Chapter Text
Mao's eyes were widened in surprise.
Nanoka followed the priestess down the stairs, wearing a tulle gown with art deco-inspired patterns in delicate beading and a plunging v-neckline. Wearing a sparkling headband veil, her cheek was blushed in pink like cherry blossoms.
Little Moroha, in a white floral dress and Otoya in a mini tuxedo, followed her.
“Nano…ka…” he was stunned and speechless.
He was not stupid. He definitely knew something was going to happen. But he was still surprised by Nanoka’s unique charm and beauty.
“Dr. Mao, please go to the stained glass window at the end of the ball room and stay. Mr. Hyakka and Kamon, please come here.” Kagome, the priestess announced.
"Huh? Me?" Hyakka asked curiously and followed the instruction.
When they came to the bride, Nanoka murmured to them, “Mr. Kamon & Hyakka, thanks for always taking care of me in this era. You two are like my brothers. Can you lead me to my groom in my wedding? "
“Remember I’m your elder brother, even though I look younger!” Hyakka blushed, then gave her his hand, “Come on!”
Kamon replied with a smile and said, "Sure, little Nanoka. This is for you." He took a seed from the inside of his shirt and magically made a bouquet with Nanoka's favourite flower.
Yes, he remembers. She was touched by these two lovely friends.
The guests stood aside, vacating the hallway in the middle, and were pleasantly surprised by Nanoka's beautiful style. Kamon and Hyakka led Nanoka to the rear window, Moroha and Otoya followed them.
The 5 miles towards Mao was like a marathon for Nanoka.
She had seen Mao in a formal dressing but this day was different. He’s not working on any mission, he's waiting for her solemnly, with love.
"Mao!"
Kamon and Hyakka handed Nanoka to Mao. She couldn’t hold back and hugged Mao. The guests all laughed and then clapped their hands.
"Hey!! It's not time yet! The wedding hasn't started yet!" Kagome stopped her but also found it very funny.
"Sorry..."
Light shining through the colourful stained glass window made the Nanoka's face shine like jewels. Mao had lived for nearly a thousand years, full of grief and loneliness but at this moment he felt that he was the luckiest man on earth.
"Ok! Our bride Nanoka and groom Mao are here. Let’s start the vows simply and solemnly." Kagome announced earnestly.
"Miss Nanoka Kiba, will you, have Mr. Mao to be your husband? Will you love him, comfort and keep him, and forsaking all others remain true to him, as long as you both shall live?"
"Yes, I do! Yes!" Nanoka responded, starting to tear up.
"Mr. Mao, will you, have Miss Nanoka to be your wife? Will you love her, comfort and keep her, and forsaking all others remain true to him, as long as you both shall live?"
Mao looked at Nanoka and held her hand, the world seemed to be fading.
"Dr. Mao?" Kagome tried to summon his soul back.
"Yes, I do...Forever." Mao said solemnly.
Kagome handed a ring to each of them. Mao and Nanoka loaded them for each other. They kissed each other so deeply until they couldn't breathe.
Hyakka snapped his fingers. Sparkling fireworks surrounded the newlyweds like starlight, as beautiful as a fairy tale. The guests cheered and applauded.
"Any speech to the guests?" Kagome continued to officiate the wedding after calming down in the room.
Nanoka stepped forward and said in a shaking voice, "Thank you for coming to our wedding, especially friends from other eras. Thank you for always loving me who was so reckless and childish. I lost my parents when I was a kid, but you guys are like my family. I won't feel lonely anymore."
She turned to Mao and said, "Also, I have a perfect husband now. I can't express my love in words..." She couldn't control her tears any longer.
Mao wiped the tears from her face. "I'm not good at words. Thank you all for coming to my wedding and experiencing this surprise together with me. Nanoka often surprises me a lot and she herself is the best surprise of my thousand-year life. She came from her era alone and chose to stay with me. I will love her with my life, forever."
Mao, who said you are not good at words? Nanoka kissed and hugged him passionately.
Little Moroha snickered, covering his eyes with her hands.
"Oh gosh...they should find a room." Inuyasha was in the corner of the room, murmured.
Then everyone danced in the ball room but there were always some exceptions. For example, Rinne was busy putting food in the boxes, and Lum was still excited about grabbing the bride’s bouquet successfully . Miss Tenko was dancing with Kamon, and Otoya was taking care of the children, including Shippo and Moroha.
And Miroku? He was comforting his drunk wife.
The whole dance floor was also surrounded by shining stars, the fireworks were warm. It was the most beautiful scene people had ever seen. Mao and Nanoka danced and snuggled up to each other, enjoying it all.
At the end, Kamon took out a vintage folding camera. At Ranma's suggestion, everyone took a group photo with a strange gesture. He called it the "Rumic sign".

Mao, Nanoka and Otoya changed back to their casual clothes and were on their way home. Cherry blossoms fell on the street at night.
"Nanoka, thank you for everything! " he said, holding her now ringed hand. "Where did you get the rings? It's the perfect size!"
"Mr. Totosai made them. Kagome ordered them for me!" she responded with satisfaction. "Because I'm afraid Mr. Meimeido will tell you."
"It's so thoughtful!" Mao looked at the falling cherry blossoms and said with a smile, "Do you remember our first date? It's really the perfect season."
"Hey! Wait!" Lum flew after them, scaring the people on the street. "Nanoka, this is a gift for you..."
Then she whispered to Nanoka and flew away, making Nanoka’s face redden.
"Nanoka, what's the matter?" Mao asked curiously.
"Can you come into my room a little later tonight? I need to... get ready." she said shyly.

At midnight, Mao knocked on the door but got no response, so he went directly into the room.
Nanoka was sleeping in the sexy lingerie that Lum brought from Modern. Her long eyelashes vibrated slightly as she breathed with smile.
It will make you look forward to the wedding night even more! He thought of her words and smiled.
You must be too tired these days. Have a sweet dream... He kissed her cheek and covered her with the blanket. I'm looking forward to our every day and night, my wife.
