette. Luz nodded, “Just really excited to see my office!”
“Well, you’re in luck! Here it is!” Edric waved his hands at a door, it had a window and a blank card on it.
“Hey! There you guys are!” The group turned to see Tinella, “Gotta run! See ya later Cutie!” Emira barked, grabbed her brother, and they both ran.
“Finally, we can continue your training!” Tiny sighed tiredly.
“Uh, about that..” Luz smiled sheepishly.
