Chapter Text
As Rex sat with Ahsoka, telling her all about how he had gathered the clones and how they eventually made their way to Boba’s palace and stayed there, rumors spread, as they always do with the clones, around the palace.
First, Comet had been talking with the mod heads, who told him about the mysterious Jedi who arrived. Excited, Comet had gone and told the rest of the Wolfpack, who started speculation on who the Jedi was (Comet had neglected to ask the modheads for details), and somehow it got to the other clones that there was a Jedi in the palace and each thought it was a different one, all hoping it was one of their Jetti General or Commander from the Clone Wars.
Finally, as all of the clones were gathered and definitely not doing any work, Cody walked in.
He did at a good time too, since the debating had since turned into bickering and was now starting to become arguing.
“Commander!” Several voices exclaimed.
Cody raised an eyebrow, “yes?”
“You know the Jetii that’s here?” Jesse asked.
“I do,” Cody said, “I was actually coming to get you all to see them.”
This sparked flurries of excited chatter and exclamations as they all eagerly headed for the door to the hanger bay.
“In the throne room, di’kuts”
…
Waiting in the throne room, Ahsoka vibrated with her excitement and apprehension, barely able to stay still for a second before pacing again. Next to her, Rex couldn't stop smiling, still barely believing his eyes.
When footsteps started echoing from the stairway, Ahsoka stopped moving and stood still, wrestling down a blinding smile, her hands still fidgeting at her sides.
The first clones into the throne room after Cody was the remains of the 501st, followed by Boil, Fox, and the Wolfpack, and the Bad Batch, excluding Echo, who anxiously walked with the 501st.
At the sight of their former Commander, the remains of the 501st stopped short, frozen, nearly tripping the clones behind them.
“Commander?” Kix croaked out.
“Hey guys,” Ahsoka said, a grin splitting her face and tears glistening in her eyes.
Unfreezing, Jesse, Kix, Tup, Hardcase, Fives, and Echo rushed Ahsoka, nearly toppling her in a giant hug.
Cody shoved Rex, who was openly crying now, “get in there, vod’ika.”
Everyone in the group hug was crying, babbling barely-put-together sentences into each other.
“I’m getting in there.” Boil declared, rushing into the hug and grabbing Cody on his way.
This spurred the Wolfpack into joining in, overjoyed to have their little bitey vod’ika back.
Wrecker, despite having no connection to Ahsoka, or really any Jedi, was just happy to see everyone so happy, along with wanting to join the hug, and ran at them with a yell.
Wrecker’s addition finally toppled the group, sending them to the floor in a happy, crying heap. Bursting out laughter from everyone caught up in it.
After several minutes of trying to compose themselves before either breaking back into tears or laughter and failing, the weeping clones and Jedi finally settled down, sitting in a circular blob on the floor of the throne room.
“What are you doing here commander?” Echo asked from where he was tangled in the center of the group.
Laughing, Ahsoka replied, “well, I came here for the youngling over there,” she said, gesturing to Grogu, “I had no idea I’d find you guys again too!”
“You’ll stay right?” Tup asked hopefully.
“She has to!” Hardcase told him.
“I’d love to,” Ahsoka said, regretfully, “but there’s work for me out in the galaxy and I couldn’t intrude on the Daimyo’s land, not to mention the trouble him having a Jedi around would cause.”
“You can stay.” Boba said from his throne, “I’ve already shown that I’m vastly different from other Daimyos, we have the room, and this isn’t a bad place to be based, especially if your family is here.”
“Please stay, commander, you know we’d all love it. You would too.” Rex told her.
“I’d have to move all my stuff, though most of it’s on my ship anyway… you’re sure it’s fine?”
“Absolutely.”
“Also, what better way to train Grogu than with an actual Jetti here?” Din added, “so long as you’re okay with, that of course.”
Grogu cooed at his name, smiling at Ahsoka, who smiled back, “I suppose you’re right, it really would be nice to stay here.”
“We definitely won’t put him through all the training you went through though!” Rex laughed.
“No, we definitely won’t. But no matter what, I suspect he’ll make an excellent Jedi.”
“Either way, we’re all happy you’re here.” Rex said.
Outside, it felt like the blazing heat of Tatooine’s suns turned a little homier, a little more comforting, and a little brighter.
