Summary:

“Oh~ see anything you like?” Dazai teased, noticing how Kunikida was paying attention to his lower half.

“What’s wrong with your leg?” He asked.

“Eh?”

“There’s obviously something wrong, so what is it?”

Work Text:

The sun was no longer as bright as it had been just a few hours ago, and the sky was painted with a variety of warm hues as the sun set.

Kunikida had just pulled Dazai out of a river, forcing them back to the agency. To be frank: Kunikida was annoyed. Today had been a bad day and his schedule had been tampered with multiple times already. He simply was not in the mood for his colleagues usual antics.

He was about to snap at Dazai to move quicker until he noticed something. Dazai was walking slow. Slower than usual. He found Dazai in a particularly shallow and rocky part of the river, and he had been a detective for a few years, so it wasn’t hard to deduce that something had probably happened to his leg.

Dazai had also seemed tense. It was hard to tell, but if you’ve known them long enough, you could notice. Kunikida turned around, and walked to Dazai, pausing him. He noticed the tenseness going away, and looked down to see how the brunette minutely lifted his right foot off the ground.

“Oh~ see anything you like?” Dazai teased, noticing how Kunikida was paying attention to his lower half.

“What’s wrong with your leg?” He asked.

   “Eh?”

“There’s obviously something wrong, so what is it?”

He noticed, I must be getting sloppy, they thought. “Oh, nothing. Absolutely nothing,” he smiled, sweetly. Kunikida did not look amused.

“Dazai, if you don’t let me help you, I’m calling Yosano.”

   “Kunikidaaa~” Dazai groaned.

He raised an eyebrow, “aren’t you the one who was just complaining about a paper cut for hours the other day?” They pouted.

   “I’m fine!” The brunette whined.

Kunikida pulled out his phone and started dialing a number.

“Fine,” Dazai quickly, although begrudgingly, relented. “I’m pretty sure I sprained my ankle, I just know I hit it pretty hard on a large rock.”

Kunikida smiled, asking, “now how hard was that?” Before quickly dropping it, and furrowing his brow, and staring at Dazai. He started slowly walking around them, Dazai watching him the entire time, before stopping behind him and carrying him up bridal style in one fell swoop.

Dazai, getting very flustered, red faced, and wide eyed, squeaked in surprise.

   “Ehh!?”

“You really are light as a feather..did you eat anything today,” the blonde asked, rather concernedly.

Dazai hesitated for a few moments before answering “..no.”

“I’ll get Kenji, I don’t think she’s eaten either yet,” he said, “We should get at least a little bit of food in you. We’re heading to the dorms so we can deal with your foot, i don’t want you walking on it.”

“I’m pretty sure Kenji had something from Ranpo today, right?”

“Yeah, a few chips from a bag. That’s it, did Ranpo offer you some?”

   “...yes.”

   “And you didn’t accept it?”

“...yes.” Kunikida gave them a very impressed look in response.

“I’ll cook for you.” Dazai beamed.

“Really Kunikida-kun? Awee, you’re an amazing partner,” Dazai cooed. Kunikida tried to keep a stoic facade on, but he was very clearly blushing.

“Yeah yeah, you better eat at least some of it!”

“I will I will! Don’t worry.” He smiled, stupidly. Kunikida only huffed, and they made it back to the Agency dorms before the sun had fully set.
