EPILOGUE

‘Hello?’ Rachel paused the movie she was watching and leaned back against the headboard.

‘You’re making a mistake.’ The voice was slurred but familiar and she just sat up straighter.

‘Finn, don’t do this.’ She sighed.

‘We belong together.’ He hiccuped on the other side. ‘We always said we belong together, baby. Don’t you remember?’

‘We said too many things, Finn. Stop drinking and get some rest.’ She was close to hanging up on him.

‘I made a mistake. I should have never let you go.’ Finn almost sobbed. ‘I was so stupid.’

‘I forgave you, Finn. We really tried too much to make it work but it was never supposed to last. I wanted New York and you…’ She didn’t know what he really wanted, but she wasn’t enough. She wasn’t enough for him and that’s why he had fallen into Santana’s arms.

‘I was just a boy. I didn’t know any better but I do now. I know that we should be together and this wedding is a mistake.’ He pleaded. ‘I can leave her. I can leave her and we can be together.’

‘This is a mistake, Finn. You should have never called me and I am hanging up now.’ She was about to when he called for her name again.

‘Rachel. Rachel, please. Don’t you love me?’ He asked softly.

‘No. I don’t love you anymore and it’s been years now.’ Rachel closed her eyes when he whimpered on the other side. She heard the beer bottle smash against the wall or the ground and realized things never really changed. He hadn’t changed. ‘I am hanging up now.’

‘Yeah, fucking leave. It’s all you ever wanted, no? Leave us all behind!!’ He spat at her.

‘Goodbye Finn.’ Rachel refrained from arguing with him but just blocked his number. She didn’t need to see his poor attempts at messaging or calling her to apologize. It was just enough.

“Hey, I got some takeout from that vegan place across the street. Wanna join?” Jesse appeared in the doorway of the guest room where she was sleeping.

“Actually, I need to go somewhere.” She grabbed her phone and typed the current address in the Uber app.

“You’re not going to sneak out to see your blondie. Not on my watch.” He crossed his arms over his chest.

“Jesse, it’ll be quick and I just…” She slipped her flats on. “I need to see her.”

“See her for what? Who was on the phone?” He raised an eyebrow at her.

“Finn. It was Finn.” She sighed at the angry scowl on his face. “I can’t sleep without telling her ok? I need to…please, Jesse.”

“Fine, but I’ll take you there and no funny business. You have 10 minutes.” He nodded and turned on his heels to grab his own keys.

“You’re the best.” She followed after him with a soft smile on her face.

“Coming.” Quinn lifted her hair in a messy ponytail and fixed the hem of her t-shirt that fell just over the waistband of her track pants. When the doorbell rang again, she huffed. “Hold your horses!” She swung the door open ready to give them a piece of her mind but she stopped dead in her tracks.

“Hi.” Rachel beamed up at her. The blonde was dazed in the doorway and Rachel…well Rachel had her breath stolen away like she always did when she looked at Quinn.

“Hi.” Quinn fell against the doorway, mostly to hold herself upright.

“Can I come in?” She peeked around the other woman, who just stepped aside to let her in their own apartment.

“What…” Quinn closed the door behind her with a soft thud. “What are you doing here?”

“I needed to see you.” Rachel looked around and then back at the blonde, who looked perplexed. “I haven’t changed my mind.”

“Oh good.” She released a sigh she didn’t know she was even holding. “I thought it was bad luck to see each other before the wedding.”

“Unless you plan to marry me in your Yale t-shirt and sweats, it’s not really bad luck.” She chuckled and leaned against the back of the armchair.

“You ruined my surprise.” The blonde padded to where she was and reached for her, as soon as she was at arm’s reach. “Not that I am not happy to see you, but what brings you here love?”

“Finn called me.” Rachel’s fingers slipped under the hem of her shirt to play with it.

“I thought he had stopped bugging you months ago.” Quinn furrowed her brows. Her thumbs, though, kept on caressing each side of her jawline. “What did he say?”

“It doesn’t matter.” Rachel went to her feet and leaned forward, resting her head sideways against her shoulder. “Quinn?”

“Yes, love?” Her lips brushed her temple as she spoke against it.

“Promise me there won’t be secrets between us.” She held onto her. “Promise me that you’ll tell me if something ever changes for you and I’ll deal with it, but no secrets. No lies.”

“I promise.” Quinn nodded softly and caressed the small of her back through her tank top. “I also promise nothing will change.”

“You don't know that for sure.” She shook her head. “You could wake up, one day, and find out you have fallen out of love with me or maybe you’ll fall in love with someone else. Someone younger and more beautiful and-“ Her words died on Quinn’s lips.

“I am yours.” Quinn looked down into her eyes as soon as their lips parted. “We will fight and get mad but I will always be yours.”

“What if…” Rachel furrowed her brows.

“I want to grow old with you.” Quinn brought her knuckles to her mouth. “I want to build a house with you and come back to it for the rest of my life.”

“We can still elope now, can’t we?” Rachel chuckled through the tears.

“Our wedding planner might have a heart attack if we do.” She laughed and leaned down to kiss her gently and reassuringly. “I know you’ve been hurt before but I promise you I’ll do everything I can to make you happy.”

“You already do.” Rachel whispered against her lips and went in for another, when a knock on the door interrupted them.

“Time is up!” Jesse’s voice resonated through the door. “Don’t make me get in there to drag you out! Being naked is not an excuse.”

“You came here with him?” Quinn groaned.

“He wouldn’t let me do this alone and break our celibacy vow.” Rachel chuckled. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“Where?” Quinn grinned and when the brunette smacked her forearm, she took a step back. “Hey, this is domestic abuse.”

“Oh please, don’t be so dramatic.” She rolled her eyes at her and went for the door.

“Rachel?” Quinn called from behind her.

“Yes?” Rachel turned to look at her.

“I love you.” She smiled and it was enough to have the smaller woman run back into her arms, to steal one more kiss. One of those kisses that made their toes curl and heart skip a beat.

“I love you too.” Rachel pecked her again and when the blonde was too dazed to respond, she slipped out of the door.

RQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQ

“Oh, Lucy!” Judy wiped the corners of her eyes upon seeing her daughter right there, in her wedding gown.

“Mom.” Quinn held her own tears back and just pulled the woman in a warm hug. She didn’t even remember the last time they had hugged like this. Maybe for her high school graduation.

“You look so pretty.” Judy cupped her face and caressed her cheeks slowly. “Rachel is a lucky woman.”

“I’m the lucky one.” Quinn kissed her forehead and took a step back, fixing her gown for the umpteenth time.

“You’re fine Q.” Frannie chuckled from her right. “You are perfect, really.”

“I don’t want to mess it up.” Quinn nodded and took the bouquet of gardenias from her hands.

“You won’t.” Russell squeezed her shoulder affectionately and held his arm out for her to take. “Shall we?”

“Yes.” She breathed in deeply and looked up at the clear sky above their heads. They have been lucky with the weather for a wedding in the park. She took a step forward on the path that led to the garden when Russell stepped in front of him.

“I know I never was the affectionate Father that you and Frannie needed and I know I didn’t tell you enough but…” He took the small dolphin shaped pin from the lapel of his tuxedo and pinned it to the top of her dress. “I am proud of you Lucy and I love you.”

“Dad…” She looked down at the blue pin. “Grandpa Rob gave it to you.”

“And I am giving it to you now.” He fixed a loose lock behind her ear with tenderness. “It’s something blue, isn’t it?”

“I cannot keep it.” She tried to take it back but Russell stopped her.

“It’s yours now.” He kissed her forehead and took his place by her side, slipping her arm through his to resume their short walk towards their destination.

She heard nothing but the steady beat of her heart until the wedding march started playing in the background…

RQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQ

“She is coming.” Jesse leaned in to whisper in her ear and Rachel stopped fidgeting with the bouquet in her hands. It was now or never.

“What if she sees me and has a last minute panic? Have you seen the runaway bride?” Rachel looked at him who had dropped his usual smirk in favour of a genuine and concerned smile.

“Well, I don’t think Julia Roberts has ever looked at any of her grooms the way she is looking at you.” Jesse squeezed her shoulder. “But why don’t you check it for yourself?” He nodded and Rachel looked up, when the march started playing.

Rachel was used to Quinn’s beauty but nothing could have ever prepared to the immense joy and love filling her heart, at the sight before her eyes.

The wedding dress was made for her and the green tie in her hair did nothing but accentuate her long neck and perfect features.

“See? Told you.” Jesse nudged her and took a step back, falling into the background. Everything disappeared and it was just the two of them.

“Russell.” Rachel stepped in when Quinn reached the end of the aisle, covered in flower petals, and took her hand from his.

“Rachel, please take care of her.” He leaned in to kiss her forehead and then did it with Quinn, who was still dumbfounded by having been the one walking down the aisle.

“She will.” Quinn directed her gaze to her as soon as Russell took his seat behind them, right beside Judy. “I thought I would be the one waiting.”

“You’ve waited for all these months, it was overdue don’t you think?” Rachel leaned up to drop a soft kiss against the corner of her mouth. “You want to run?” She whispered.

“Only with you.” Quinn’s hand reached for her side and squeezed her hip.

“Shall we begin?” The officiant interrupted their small moment and caught their attention.

It was time to start.

RQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQ

“I think I drank too much and ate too less.” Rachel slipped her arms around her neck, in the middle of the dance floor.

“It will be over soon and we’ll go up to our room, to get some rest.” Quinn’s nose brushed against her temple and her arms tightened around her waist.

“Rest? That’s not what I have in mind for our first night as a married couple.” Rachel slid her hands up her back to cling onto her shoulders. “I will rock your world, Quinn Fabray.”

“Berry-Fabray.” Quinn leaned down to drop a soft kiss against her mouth. “I’ll take your surname officially.”

“You will?” Rachel pulled back to look at her, almost incredulous.

“If that’s fine with you.” Quinn swayed them in a slow dance.

“Yes, that’s perfectly fine.” She twirled around on her own and dropped more against the blonde, who just swayed them slowly. “I love you.”

“You better do, you just married me.” Quinn dropped a soft kiss against her forehead.

“And I can still file for a divorce if you don’t behave.” She slapped her arm playfully and then leaned up to kiss her lips. “These heels are killing me.”

“You can kick them off.” Quinn whispered against her lips. “No one has to know.”

“But you do and so do I.” She dropped more of her weight against her wife.

“I’ll keep your secret, love.” Quinn brushed her hair back and slid her arms around her waist, holding her up.

“We should go up to our room and just…” She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

“In a bit. We’ll do that soon.” Quinn chuckled and tugged the brunette by her hand, leading her back to their seats to have their second course of their meal.

“You’re no fun.” Rachel trailed behind her, pouting at her wife’s too appropriate behaviour.

RQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQ

“Mm, wait…” Rachel pulled the blonde away from her neck and held her from the shoulders, leveraging herself as she sat astride her lap in the middle of their hotel room.

“What’s wrong? Are you still feeling lightheaded?” Quinn’s hands rubbed over her hips and then clasped behind her back, holding her.

“No. I just…I have something.” She leaned down to drop a butterfly kiss on her lips. “I’ll be back soon, just lay down and don’t fall asleep on me.”

“I’ll try not to, but hurry.” Quinn let her go and just reclined back against the headboard, with the hotel sheets wrapped around her now naked body. She wasn’t going to resist much after all this time away from Rachel.

“Don’t sleep!” Rachel’s voice could be heard from the en-suite bathroom and she just rolled her eyes.

“Hurry.” Quinn called from where she lied and rested her head back against the wall.

“You are insufferable.” The door of their en-suite bathroom opened and when Quinn looked up, her breath was caught in her throat.

“Rach…” She sat up a little straighter and gripped the sheets.

“You like?” Rachel looked down at her satin baby-doll and strutted up to the foot of the bed, crawling over it towards the blonde woman.

“Mm.” Quinn was at loss of words and when Rachel was finally close enough, she pulled her in for a hard kiss. She kissed her with all she had, hands tangled in her messy locks and lips chasing hers, whenever she pulled back to breathe.

“Quinn…” She dropped in her lap and braced herself against the wall behind them. With her palms against the cold wall, she just met each fervent kiss and let her wife’s hands roam down her body to explore every inch of her new garment.

“You’re so gorgeous and I missed you.” The blonde’s nails raked down the back of her thighs and then back up, disappearing under the hem of her negligèe that fell right over her backside.

“I missed you too.” She whimpered when her palm cupped her from behind. She moaned when Quinn’s fingers brushed the edges of her hole and then forward to massage her nub.

“You didn’t have to, you know?” Quinn’s lips latched around her ear and tugged. She tugged and sank her fingers in, stretching her.

“But I wanted to…” She gripped the headboard. She gripped it until her knuckles turned white. She gripped it for support, stilling herself while Quinn thrusted inside of her so steadily.

“I missed you. God if I missed you.” With her other hand, she tugged at the strings holding it close together and dipped her head down, kissing along her collarbone and sternum.

“Quinn, please.” Rachel held her head there. She sank on her fingers, taking each thrust.

“What do you need?” She caressed her nipple with the tip of her tongue and slipped a third finger in.

“My…” Rachel took her free hand and moved it between her thighs, right where she needed it the most.

“Oh.” Quinn kissed the area around her nipple and rubbed her there. She used her thumb and forefinger to roll it between her fingers, feeling the effect it had on her.

“Like that.” She bounced slowly. She did it more and more until she was tightening so hard that Quinn couldn’t thrust anymore.

“Come for me, love.” Quinn’s lips found hers and kissed her moans away, as she fell apart in her arms. She fell forward, against her and just leaned on Quinn, who moved inside her.

“Mm.” She used the last strength in her body to get off her lap and drop on the mattress beside her, breathing hard.

“Tired?” Quinn rolled on her side and cupped the side of her face, brushing her thumb over the apple of her cheek.

“Recovering, but don’t think I am going to forget about you and your needs.” She nodded towards the tent in the sheets.

“I don’t care. We have all night and morning and the rest of our lives.” Quinn leaned in to kiss her gently. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” Rachel tugged her by the hair and drew her in another kiss.

RQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQ

“Baby, take it off.” Her thigh wrapped around her hip to meet each thrust with one of her own. She had lost any track of time, but she knew they had been rolling around in the expensive hotel sheets for hours now.

“Love, I want to…” Quinn’s hand slipped down her back to grab her by the ass and to pull her close, slamming forward inside her. “I want to last more than 1 minute.”

“I don’t care.” She tipped them over and crawled on her, bouncing on her lap while she crouched over her on her fours.

“Rach…” Holding her by the backside with both hands, she aided each movement of her hips. She kept the rhythm steady while their mouths met halfway.

“I’ll do it for you then.” Rachel pushed her back on the mattress and dismounted her just to drop her hand between her thighs and roll the latex off her, tying it quickly before throwing it inside the bin by the bed.

“Rachel.” Quinn sat up and buried her face against rhe side of her neck when she sank back on her, skin on skin for the first time in two weeks or even more. She was so close to lose it already.

“You can let go. You can let it go.” Rachel whispered in her ear and sank fully down, using her inner muscles to massage her length that was filling her up so deliciously.

“Fuck, I don’t wanna…” Quinn’s hands held onto her shoulders as she resisted her own urges to let herself go. She breathed in deeply and thought of anything that could distract her from the feeling of her wife tightening around her. So wet and warm.

“Yes, you can.” Rachel pulled her from her neck and dropped their foreheads together. “You can and you will do it again and again, because I love you and I want to have your baby.”

“We’re…we’re doing that already?” Quinn looked into her eyes.

“No, but I wanted to tell you I am ready. We can start whenever you want.” Rachel leaned in to kiss her gently. “It can be my last day today or when we’re back from our honeymoon. It’s not just my choice.”

“Okay, let me think about it? Maybe when I can think properly and I am not about to burst?” She chuckled and looked between their bodies.

“Maybe yes.” Rachel chuckled and pushed her down against the mattress, catching her lips in a hard kiss that just triggered her. She really couldn’t hold it any longer.

“Rach…” She pulled from her lips ans chanted her name, when white exploded behind her lids and she emptied herself inside her wife, who just followed after her.

RQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQ

“That tickles.” Quinn had her eyes closed but she was awake enough to feel the nails scratching along her hip and up over her abs.

“I know.” Rachel kept doing it and just rolled closer, brushing her nose behind Quinn’s ear.

“You’re not tired enough?” She reached for her hand and held it over her chest, after kissing her palm.

“I am but I cannot sleep.” She whispered against her ear and kissed it again. “Are you falling asleep on me?”

“I wish but someone is being noisy.” She chuckled when Rachel bit her earlobe playfully. “Ouch.”

“I did worse to you, don’t be a baby.” Rachel’s head rested on her shoulder and her leg slid between Quinn’s, hooking her foot around her ankle.

“I am not being a baby.” Quinn huffed and rolled towards her, curling her forearm around her back to draw her closer. “What’s on your mind, love?”

“You’re not having second thoughts about starting a family with me, are you?” She nuzzled the side of her throat.

“I am not.” She kissed her forehead. “Is it because I said I needed to think about you getting off the pill?”

“Yeah.” Rachel’s palm brushed over her sternum. “I mean we don’t have to, if you don’t want. You can change your mind.”

“I couldn’t really think of any coherent answer when you asked me, love. I was too concerned about something else.” She reached for her hand and kissed her palm again. “So, you’re ready?”

“I am, yes.” She looked up at her.

“And you’re sure it’s what you want. I mean, you can still have a brilliant career and I will support you, but maybe flying all over the country ain’t too recommended when we are further along.” She dropped their hands to caress her hip and down to her stomach.

“I will take a break from shooting movies, I told you I want to write my own songs.” She leaned in to kiss her softly. “I’ll take care of myself.”

“You’re not alone you know?” Quinn scooted low enough to push their foreheads together. “I am going to take care of you and of our babies the best I can.”

“Babies? As in more than one?” Rachel beamed and circled her neck with her arms.

“Well, we can start with one but I want more. Two, at least.” She leaned in to kiss her. “Three is the perfect number but we’ll have to find a bigger place.”

“Mm.” Rachel tugged her in and rolled them over, settling on her back with the blonde on top.

“We can start. You choose if it’s tomorrow or when we are in Mexico or when we’re back. But we can start working on it.” Quinn looked down into her eyes.

“You’re not just saying it because you feel pressured?” She cupped her face.

“I want to have a family with you.” Quinn leaned down to kiss her slowly. “That’s what I want.”

“I want that too.” Rachel smiled through the kiss and arched up, when Quinn slipped back inside of her. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” She nodded and leaned in for another kiss, while she started a slow rhythm back inside of her.
