Chapter Text
“Hey Drake, can I talk to you for a minute?” Wally asked with a pleading look on his face. The others had gone below deck to start making lunch, but Wally had other things on his mind.
“Fine,” Drake agreed with an annoyed sigh. He leaned against the railing and crossed his arms, waiting for Wally to say something.
“I know last night was rough for you-”
“Understatement of the year,”
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry. It was really unfair to you, things shouldn’t have got so out of hand, and I should’ve never gotten that angry at my boyfriend,”
“Yeah, about that whole, ‘me being your boyfriend thing,’”
“What about it?” Drake couldn’t help but notice how Wally’s voice quavered.
“I don’t think I should be anymore,” Below deck, Ray spit out his drink.
“What? Just because of one argument?”
“Not just that-”
“Then what else?” Drake held his breath at the sudden wave of panic from Wally.
“Could you calm down-”
“CALM DOWN? I’ll calm down when you explain yourself!”
“I just-”
“Just what?”
“I just can’t date you anymore,”
“What do you mean you ‘just can’t?’ You owe me an explanation!”
“I don’t owe a damn thing to an insensitive, unreasonable asshole!”
Wally was surprised he didn’t get whiplash from how fast he went from panic to regret.
“Drake I-”
“Just go,”

Looks like that didn’t go well, Ray thought to Wally, who sat down next to him at the table. Ronin and Phoenix were across from them. Mike was reheating shepherd’s pie. It was awkwardly quiet while they waited for lunch.
“That Drake kid was acting pretty weird. Mind if I ask why?”
“This may sound a bit crazy,” Ray began, “But for some reason, we have some sort of telepathic link, but only between the five of us. We can hear each other's thoughts and emotions, and we feel each other’s pain, which can get pretty annoying,”
“And you have no idea why?” Ronin asked. Ray shook his head. “So what’s got to do with Drake acting weird?”
It was Wally who answered next, “Well, Ray was getting really stressed out when his dad went missing, which stressed us out too, which made Ray even more stressed, and eventually it got so bad we all blew up at each other because of how it was affecting us, except Drake didn’t get mad like we did. He was just sitting there while we were screaming our heads off, and he’s barely talked to us since,”
“Did you try apologizing to him?” Ronin suggested.
“That’s what I was doing,” Wally said, “But,” he was hesitant to share the next part, not knowing how Ronin would react, “He broke up with me,”
“That’s rough,” was all Ronin said. He hid it well, but inwardly he was thinking, Lloyd, what the hell is up with these kids? I wonder why he didn’t find a way to keep their emotions from getting out of control, and what’s up with these kids growing up alone? The Ninja have always been sappy idiots, you’d think if anyone would want to keep their kids close it would be them.
“Lunch is ready,” Mike announced, carrying several plates of shepherd’s pie to the table.
