The Bathtub Talk
'' Cay I'm home. Where are you?'' Vivian blurted out after she walked into her apartment and put her bag on the small table right by the door.
''Hey Vivian, I'm here in the tub, if you want to join me.'' Cay shouted back. Vivian slowly climbed into the bathtub after placing all her clothes on the large white chest of drawers.
'' Nice of you to join me, Viv.'' Cay said with a smile on her face.
''You like the bathtub that much?'' Vivian asked, amused.
'' I do, sometimes. I found it relaxing after my night shifts at the casino. I think Silver got me into the habit. She likes that and I was with her once.'' Cay explained.
''You know, I was just thinking, if you like the water that much, we should have jumped in the lake after the engagment party.'' Vivian chuckled.
''I did that, with my dad and Walter. We used to drive by the lake several times and my dad would say look at all that water, it's beautiful. Then one time, we jumped in.'' Cay explained.
''That sounds nice.'' Vivian said.
''It was nice, on a hot day. Frances wasn't too happy about it. She was only worried about Walter. The first time she wanted him to learn how to swim, he started panicking. He calmed down after we went back to the lake a few times.'' Cay continued.
'' So you don't regret leaving Reno to come with me to New York ?'' Vivian asked.
'' No, I don't.'' Cay replied. '' I get up in the morning and I smile when I see you. I'm happy here with you and I love you, Vivian. Silver, Joe and Walter are happy for me. They think I deserve to be happy with someone who loves me.'' Cay explained.
Vivian smiled and leaned over to kiss Cay.
''So how was your day ?'' Cay said.
''After my lessons I was organizing a bunch of novels and other books. I ordered them so I did it myself. I had several boxes. It took longer than I expected.'' Vivian replied.
''How about you ?'' Vivian said.
'' I've been here for weeks now and I like going to parks and other places but I keep thinking I should find a job if I don't do anything with my pottery here. Walter said he will send some of my stuff if I want to stay here for some time.'' Cay said.
'' Don't worry about it too much Cay, I'm sure you'll find something soon without trying too hard.'' Vivian said.
'' I hope so.'' Cay replied.
'' Well, if it makes you feel any better, we can find a casino for you to go to, since you're already used to that.'' Vivian added.
Cay chuckled.
''Besides, I got used to having you around for a while now. I like having company. It's nice to have someone to come home to after a long day.'' Vivian said.
''We could read some of your novels together.'' Cay said, making Vivian laugh.
''Why not ? You got to see my work. I could see some stuff you work on.'' Cay said.
''That's a good point, Cay. I thought you might not be interested in my classes.'' Vivian said.
'' Well I was thinking about something we could do together.'' Cay replied.
'' I could go to the park with you if you want ? Or go have a coke ?'' Vivian asked, with a smile.
'' Thanks Viv, that's nice.'' Cay said, smiling.
'' How about watching a movie until we both fall asleep on the couch ? Or making a cake ?'' Cay added.
''I think I would like that.'' Vivian said as they stepped out of the bathtub and grabbed their bathrobes.
