Chapter Text
Izuku was never one to complain about having to work hard, he took pride in the fact that he put 100% of himself into everything that he did. Whether it be his shop, his plants, or his image Izuku always made sure that he never gave less than his all. It was both his greatest virtue and his greatest curse.
Yet it took about 4 days of training with a certain pink-haired alpha that the realized he was reaching his limit. After the first day of training and learning choreography in the gym he felt unstoppable, his skin buzzed with excitement at the thought of being fawned over and being able to show off some of the more physical things he learned at that private school.
The second and third days came with muscle pains and muscle strain at being stretched every which way, pushing the absolute limits of the flexibility that came so naturally to him. He offered a weary smile at the end of their sessions when Mina offered him encouragement and praise for how well he was doing. For the moment it was enough to make the ache in his muscles fade away.
By the fourth day, Izuku was ready to throw in the towel, after training with the other cheerleaders, practicing being thrown and caught by the alphas on the cheerleading team, and panicking as he thought countless times that he was going to be dropped he was ready to call it quits.
He was fine performing flips on his own, years of gymnastics gave him the confidence that he needed to perform such feats. Multiple front flips and back flips? No problem, he could do them while drunk if he really wanted to, but relying on three people to not only launch him far enough to do a stunt but also have the coordination to catch him? That was something that he wasn’t entirely comfortable with.
Izuku knew it was too late to back out, a solo was already put together for him where he would do a couple of back flips to wow the crowd at the end of their performance as a last little hurrah.
After everyone else left, Izuku got down on the linoleum floor, spread out like a starfish as he tried to regain his sense of balance. He took deep gulps of air, trying to steady his breathing, he knew it had been a while since he trained so vigorously but Izuku figured after a couple of days it would be nothing.
“Ah my little Izuku, here have some water. You’ve done a lot today, we can just sit here, stretch and chat for a bit.” Mina laughed a little before continuing, “You look as though you’ve run an entire marathon.” She plopped right down next to him, placing a water bottle by his head.
Izuku knew Mina was a formidable woman, the epitome of a female alpha. She stood tall and muscular and carried herself the way a true leader would. Izuku was tall for a recessive omega but even then she dwarfed him in comparison, her personality adding to how big she was. Izuku was jealous, he was laying down gasping for air and she was completely fine. Not a singular hair is out of place.
“You train like this every day? Every single fucking day?” Izuku said as he sat up, wincing a bit after feeling sharp pinpricks of pain in all of his muscles. “Even the throwing?” He uncapped the water and took several big gulps, the water so cold he felt it rush down his throat. Izuku would have been dramatic if he said that even drinking water hurt so he kept that sentiment to himself.
“Yup- every single day. I think it’s a good way to exercise and I will have to admit there’s nothing like working up a crowd. Plus how else am I going to support Kiri?” She responded in a matter-of-fact tone as if Izuku should have known these things before even asking.
Izuku shrugged in response, leaning forward to touch his toes, ignoring the burning in his back from the stretch. He knew this was a passion of hers, how her face lit up with a beautiful smile as she was soaring through the air. How her movements were absolutely perfect as if she had been dancing and airborne since the moment she was born.
“Thank you for helping us out I know it's a lot to ask and there’s only a week to prepare but I appreciate you doing this for me, for us. The routine would have looked asymmetrical without a second flyer and most of the other girls weren’t up to the challenge.” Mina said as she came up behind Izuku, putting her palms and pressing Izuku forward ever so slightly.
“Anything to help-“ Izuku wheezed, he was being bent forward as if she was trying to fold a piece of paper, which wouldn’t have been such a heavy task if Mina hadn’t run him ragged.
“So..” She began, with a tone that Izuku knew she used when she was ready to gossip. “I was told that there was quite the scandal at your shop a couple of days ago- care to tell me what happened Zuku???” Izuku didn’t need to look at her face, he already knew she was smiling deviously, fangs bared.
“What have you heard? Let’s start there.” Izuku responded, worming himself out of her grasp. He turned to face her, eyes glittering with mischief.
“I was told that you nearly dog-walked Hoshi’s boyfriend, that's what I heard. I might be hyping it up a bit to tease you, but I heard he left your place sobbing. What did you do?” Her face morphed into one of concern, unsure what to make of such a thing.
“That's not what happened at all, the boyfriend recognized me and caused a scene and I got upset. That's all that happened.” Izuku didn’t want to say anything else- he brought his knees close to his chest and tried to avoid her gaze. “I didn’t mean to yell at him- or tell him that I was gonna take Hitoshi from him. It just slipped out. Also, he’s gonna hate that you still call him Hoshi by the way.”
“He’s not gonna know and you aren’t going to tell him- and don’t change the subject- Izuku I know you aren’t like that, what happened?” Mina said, putting her hand on his head. She could sense that it was a rough subject and that Izuku wanted to avoid it. However, after all of the time she knew him, she knew he needed to talk about it.
The feeling of her hand was comforting, it grounded him for a second. She was always one to succumb to her instincts, unafraid to touch and comfort however she saw fit. Izuku thought it was refreshing- he didn’t have to ask for comfort because she knew exactly what to do to bring him peace.
“He did the stupid thing that every omega does as soon as I open my mouth and they see my fangs. He called me ran through and accused me of trying to sleep with everyone. I already talked to Hitoshi, who was angry about it and apologized. Now I owe him a huge favor because it took him forever to calm that brat down. Not only that but I wasn’t in a good mood because he was acting a bit too familiar with someone in the shop.” Izuku didn’t mean for the words to pour out, or to even mention that certain someone who made his insides burn with longing. He knew his mistake as soon as the word came out of his mouth. He quickly closed his mouth, the clicking of his teeth a little louder than intended.
Mina was looking at him with a gaze that was almost predatory. This was a huge piece of gossip and she wasn’t going to let up until she found out. The closing of his mouth was all the confirmation that she needed that she was on the verge of something juicy.
“Let me see, let’s think for a second shall we?” She began. Izuku gulped, hands fiddling with themselves as he avoided her gaze again. “Sero was there and I know you don’t like him. Sure the pipe gave what it needed to give at the time but there’s nothing emotional there. Kaminari I for sure know you aren’t into it. There's no need to dwell there. I know you would never step out of line with Kirishima. Without my explicit permission of course. So who does that leave little Zuku?” Mina got closer to his face, her yellow irises staring into his very soul.
“You’ve got it all wrong- it's nothing forget I said anything.” Izuku tried to deflect, his thoughts swirling around in his head. He knew he was going to talk about it, but he was unsure how much to say, how far into their story he would have to go back, and if he was going to share the heartbreak. Only Hitoshi knew the extent of the damage and even then he hadn’t even told the purple-haired alpha who broke his heart, only that it happened and that it hurt.
“Katsuki Bakugo.” She said and almost instantly he purred. The noise rumbled deep and loudly in his chest before he got up and started pacing, a hand rubbing his chest. The scent gland in his neck buzzed lightly at hearing the name. Yet the purring wouldn’t stop.
“Oh, you’ve got it bad. You have got it so bad for him, you should go for it! He’s been known around campus as the perpetual bachelor since all he does is study. Never really hangs out with anyone either, it’s kinda surprising he called me on Sunday and asked me when the squad would be cheering again, it’s not his kinda scene.” Mina said, filling the gym with calming pheromones as she noticed how tense Izuku got. She sat back nonchalantly looking at her manicure, unaware of the bombshell she just dropped on him.
Izuku heard ringing in his ears- Katsuki called her. To ask her when they would be performing next. Why did he want to know? Why was he going? Who was he trying to see? He paced back and forth and bit one of his thumbnails, a terrible habit he had developed when he was a kid in response to stress. His heart was beating a mile a minute, he felt the blood in his body pulsing in his throat.
It was only then that it clicked in his mind, Katsuki must have seen what was in the bag the day that they all came to his shop. He must have asked why Sero was dropping off such a thing to him no less. He was a smart man, he must have put two and two together and he was going to appear at the game.
“Hey Zuku come here, sit with me, you need to calm down you’re going to chew through your thumb at that rate, here come.” She said with open arms, pointing to her lap.
Izuku sighed and made himself comfortable in her lap, he already knew his scent was tinged sour with distress. He knew his scent must have prompted Mina to act- a base primal urge that propelled her to comfort the distressed omega in front of her. Primal urges aside, it was her eyes that motivated him to move. She was worried about him- not just as an alpha but as a friend.
They sat quietly for a bit, the pink-haired alpha resting her face on Izuku’s shoulder as she nosed around his neck- purring softly in order to calm him down.
“I’m sorry for bringing it up, I shouldn’t have overstepped your boundaries like that.” She said softly, lightly squeezing him in a hug.
“No it’s fine, I just need to find the words. The whole scenario is complicated.” Izuku responded just as quietly, taking another moment to pause and sort out his thoughts.
“We used to go to the schools, we were friends in elementary school. Everything was much simpler back then. Then middle school came along and everyone started to get their secondary gender, I was so excited I thought I was going to be an alpha just like him.” He hesitated for a bit- it felt like it was just yesterday, all the memories rushing back to him.
“Were you disappointed when your test came back as an omega?” Mina asked- unsure where the story was going. However, she was ready to listen regardless of what he said.
“No, I was a beta. I had multiple tests confirm it. From then on he and I- we had drifted apart. There was no us anymore, he did the typical things that alphas did. He basically stopped being my friend because I was a beta. He was a cool dominant alpha and I was a stupid beta.”He continued- the memories sitting heavy in his stomach. He swallowed back tears and took another breath.
“That’s so fucked up wait until I get my hands on him,” Mina said a little growl escaping her lips as she hugged Izuku closer.
Izuku smiled somberly at the display- it was a sweet gesture but it was far too late for that.
“There's no use- he’s different now. I’m different now. Either way- I still liked him. I still wanted to be his friend, and those feelings can only go unattended for so long before it becomes an unrequited crush. I was a fool- in high school, I put my feelings on paper and all I got in return was laughed at. He laughed at me and basically told me to fuck myself.” Izuku gasped a little as he felt a drop fall on his hands, he lifted up a singular hand and felt his cheek. A wet trail met his fingertips, he hadn’t even realized that he was crying.
“Oh my darling I’m sorry- that kind of heartbreak takes forever to heal.” Her words were comforting, Izuku needed to hear them. He cried the night it happened and then tried to force the feelings away. The pain he carried needed to be felt if he was going to heal, and by telling her what happened he was going to heal. Or at least attempt to.
“What was really fucked up was that same night I had my first heat. I was so painfully delirious that I heard him and felt him everywhere. He breaks my heart and I cream my pants thinking about him the same night. It was pathetic. I felt pathetic. ” Izuku tried to stop the tears from falling, he balled up his fists and rubbed his eyes but the tears wouldn’t stop coming.
Mina was about to say something but before she could Izuku cut her off.
“I panicked and left- I told my mom that I wanted to go to that private school for omegas and she didn’t fight it. She didn’t ask. I went there, and come to find out it’s like a school to make the perfect omega. I thought about Katsuki off and on for years- I was an omega. A recessive one at that- a perfect counterpart to his alpha.” He took a shuddered breath- “It was too late- I told myself to leave it all behind. I moved and moved on. I worked like a dog to open my shop and slept around to fill the void. Things were going to be fine.”
“Let me guess he just shows up right when you pledge to give up? Stupid bastard.” Mina growled, sympathy tears brimming in her own eyes.
“Yeah, you know how the story goes. He comes into my life and it's like a breath of fresh air, it felt as though everything was dull and I lock eyes with him and everything comes into perfect focus. I think about going back to the safety net of my plans and it makes me feel so empty. I told myself I wouldn’t crush on him again, I vowed it to myself. But the heart wants what it wants. He doesn’t make it easier either. He gave me his number, which I refuse to use, and now he’s going to be at the game.”
“It's fate isn’t it? You can't go against destiny!” Mina spoke with conviction, blinking away the tears. “You know what- you are going to give him hell. You are going to look so good and you're gonna move so good that he’s going to regret ever saying anything bad to you. I swear it.” She said as she held onto him and hoisted him up. She stood in front of him, hands on his shoulders as she gazed into his eyes.
“Don’t give in so easily- make him work for it. If he's nosing around asking when this is happening and he keeps appearing then he wants you. I have half a mind to punch him right in the dick but you need to be strong. Make him regret everything and make him fall to your knees. Then if you want you can indulge in feelings. At the end of the day, it’s your turn to either accept or reject him Izuku. Not his.”
He stared blankly at her, the words firmly imprinted into his brain. This situation was completely different, he was no longer the timid high schooler that would hang onto Katsuki’s every last word. He wasn’t the one who was going to be rejected, Katsuki could flirt and fluster him until he was beet red in the face but without his explicit approval, there would be no courtship.
He was unsure what he would say when the time came- even though his omega was ready to scream yes from the tallest mountain as loud as it possibly could.
“You are absolutely right, let’s fucking rock this shit,” Izuku said with a bright smile, wiping away the stickiness of dried tears on his face.
Three more days until he made Katsuki regret being alive and he couldn’t wait.
…
It was finally the game day and Izuku felt like throwing up, he felt as though his heart was both in his throat and ready to fall out of his ass at the same time. There in the locker room, he felt waves of anxiety washing over him, but it was too late for him to back out.
“Izuku you are looking a little green are you alright, do you want the pants instead? You don’t have to wear the skirt if you don’t want to.” Mina said, putting a hand on his shoulder. She held a spray bottle in her other hand, a sinister look in her eyes.
“No, I’m fine, just a little nervous. It’ll pass, we’ve been practicing so hard, it’ll be okay. Plus the skirt makes my legs look great and I’m looking to kill.” He threw in a little joke at the end of his sentence to lighten his mood.
Mina suddenly put her hand over his eyes, ignoring the protests coming out of Izuku’s mouth. She was spraying something onto his green curls, which he had spent more time than he would have liked to admit before arriving.
“There now take a look at yourself, I always add this as a finishing touch,” Mina spoke, hip cocked smugly as she looked at him, a singular manicured finger pointing at the mirror behind him.
He turned around and for a moment he let himself be enthralled by what he saw.
She had sprayed glitter onto his hair, fine little golden specks settled on his green strands. He shook his head and he saw the curls bounce and shimmer. It felt as though he had little stars weaved throughout his hair and It made him feel ethereal. He looked around and saw the other cheerleaders with glitter spritzed in their hair as well. Some with red, a few with silver, but he was the only one who was doused with the color gold. It was as if Mina wanted him to stand out more than he already did.
Some of the other teammates cooed at how he looked, saying that he fits right in with the team. He had never experienced such camaraderie and so accepted by so many people before, it left him wanting to take that feeling and use it to help him power through.
He took one last look at himself before getting ready to go to the football field, wanting to nervously fuss over himself at least once more.
It had to look perfect.
He had to look perfect.
The skirt sat a little lower on his hips, perfectly exposing the symmetrical thorn-apple flower tattoos he had above his hip bones. The length was perfect for his little fantasy, it sat halfway down his upper thigh, leaving just enough fabric in both the front and the back to cover his modesty. His omega preened at the thought of Katsuki getting a glimpse up his skirt. A devilish smile appeared as he looked at himself from the back, more tattoos being accentuated with stray specks of glitter. The line of pink and red carnations went down his spine in such a tantalizing manner.
The uniform top was also something to gawk at, his shoulders were completely exposed, allowing everyone to see his freckles. It sat perfectly cropped halfway down Izuku’s chest, leaving his navel exposed. He had to remove his belly button piercing so there weren’t any chances of it getting ripped out when he was thrown in the air. The red and black bands on the top accompanied by the word devils embroidered in white looked absolutely stunning.
Accompanied by the dark eyeliner and myriad of piercings on his face he thought he looked absolutely delectable. A black choker rested on the base of his neck, although he was looking to wow the crowd he also wanted to make sure he was safe in case anyone became too riled up and tried to take advantage of an unprotected throat. All things considered, the top he wore was right- he absolutely was feeling devilish. The outfit was completed with a pair of white sneakers and white socks, as directed by Mina.
Her voice pulled Izuku out of his intense staring session and he along with the others turned to look at her.
“Alright, everyone! The game is about to start and we have to go out there and let them know we have the best team! Are you ready devils?!” She shouted through cupped hands, a brilliant smile gracing her features.
There was a cacophony of cheers and the sounds of pompoms being swished around in the air. Another girl had handed him a pair, he felt excitement as he also wiggled the pompoms admiring how the red and silver sparkled under the fluorescent lights.
Someone had tapped his shoulder and told him it was time to go, as they all lined up to walk out to the field. He felt jittery with nerves but he was excited, Izuku had never done something like this before and he couldn’t wait for what was to come.
Katsuki’s face appeared in his thoughts as they made their way outside but Izuku quickly pushed away the thought, he knew he was going to get caught up on if the blonde was there and where he would be. If he spent too much time worrying he was going to mess something up and that was the last thing on his mind.
The roar of the crowd as they entered the stadium was something he had never heard before, the sound rumbling in his chest. He had forgotten that this was nothing like high school with a couple of bleachers this was the real deal. Izuku knew he must have looked like he had seen a ghost because a purple-haired omega grabbed his hand, squeezing it gently, and told him that it was going to be okay.
He wearily smiled back and nodded. Izuku was unsure if he could form words without throwing up.
He didn’t think it would be possible but the crowd got even louder, the cheers and whistles booming in his ears. He turned towards the field and he could immediately see why players from both teams had started to settle onto the field.
“Alright, you know what we must do!” Mina shouted and everyone got into a line with Izuku settling in the spot at Mina’s right side. They were just going to do a couple of cheers and hype up the crowd a bit and wave their little pompoms Izuku thought to himself, trying to stop the shaking of his hands. The main event would come later at half-time and he would be okay, things would be okay.
At least that's what Izuku knew he had to tell himself.
Izuku took a deep breath and looked at the crowd and put on a big smile, doing his best to push all the anxiety deep down inside his chest. His heart fluttered in his chest but he spent days training and memorizing the chants and he wasn’t about to let it go to waste.
Mina started off the chant and he followed, making sure that every movement that he made was just as bouncy and energetic as hers. He made sure to lock eyes with some of the spectators and give little winks and blow little kisses.
Izuku chanted along with the crowd, swaying his hips in time with all of the other cheerleaders, giggling along with them whenever someone would wolf whistle at them. One of the taller beta males pumped his fists in the air while the smaller betas started clapping, keeping time with the chants. It was as though they all felt the surge of electricity between themselves, the crowd equally as rowdy as they were.
They screamed when they scored points and that just added to the excitement. Mina even had a chant going along for Kirishima, which Izuku could tell he enjoyed because it was as though the screams gave him a supercharge. He played with such gusto, tackling people harder and screaming louder whenever they scored another touchdown for the team.
Time was going by quickly between the cheering and the brief pauses to gawk at the players. Izuku had gotten a couple of nasty looks from the other teams' cheerleaders, however, he was too excited to care. He knew he probably stuck out like a sore thumb with all of his tattoos and with his skirt but it just added to the emotion of it all. In his head he knew they were just jealous, they looked plain in their uniform and matching bows meanwhile their squad was filled with all sorts of characters.
The team he was on felt more friendly, they might not have been as poised but Izuku knew deep down in his heart they were the best.
…
A loud whistle screeched in the air and Izuku paused in fear. That was the signal that they were waiting for. It was finally halftime.
Izuku felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach, all the confident buzz that had been swirling in his veins fizzling out at the sound. The other cheerleaders were already heading to their spots and left the spot in the middle open for him just as they practiced.
Everything felt as though it was going in slow motion, his legs were on autopilot as he settled into his spot. He put his hands on his hips as directed, and he thanked the lord he had taken a quick pause beforehand to use the bathroom.
He just had to wait for the cue of the music to start. His eyes darted through the crowd, he was unsure what he was looking for but he couldn’t stop searching. His knees trembled slightly as he felt his breath quicken from all the nerves.
( His mind tried to tell him that he didn’t know what he was looking for. However, his omega knew. His omega would always know. )
Red eyes locked onto his own and Izuku felt all the tension that was wound up in his chest like a tight rubber band loosen up. Katsuki stared at him with a gaze that warmed him up from the inside as if he had actually been standing right in front of him and telling him to do a good job. Katsuki offered him a small smile and a quick little nod.
Izuku had to stop himself from gawking- it was as if the alpha knew that he was nervous and just about ready to jump out of his skin.
The music started playing and Izuku felt his omega take the reins. He thought knowing Katsuki’s exact location was going to cause him distress but it was like it sent him into overdrive. Of course, his omega knew better, his omega no longer treated this as a situation where he had to woo the crowd. His alpha was in the crowd and Izuku knew he had to present himself. He had to be absolutely irresistible in every sense of the word.
If this is what it took to not be anxious then he would let his omega steer him. Izuku knew he had to trust that inner part of himself to do a good job, to deny it no longer.
The world stopped moving in slow motion and he could feel the beat that he needed to follow in his chest. Everything that was overwhelming immediately became clear and Izuku could feel himself hyper-focus.
He had one goal in mind and it was to put on the best show he possibly could, not for all of the spectators in the crowd but for one blonde in particular.
He smirked as he began to move his hips on autopilot, eyes continuously locked onto Katsuki’s. He moved with such grace and elegance, following the motions of the dance with ease. It was a lot of fancy footwork but he started to have fun, Izuku made extra sure to exaggerate his body rolls, the skirt lifting, and no doubt showing off the skin-tight cheeky shorts he had on underneath.
Every maneuver he made beckoned Katsuki’s the spectator's eyes. Every time he raised his arms or shook his pompoms it was like a sweet siren call. He felt countless of eyes staring at him, eating him with their gaze.
None of them mattered his omega chirped, absolutely soaking in the hunger-filled gaze from a certain pair of eyes. Katsuki looked like a hunter and Izuku was doing an excellent job of being seductive prey.
The musical cue changed and he dropped his pompoms, turning around with a particularly hedonistic sway. It was time for the stunts and he couldn’t be more excited.
Alpha will see how strong we are, alpha will be rough with us, perfect pretty little omega his inner omega chanted as he made his way to his teammates. Two strong alphas waited for him on their knees, hands clasped together ready for him to step on.
Without hesitation he used both of his hands to grab onto each shoulder, stepping into the palms with ease. He smiled as he was hoisted up, ready for what came next. Izuku lifted up one of his legs and held the position, a smirk appearing on his mouth as he saw the crowd in front of them. All of the stretching he did paid off, as he was able to do a heel stretch with no strain.
“You ready omega?” One of the alphas shouted at him as they both started to lower themselves, gearing up to launch him in the air.
Izuku nodded as he lowered his leg and prepared for the launch, he jumped as they forced him up and he twisted his body as he reached maximum height. He laughed as he completed a full 360 spin, giggling as he landed in the arms of all three of his partners.
Mina had told him time and time again that it felt like flying and now after experiencing it with a full stadium of people he finally understood what she meant. It was nothing in comparison to just doing flips on the ground on his own, this was infinitely more exhilarating than that and he couldn’t wait for the second throw.
They lifted him up once again, keeping time with the other group of cheerleaders who were doing stunts. He did a couple more poses, turning to look at the other omega that the other set of people were lifting. She smiled and blew him a kiss- all part of the routine- and he acted as though he had been shot through the heart, acting like he grabbed the kiss in one fist before blowing it out into the crowd.
Once again came the cue to be launched and Izuku was ecstatic, he was poised and ready for the launch once more. He jumped as they threw him up once again, doing a split in mid-air before landing into awaiting arms once more.
Izuku eased out of the tangle of strong arms and made his way back to the center. Mina made sure to let the tech guys know that the song needed to change to something absolutely dramatic for his part.
The other cheerleaders stood in a line behind him, each of them swaying to the beat of the music. Izuku turned to face the crowd, clapping his hands together in time with the music. He led the crowd to join him, the cheerleaders behind him urging the crowd to stand up.
Mina grabbed a megaphone and yelled into it for everyone to hear.
“Are you ready for this?” She screamed.
“YEAH!” The crowd responded. Izuku felt a blush creep up his cheeks. In all the commotion of the crowd he had lost the familiar crimson but that didn’t stop him, he knew Katsuki was there and the performance wasn’t over.
“I THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT! ARE YOU READY?!” She screamed once again, a devilish smirk appearing on her lips as she yelled louder into the megaphone.
The responding roar was all Izuku needed to get ready as he turned sideways. He whispered a silent prayer that everything would turn out just the way he had practiced.
“TAKE IT AWAY IZUKU!” The team screamed together and he knew it was time for action.
Izuku took a deep breath before launching himself backward, hands making contact with the ground as he used all of his strength to keep himself moving. He heard the crowd screaming as he continued to gain momentum, performing flip after flip as he had done plenty of times before.
He slowed down at the last flip, maintaining a handstand for a couple of seconds before contorting his legs down into a split. Izuku raised his hands triumphantly as he panted. If the crowd had been loud before the amount of yelling that was happening could have been enough to burst his eardrums.
His cheer mates ran to him a bunch of hands reaching for him to hoist him in the air and he couldn’t have felt more proud at that moment. His omega was positively raptured by the ecstasy putting on a good performance for his alpha.
“Alright alright let him down so I can give him a proper hug!” Mina shouted, trying to make her way through the crowd of cheerleaders that surrounded Izuku.
After Izuku was put on the ground he felt his knees buckle, the exhaustion of it all coming to bite him. He tumbled right into Mina’s arms and held onto her tightly, she picked him right up and told him countless thank you, singing his praises.
“I didn’t think I could do it! I did that!” Izuku yelled, unable to control the racing of his heart and the rush of blood in his ears.
“We might have to make him a permanent member of the squad, I don’t think we’ve had a crowd this hyped in a long time.” The purple-haired omega said as she gazed out into the crowd with wide eyes.
“I think we just might!” Mina said through giggles, ignoring how the color drained from Izuku’s face at the comment.
“I think I need to sit down,” Izuku murmured as Mina let him down, both women grabbing him by the arm and dragging him to sit with all the other cheerleaders.
They had done their part and now it was time for the football team to do their part. They all sat on the benches designated for them as they watched the athletes appear on the field again, ready to continue the game.
Izuku sat quietly while the rest of the group chattered away amongst themselves, he turned to look back at the crowd, hoping with all of his heart that he did enough that he knocked the wind out of Katsuki’s lungs.
He turned back and continued to watch the game, formulating a plan to see Katsuki after even if it was to tease him. To see what effect he had on the blonde.
(He kept thinking about his game plan in an effort to ignore how many times he said his alpha, or how instantly relieved he felt once he looked into Katsuki’s eyes, that would be a discussion he would need to have with himself later.)
It wasn’t at all because he wanted Katsuki to praise him and get his hands on him.
Not at all.
…
The rest of the game had been quite the spectacle, Izuku wasn’t particularly sure how the game worked or how the points were given out he just knew when to make noise. By the time the game was over it was apparent to him that their team had won.
Izuku watched as Kirishima threw off his helmet and pounded his chest, shouting through their victory. He watched as the redhead locked eyes with his girlfriend and ran to her, growling as he picked her up in his arms and spun her around. Thousands of kisses were peppered on her face as she squealed and hit him with her pompoms.
Izuku couldn’t help but feel his insides turn with envy. He wished he had someone to embrace him like that. He hated that he felt this way toward his close friend but he couldn’t help it. It wasn’t just them, he found himself surrounded by couples embracing each other. They were yelling, cheering, and enjoying one another. Yet, once again he was stuck watching everyone else have fun while he was on the sidelines.
In a moment all of the ecstasy and all of the excitement had fizzled out into resentment. He couldn’t have one happy moment without his own issues getting in the way.
It wasn’t like he could go look for Katsuki, throw himself into his arms, and then they would just live happily ever after. Izuku was well aware the reason he had no one to turn to was because of his own volition. He was determined to continue playing this little game that Katsuki and he were in. He wasn’t going to give in that easily no matter how much he wanted to.
He had already suffered this long, what’s a couple more days or weeks.
“Hey, there’s going to be a party at Mina’s house. Since we won the game! You should come!” A voice suddenly called out to him. Startled he turned around and was face to face with a football player.
A handsome football player.
Tall, muscular, with deep brown eyes that just radiated interest. Judging by his neutral scent he was just a beta, but Izuku could work with that. He needed someone, anyone to fill in the void that filled his chest. This beta certainly wouldn’t be able to scratch the itch that the perfect alpha would satiate but it was worth a try.
“And who might you be?” Izuku purred- putting his hands on his hips as he stared directly into those warm eyes.
“Rody. Rody Soul. However, you can call me your date to the party if you’d like.” Rody responded, confidently sticking a calloused hand out at Izuku. Izuku saw how his other arm flexed as he carried his helmet against his hip. Izuku had to admit the way the other man carried himself, albeit a little cocky, was very attractive.
Izuku stuck out his hand and grasped Rody’s giving it a firm handshake. The entire thing was comical to him, the formality of it all making him laugh.
“I’m Izuku, and what makes you think I’m going to say yes to being your date? I don’t go on dates with strangers I just met.” He quipped, smirking as he saw the gears turning in Rody’s head.
“Ah yes- stranger danger. That's why I told you my name and you told me yours, which I think, technically, doesn’t make us strangers anymore.” Rody responded, smiling widely and moving his eyebrows up and down to convince him further.
“Ah- I guess you’re right then. I’ll meet you there then. I’m not going to show up wearing this uniform no matter how good they make my legs look.” Izuku smiled deviously as Rody looked up and down his body, he bit his lip to stop himself from gawking.
“That doesn’t matter to me all that much- you could wear a potato sack and I think you would look pretty.”
Izuku couldn’t stop the laugh that bubbled in his chest from coming out. This one was certainly a smooth talker and he was curious enough to take the man up on his offer. He took a couple of steps closer to Rody, putting a singular hand on the man's chest. He used this as leverage and leaned up pressing his lips close to Rody’s ear.
“I’ll see you there. Wearing something absolutely more stunning than a potato sack.” Izuku whispered. He then swiftly pulled away and waved, saying a quick goodbye as he walked away. He could hear the beta yell out for his number but Izuku didn’t spare a singular glance.
It was all part of the game anyway.
He just needed someone to waste time with.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
…
Getting out of the stadium was probably the worst part of the entire experience. The waves of people who were trying to exit were a little too much for Izuku to handle. He tried weaving through the groups of people and found himself getting a little too antsy at how close they were all packed.
Izuku instead chose to make his way back toward the locker rooms and hide out by the entrance while he waited for the majority of people to leave. Once he saw the locker room entrance he sat next to the door, pulling out his phone to check how long it would take him to get home by bus.
“So your phone works.”
Izuku gasped at the words, everything had been so silent away from the big crowds of people he should have been able to hear someone approach him if he wasn’t so focused on his phone.
He looked up and his heart fluttered. Katsuki stood before him, looking down at him with an expression that Izuku knew was annoyance. Yet, this time it didn’t reach his eyes. His eyes were soft, almost as if he was afraid to approach.
“My phone is fully functional see?” Izuku snarked while holding up his phone before he continued. “Not that it’s any of your business. What are you doing here?” He tried to say nonchalantly, yet the words carried a sense of adoration in the air.
Katsuki scoffed, squatting down to Izuku’s level. Izuku had wished Katsuki had just stayed standing, the motion of lowering himself to Izuku’s level had his omega swooning. The alpha’s scent hit his nose, that familiar burning campfire that lit him up from the inside. He desperately wanted to purr but before the noise could come out he slammed a hand onto his chest.
Katsuki looked puzzled for a second but it was quickly replaced with the stoic demeanor that he usually carried.
“You never called or texted. I was waiting.” The blonde responded cooly, his gaze unrelenting.
That's what this was about? The fact that Izuku didn’t call him?
“How did you know I was here?” Izuku asked- deflecting whatever Katsuki was saying. He didn’t have the words to explain why he didn’t get in contact with the blonde. How was he supposed to say that he was trying to play hard to get? How was he going to say that he was unsure about this whole fated pair thing, to begin with? How was he supposed to say anything with that delicious scent in the air?
Izuku could tell that Katsuki was getting frustrated with his lack of addressing the whole situation and he waited for Katsuki to snap- to give him any negative reaction that he could use to step away from this entire situation.
Izuku knew he wasn’t strong enough to deny Katsuki- he knew that from the first time, he laid eyes on him. However, if Katsuki was still that asshole from the past it would be easier to turn his back on the whole situation entirely. Fated pairs or not he would be able to walk away.
Yet, Katsuki didn’t lose his cool. To Izuku it looked like he was taking the time to properly think about what he was going to say before he said it.
Izuku would be lying if he said he wasn’t curious about this new version of Katsuki. This was uncharted territory. He knew he had changed, but he knew nothing of what Katsuki did or how he was different.
His omega whined to find out more, pleading with a heavy heart.
“I know you don’t like crowds. I caught your scent and followed it. Didn’t think that you would actually be here- I hoped you would be though.”
The words slapped Izuku in the face.
Katsuki had hoped he would be there?
Katsuki?
Izuku blinked a couple of times, unsure if what was happening was real or a poor delusion conjured up by physical exhaustion.
“Who the fuck are you?” Izuku asked, bringing his knees up to his chest. He tried to put as much between himself and the alpha. This was new, all these feelings and sensations whirling around in him were getting too confusing to compartmentalize.
Izuku had literally told Mina days before that he worried Katsuki was the same old alpha that he had always been. He said it with his own mouth. However, since the day that Katsuki had walked into his shop, they had been a completely different person.
“I’m trying to change. Or I have been changing since you disappeared. I’m trying to be a better person, not just for me or for you but in general. I want to be a man that you are proud of. I want to be the alpha you thought I was when we were younger.” Katsuki explained, eyes gazing towards the floor. He looked nervous- and even that was new for Izuku. “I meant what I said about becoming your future.”
Never in a million years had Izuku thought Katsuki had paid attention to a singular thing he said during the entirety of their middle school and high school days. However, now here the alpha was, saying things that to Izuku sounded like he was listening all along.
“Katsuki,” Izuku said- nearly breathless. Usually, he was the one who was rambling and talking to the point where he put his foot in his mouth, yet, this time he didn’t know what to say.
“That's not my name and you know that,” Katsuki grumbled, determination blazing behind red irises.
Izuku stared back, certainly, he was joking. It took him a minute to register what Katsuki meant, and the weight of the words hit him like a million bricks.
That silly little nickname he gave the blonde when they were kids. That is what was bothering him.
“Well, it's the one you’ve earned,” Izuku responded. He wasn’t going to stand down. Izuku knew that if he kept pushing Katsuki’s buttons then he would show that nasty side of him again.
Then he would be able to turn away without getting too attached and hurt in the end. Izuku kept thinking about how the entire situation was a game and that he was going to win.
But at the very core of it- he just didn’t want to get hurt. Izuku knew he wasn’t enough- and that he would never be enough. He just needed an excuse- a way out. Everything up to now had just been a front, he tried to be strong and he tried to convince himself he was big and bad.
Yet under all the teasing, the sultry looks, and the snarky remarks he was scared.
“I have a party I have to get ready for my date will be waiting for me there,” Izuku said as he got up abruptly- his hands going to dust off his skirt. He ignored the glare that he got from Katsuki- a look that immediately left his eyes as soon as it showed up.
“Go on however many dates you want Izuku. At the end of the day, I’m going to have you and my name back. It’s just a matter of time. I’m not giving up. No matter how scared you are. All I am asking for is a chance.” Katsuki said as he rose up from his knees.
Izuku felt all the color leave his face, had he been mumbling the whole time? How much had he said? He needed to get outing he needed to leave quickly.
Izuku just wanted to go home, get dressed and get absolutely fucked up at the party to avoid all the embarrassment. Nevertheless, he needed to save face, and act like Katsuki didn’t just say what he just said.
The omega turned around and started to walk down the hallway, turning after a couple of long steps. He waved at the blonde who just stood there- red eyes never leaving his green ones.
“I’ll see you around Kat. Su. Ki.” Izuku said- punctuating every syllable of the blonde's name, in one last attempt to get the alpha to snap. Just once more to see if he had finally broken his resolve. Izuku turned back around- his sneakers making a dull noise with every step. The silence between the two shook his very core.
“Probably sooner than you think Izu. Ku.”
The rumble Izuku heard behind the words was enough to make him speed up his steps, his knees nearly buckling at the sound. His heart thundered in his chest, whether it was in fear or in lust he wasn’t sure.
Hadn’t he tested the waters enough? His omega cried. Hadn’t he gotten the answer he needed? It continued, howling in his chest.
“Just one more night- I just need one more night to be reckless and then I’ll make moves. Please.” He whispered out to no one in particular.
The omega in him grew silent and Izuku knew it wasn’t going to be for very long.
He was running out of ways to quiet his omega down and pretty soon he would be out of options.
As he made his way outside of the building and took a deep breath of fresh air. The light breeze tickled his hair and for a moment it felt like all the stress had left his body. He made his way toward the bus stop, contemplating his next moves.
Should he give Katsuki another chance? Certainly after some time of waiting and waiting and waiting he would just get tired and give up and move on to the next omega that piqued his interest.
(Izuku’s heart hurt at the thought of another omega in his arms- breathing in his scent and wearing his claiming bite with pride.)
What if he gave Katsuki a chance and eventually he became nasty again and thought that Izuku wasn’t enough for him? What if the whole fated pair thing was just them getting overwhelmed at smelling each other after so long and it wasn’t fated pairs at all? Granted biologically it would be easy for him to claim another alpha- but instinctually Izuku knew if he gave into his fated pair no other alpha would ever compare.
Izuku wasn’t completely sure if he was willing to risk having every other alpha ruined for him if Katsuki just up and left him one day. Granted the evil part of his brain was willing to claim him back and ruin him for any other omega permanently for the rest of Katsuki’s life, but is that the way he wanted to do things?
All the thoughts rushed and swirled in his head. Providing one terrible scenario after another, if it wasn’t him trapping Katsuki or Katsuki trapping him it was something equally as awful.
Even now that he was on the bus, everything seemed more complicated now that Izuku became aware of the fact that he was scared. He took another deep breath and tried to push everything from his mind.
These would be thoughts that he would have to process on his own time- he could probably make a trip to his mother's house and talk to her and get her opinion. If he had to deal with it on his own any longer, Izuku felt as though his head would explode.
For now, he would just have to get home and get to the party. Katsuki be damned, Izuku would enjoy his night and then make his decisions.
Even if he knew that it wasn’t that easy.
…
Izuku felt himself getting impatient- granted that could have been aggravated by the 4 shots of vodka he took at home, while he was getting ready, to relax. He had been waiting outside of Mina’s house for about 40 minutes after the party started, watching everyone come in with bottles of a wide variety of liquor and getting ready to party.
Then there was him, he was just standing outside on the steps waiting for his date to come by and lead him in. He hadn’t spent so much time putting on tight leather pants to not get ogled at by some Himbo jocks. He even made sure to wear his red crop top with the word slut printed in black lettering across the chest to prove a point. Of course, the red and black cardigan he wore over it was to lure the football player in with a sense of innocence first before he went all in.
Even though he was ready to be devoured by a man he just met he made sure to keep his thick collar on- he was risky but of course, he wasn’t that risky.
He sighed as he got up, once again dusting his pants off before he turned around and started to walk towards the door. The sound of loud house music and the promise of free drinks were a siren call.
“Izuku wait!” A voice shouted out, scaring him as he was about to enter.
“Do you always make your dates wait? Or is it just me?” Izuku hissed, crossing his arms over his chest. He was supposed to be having several horribly made drinks in making out with an idiot and forgetting Katsuki by now. Instead of being nearly sober with his thoughts.
“My car broke down-“ Rody said between pants. “And my phone is dead so I couldn’t call an uber, so I ran here.”
Izuku could only stare back at him. Unsure what to say- feeling a tad bit guilty that he had lost his temper.
“You look lovely! I really dig your shirt.” Rody said, holding a hand out. “I think I have made you wait long enough, haven’t I? Let’s go in I’m parched.”
Izuku offered him a bright smile and took his rough hand and pulled Rody in the direction of the party. They navigated through a sea of people. Izuku knew exactly where to go to get a drink for both of them.
He was absolutely ready to get the night started.
…
Izuku gasped as Rody brought him closer- both of their bodies swaying with the dance music that was blaring in all of their ears. He caught a whiff of Rody’s sweat- it didn’t excite him nearly as much as other scents he's had the pleasure of encountering. However, it did make him tingle a little with need.
Rody nosed around his collar- trying his best to catch a little bit of Izuku’s scent.
“You’re being a little too fresh you know that right?” Izuku hiccuped- giggling as he finished his sentence. He felt light on his feet, the alcohol making everything seem brighter and lovelier in his head.
“You just smell so good I want to eat you up,” Rody growled, nipping at his ear with small fangs.
“You can smell me?” Izuku questioned, steadying himself on Rody’s chest with two hands. His sparkling green eyes locked onto brown ones. “Aren't you a beta?”
“A beta with an exceptionally good nose sweetheart,” Rody responded before catching Izuku’s lips once again. They explored each other's mouths for a bit, getting lost in each other in the middle of the dance floor.
Izuku pulled away panting as he tried to catch his breath, he pulled Rody in close by the collar of his shirt much to the surprise of the other.
“I’ll let you taste something else that’s good if you get me one last drink before we go.” Izuku purred, shiny long fangs appearing as he smiled widely.
Rody could only nod, quickly pulling away and scrambling to the kitchen. Making his way through the crowd of people.
---
“Rody, what the fuck have you been dude?” A black-haired alpha shouted as he finally stepped into the kitchen.
“My guy- you know that green-haired cheerleader today? That’s where I’ve been. Cute little thing asked me for another drink.” Rody responded with a smile- reaching for two solo cups to fill at the keg.
“What is he?” The alpha asked- eyes scanning through the crowd. He found the Veridian beauty dancing with a group of women, practically being trapped inside one long grind train.
“He’s a sexy little omega with fangs for some reason? Not that it matters Shindo- I like him I think he’s fun.” Rody responded- struggling to fill one of the cups in his hands.
“Fangs? Of course, a beta like you wouldn’t know shit about that- here take these.” Shindo swatted away the two empty cups and replaced them with two full ones. “I was gonna give these to my date and her friend since I made them special but you can have them.” He stated.
“Aw dude thanks I owe you one!” Rody responded with a beaming smile before returning to the crowd.
Shindo watched hungrily as the beta made his way to his date. He watched as they both chugged the drinks that he had made. He felt so giddy he didn’t know what to do.
He pulled out his phone and made his way to the bathroom- it was the only place he could make a phone call without having to scream and without anyone hearing.
Shindo waited as the phone rang and smiled as the call connected.
“Change of plans- I found someone better. Granted it’s only one. However, he’s recessive. A damn shame that I also had to take out Rody but it’ll be worth it.”
He hung up with a singular tap.
All there was left was to wait.
---
The room was blurry- everything was so blurry. Izuku didn’t know which way he was going or where he was going. All he knew is that someone had their big hands on him and was carrying him somewhere.
It was as if everything was moving simultaneously incredibly fast and in slow motion. He had never felt so disoriented in his life.
Izuku tried to open his eyes wider to catch a better glimpse of who was holding him but to no avail- everything looked as though it was fog. All he could see was dark hair and he could smell the nauseating scent of an alpha. No matter how much he tried to focus it was all for nothing.
He weakly tried to wiggle his way out of their unrelenting grasp, thumping his hands on whatever body part was nearest to show his displeasure. Izuku’s head was spinning- there was dull music in the background and flashes of different colored lights. Everything sounded dull to him and all the lights were so unbelievably bright.
“Plea-please let me go,” Izuku whined, kicking his legs as hard as he could but it was nothing but a soft thump against the unrelenting behemoth who held onto him. He felt weightless for a second before he crashed onto a soft surface.
He heard a deep growl loud in his ear and felt several pairs of hands on his body. They were tugging and pulling and he felt helpless. His eyes couldn’t focus long enough to see who was touching him- everything was so painful- so blurry and he was vulnerable.
His heart was pounding in his chest- small omegan chirps leaving his mouth as he felt a rough hand grip his hair. Someone put their hand over his eyes- effectively taking away one of his senses. He figured once he got his shit together he would be able to leave- even with whatever drug was running through his veins. Now with his eyes gone, it was hopeless.
He was scared- more than he had ever been in his life. Izuku had been in dark places before of his own volition but this was something entirely different. Panic started to settle in as he felt his pants being torn off and his collar being fiddled with.
He started to hyperventilate, unable to take in enough air. Izuku was suffocating- trying to take a breath of clean air but only filling his lungs with air that was riddled with lusty pheromones.
He started to cry as his body started to react. The familiar warmth climbed up from the pit of his stomach and infested all of his other limbs.
Izuku wanted to be saved- he wanted nothing more than to be saved. He wanted Kacchan to come in and take him away. Izuku needed him- he couldn’t be claimed by someone other than him.
Izuku froze as he felt his collar snap- and the tightness that enveloped his scent glands immediately ease up. He tried to kick and buck the figures off of him- fighting wave after wave of dizziness.
“Pl-Please I’m begging you-“ Izuku slurred, fighting to get the words out. He was unsure if they could understand him but that didn’t stop him from begging. " I’ll give you all the m-money in my wallet” Izuku pleaded- trying to pull his arms away from his assailants.
His omega screamed in his head, not pausing from pleading for even a singular moment.
It wasn’t until he felt a hot breath ghost on his neck that he went hysterical. He tried calling out to the one person he knew could save him.
“Kacchan! Help!” He screamed through salty tears- he couldn’t even hear the sound of his own voice. Only the franticness of his heart in his ears and the muffled sounds of growls.
A wet tongue made its way up his neck and Izuku knew he had to keep fighting.
“Kacchan- Kacchan, please! Please please please!” He chirped out before he had fabric shoved into his mouth. He wriggled and tried to pull his neck away- throwing his head back and forth as much as he could.
Izuku felt his strength waning. Every movement he tried felt as though he was wading through quicksand but he knew he couldn’t give up. Mentally he tried to send signals to anyone who could possibly save him- he begged and pleaded with all of his heart.
Kacchan please his omega whispered over and over again as if it were the only words that it knew.
Suddenly he felt no weight on him- straining to hear through the buzzy haze that hummed in his head he heard the sounds of thumps and growls.
Izuku trembled- whimpering slightly, the alphas were probably fighting over who would take the first turn with him.
He tried to muster up the courage to get up using this blessed opportunity to escape. On wobbly legs he tried to rise- only to quickly thud onto the floor. Shaky hands pulled away the blindfold only to be blinded by a bright light- he blinked furiously trying to make sense of what he saw but all of his efforts proved useless.
There was nothing but blurry images that faded into black and returned to color again.
Izuku took a deep breath and tried to crawl- his muscles burning with every outstretch of his arms. He ignored the blazing heat in his gut- his brain only focused on escaping and finding help.
It wasn’t until he was grabbed by the back of his shirt and hoisted into a pair of warm arms that he started to panic again.
A deep rumble calmed him- the arms holding him firmly against a broad chest. He smelled the unmistakable scent of blood but he knew that he was safe.
Another whiff confirmed that fact in his head. An angry blazing campfire mixed in with the unforgettable scent of spiced apple cider.
A sad croon made its way into Izuku’s ears, immediately prompting him to shed tears. Izuku felt so tired- so weak- unable to look at his savior. His begging and pleading worked- he was finally safe.
“You’re safe my love, no need to keep fighting. I’ll keep you safe no matter what.” was the last thing Izuku heard before passing out and going slack in his hero’s arms.
