Summary:

Sure! Lukas wasn"t always openly affectionate but that did NOT give a random girl permission to flirt with Philip, did it?

or in short, Lukas forgot Philip is gay.

Work Text:

Jealousy would be a big understatement.

Lukas was ready to grab whatever the hell was closest to his hand as a weapon if the she didn’t step away from Philip right this second.

Just a film reel! Philip had said. Just a new reel and then we can go home and watch that stupid movie you like.

Firstly, The Maze Runner was very much NOT stupid, thank you.

Secondly, just a fresh reel huh? He walks away five minutes and a girl is already pressed onto Philip’s side as if she wanted to rip his clothes off right there in the convenience store. And who the hell sells reels in convenience stores anyways?

Now, standing at the aisle two lanes away, Lukas was trying his absolute hardest not to walk up to Philip and start kissing him all over his body right next to the self-checkout.

But he could already feel Philip’s glare if he did do that.

He groaned, looking away from the giggling girl twirling her hair, and Philip who was smiling at the small talk they were making. The fucking audacity of her to be flirting with HIS man, let alone in the exact place they met...

As he looked in front, an idea struck him. Before he had time to actually think the plan over, he was already making his way to his boyfriend and the girl with a small box in his hands.

“Hey babe!” Lukas smiled, wrapping his arms around Philip’s waist as if he would run away if he let go. He pressed a soft kiss on his neck, immediately affecting Philip seeing as to how he pulled away and frowned up at Lukas, which of course he did since Lukas wasn"t a very PDA kind of person. “Hey," Philip said, dragging the y, a quizzical look on his face, and slowly stepped out of the embrace.

Out of the corner of his eye, Lukas saw the girl frowning, looking at Lukas as if she was about to push him into the cart behind him. He smirked, putting the box he had grabbed on the counter, “found the condoms we were looking for!”

And oh boy.

Philip turned as red as the dress the girl was wearing, his eyes widened as much as they could have. Said girl having her jaw dropped herself. “oh,” She said, gripping her things while mumbling incoherent apologies before rushing away to another counter, her face red with embarrassment.

Lukas waited till she was aisles away, before bursting out laughing. A few people around them turned to look at him, but he didn’t actually care. Though when he looked up, the look on Philip’s face shut him up immediately.

He was wearing the look of disappointment that always made Lukas stop dead in his tracks and beg for forgiveness until Philip gave in.

“Let’s just go,” Philip said, paying as quickly as he could before grabbing the bags and rushing out the door. Lukas sighed, following him, of course.

“Philip! I’m sorry!” he tried catching up with his boyfriend, who could easily be a track star with how fast he walked and ran, “don’t be angry!” he was out of breath already.

This is why he was a motorcyclist. Fuck running.

Philip walked over to where Lukas’ bike was parked, putting his helmet on. Lukas caught up a few moments later, leaning on the nearby wall to catch his breathing. “Phil… sorry... god… Running… so fast,” he panted between breaths. “You’re just slow,” Philip replied, handing him his helmet, “Get on.”

Lukas groaned and got on, immediately feeling Philip’s arms around him. It was funny how they had been dating for a while now, but the simplest touch Philip offered could make Lukas lose his mind, and he wanted to tell that to Philip. He wanted to say how ready he was to have all sorts of firsts with him. But he wasn"t exactly a wordsmith, so instead he said, “well I was shot in the chest like twice," sarcastically. The comment made Philip stiffen up, “don’t joke about that,” he mumbled, and Lukas knew not to push further.

In another 20 minutes, they were at the Caldwell’s lodge. Lukas wheeled his bike in the garage and Philip went inside with all the things they bought.

“Helen and Gabe not here?” Lukas asked when he finally walked inside.

“No, Helen told me to buy whatever the hell I want for dinner because she and Gabe are not gonna be back till next Monday. Some case in the city, Gabe didn’t want to leave her alone.” Lukas nodded, jumping to sit on the kitchen counter.

Philip looked over at him and let out a soft sigh. “You embarrassed her,” he said, no specifications needed.

Lukas scoffed, “Yeah, well, that’s what she gets for trying to get my boyfriend to fuck her.”

Philip frowned, confused, “What?”

“Don’t tell me you didn’t notice her blatantly obvious flirting.”

“Lukas, are you hearing yourself?”

“Dude she was eye fucking you. I went away five minutes to the washroom! And I come back to see you flirting with the wicked witch of the west for god’s sake!”

“Are you seriously jealous of that girl?”

“She was legit about to kiss you if I hadn’t shown up!”

“Lukas, Oh my god, you complete utter fool.”

Lukas shut his mouth to look up at Philip, who had an amused smirk on.

“What?” Lukas frowned.

“Did you just completely forget I’m gay?”

Oh.

Right.

Philip snorted at Lukas’ bewildered look, walking over to him and placing his hands on his face and pressed a kiss on his nose. “God you’re an idiot. I’m in love with a complete fucking idiot,” he chuckled.

Lukas swore he felt his heart stop, even if just for a moment.

Philip was in love with him. Philip, the guy with the beautiful laugh, cliché jokes, and hair that Lukas always wanted to touch. Philip, the guy Lukas wanted to kiss senseless all the time. Philip, who was standing in front of him realizing that this is the first time he ever said I love you, loved him. His eyes shot open, hands falling back as if he burnt himself.

“Shit I’m so sorry I did-“ he didn’t get the chance to finish with Lukas jumping off the counter and bringing their lips together in a deep, deep kiss. Philip hummed into the kiss, placing his hands on Lukas’ waist hesitantly and pulled him in closer, if that was even possible.

After what felt like eternity, Philip pulled away, searching for an answer in Lukas’ expression. Lukas just smiled, placing one hand on his jaw and caressing it, “I do too. Love you, I mean,” Lukas let out a short laugh that sounded more like a sigh of relief. Philip sighed in relief himself, pulling Lukas in a hug and burying his face in the crook of his neck. Lukas rubbed his back, pressing soft kisses wherever he could.

“Still an idiot,” he heard Philip mumble against him after a few seconds.

Lukas frowned, scoffing, “Am not!”

“Define déjà vu,” Philip said, pulling away with a smirk. Lukas’ jaw dropped, the smile behind it visible, “Asshole!” he exclaimed, punching Philip on the shoulder, who only laughed.

“déjà vu is what you’re about to feel when I take you to rose’s party this weekend and kiss you in front of everyone just like at red hook,” Lukas smirked, biting his lip lightly. If Philip’s blush was anything to go by, he was headed in the right direction.

“Promises, promises,” Philip mumbled, smiling before going to put away the rest of the stuff.

Lukas chuckled, continuing to watch his boyfriend unpack.

When Lukas spotted the box of condoms he had put down, his smirk only grew bigger, as he picked it up and pretended to examine it.

“Let me take that back,” he started, “Déjà vu is what you’ll experience when we use these tonight just like at the motel,” He looked over at Philip, who just quickly threw away the bags and lunged forward to kiss him hungrily, guiding them to his room.

And if Philip did in fact experience déjà vu that night, that’s for him to know. And his boyfriend, who he loves very, very much.
