Chapter Text
Huening Kai stood between platforms 9 and 10, anxiously clutching his trolley that held all of his belongings for the year. He opted out of bringing his own pet, and instead had a large bunny plushie strapped to the top of his suitcase. Owls scared him, he didn’t like the long talons, and he was scared he’d end up losing his family cat if he brought it along. So he thought the plushie would do just fine.
The young boy bounced a little on his tiptoes trying to spot his best friend through the crowds of people. He insisted on his parents leaving him at the platform alone and that he'd be fine with meeting Soobin. His parents were muggles, and although they were new to this world of magic, they had trusted Soobin greatly seeing the two boys grow up with each other.
After a few minutes, Huening Kai finally caught sight of Soobin's head as he bobbed through the crowd with his other third year friends walking along beside him.
"Hyung!" Kai yelled, jumping and waving his arms excitedly.
"Huening Kai!!" The older boy yelled back and started running with his trolley to meet up with him.
When Soobin made it to Kai he easily lifted the boy and twirled him around in a big hug.
"Ahhhh Soobin Soobin put me down!" Kai yelled out while laughing. When he was placed back on the ground his ears turned a bright red, embarrassed that his hyung did that in front of his other friends.
"Sorry, I'm just so happy to see you, and happy that you were able to find the platform okay." Soobin smiled brightly at the boy, flashing his dimples. "Oh, and these are my friends that I've been telling you about. This is Hyunjin, Jongho, Jeno and Felix. They are my fellow Hufflepuff classmates."
Huening Kai smiled at the boys and waved shyly.
"It's nice to finally meet you all.” He said. “I’ve heard so much about you guys.”
“Ah Soobin he’s so cute!” One of the boys exclaimed. He quickly shuffled over and wrapped Huening Kai in a hug. “I can’t wait to show you all around the school and take you to all your classes on the first day and..”
“Felix calm down, we can’t hover over the boy during his first few days, he’s gotta get the chance to make friends of his own too.” Said a boy with red hair, who stood a bit taller than the one currently wrapped around Kai’s waist. The red head then gently pulled the shorter boy off of Huening Kai and extended a hand. “I’m Jongho, and the little clingy one is Felix, but you’ll get used to his hugs don’t worry.”
Kai shook the red heads’ hand, the older boy's grip was unexpectedly firm.
“I really don’t mind, I drive Soobin crazy with my affection too.”
The others made quick introductions, all shaking hands with Huening Kai as well.
After they got through the introductions, Kai’s nerves melted away, he at least now had more than one familiar face to turn to if he needed. All the boys were so nice, he just hoped he gets sorted into Hufflepuff as well.
“Alright we should get going before all the good seats are taken.” Said Soobin. He then turned to face Huening Kai again. “Okay Kai, getting through the wall is really easy, all you need to do is just run and it will let you through. But I’ll go with you okay?”
“Okay right sounds simple enough.” The younger boy said. Nothing scary about running full speed into a brick wall right?
Huening Kai gripped his trolley once more, eyes focused on the wall about fifteen feet away from him.
“Okay on the count of three, run with me. 1…2…3!” Soobin said, yelling out the last number in excitement as the two boys took off through the wall together.
