Chapter Text

Epilogue

Two years later

“You ready for tonight?” Sophie asked as she strolled into the bedroom as Ryan was getting dressed.

“Babe, you ask the same question every week.” She chuckled. “Yes, I’m ready.”

Sophie smiled. “I thought I would be consistent with the question. Sophie said as the doorbell rung and she left the room to answer the door.

Tonight, Sophie and Ryan would be having their weekly dinner with their family and friends. Sometimes people would have to reschedule due to other conflicts but it has become a tradition that everyone would arrive to their house with their favorite dish and conversation.

Their house - Ryan and Sophie have been together for two years and moved in together after six months and married a year later. Most people would think it was quick but they have known each other for years so it was only right that marriage became their next step. After being married for some months they were still in their honeymoon stage and the transition has been great for the both of them.

“Babe. Are you coming?” Sophie yelled from the foyer.

“Yeah.” Ryan said as she walked out and abruptly stopped when she saw their new guest.

“Jada.” Ryan said.

“Hey. Sophie extended the offer. I hope it’s okay.” Jada said.

Ryan looked at Sophie as she nodded and walked away.

Ryan walked closer to Jada. “Thanks for coming.”

Ryan and Jada had been working on mending their relationship slowly. Jada had tried to use her money to persuade Ryan by buying the bar and gifting it to her. She also gave Sophie and Ryan a honeymoon trip to the Maldives which Ryan wanted to object to it but Sophie would not let her as she stated “If Jada wants to spend her money then let her.” Their relationship was fragile and slowly healing. Her being at this family dinner meant that they were getting closer to getting to know each other better.

Ryan walked over to the table as she watched her ready made family talk amongst each other. She never thought that pretending to be someone’s date years ago will bring the love of her life and wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, an aunt-in-law, her best friend, and her birth mother into her life. She smiled as she counted herself lucky and blessed.

Sophie came over to where Ryan stood and grabbed her by the waist to pull her into her. “What are you thinking about?” She asked.

Ryan smiled as she looked into her wife’s honey brown eyes. “It’s always you.” She said with a smile as she leaned closer to kiss her and their kiss deepened as they heard groans amongst their family.

“Uh, can y’all stop that so we can eat?" Jordan said.

“I agree. We gave y’all time to wrap all this up before we got here.” Mary stated.

Diane smiled. “They’re so happy guys…leave them be.”

“No, Diane. Last time we left them be they went into the bathroom for an hour and diddled themselves while we sat out here eating chicken. Just nasty.” Aunt Tish admonished.

Jada turned and looked over at Ryan and smiled as she was happy at the daughter she was able to reconnect with.

Sophie and Ryan separated to the applause of their family. They laughed as they sat down at the table and proceeded to enjoy time spent with their family.

Notes:

I like AU stories because Ryan/Sophie characters can be written in any story using their characters as references. I am always appreciative of comments to see what you guys think.
