MCU Spider-Man: A Tale of the Young Avengers

Chapter 48: Epilogue

Summary:

A snapshot of the next few months.

Chapter Text

Thankfully, for the next few months, the Young Avengers didn’t have to worry about any supervillain threats. Except Shocker, if you even consider him a supervillain. They mostly dealt with training and handling a few gang activities for a while, which was a welcome break.

The Inner Demons though set-up base in New York, so they were becoming a more apparent presence in the criminal underworld. Spider-Man made sure to keep a close eye on them. Those on regular patrol made sure they didn’t do any radical moves to gain any further foothold.

Still, they never found out who ordered that APC and why… Which meant that Karen was constantly monitoring for that but to no avail. There was no sighting of the vehicle in New York at the moment.

The Maggia’s presence in the criminal underworld was still felt, but at least they stopped the Human trafficking racket. Still, busting a few weapons deals became a regular occurrence for Spidey, Black Cat, and White Tiger. They began tracking Martello and Silvermane, hoping to bust them just like what was done to Kingpin.

Harley would visit the compound every weekend, usually flying in with his suit. He got better at sparring, but had a ways to go. At least Scott approved of his relationship with Cassie.

Somehow, someway, more Spider-Man t-shirts and plushies appeared around New York. That always touched Peter’s heart whenever he patrolled the various boroughs. Felicia and Kate believed Tony had something to do about it.

Kate found a happy role in playing “girl in the chair” for Spider-Man and Black Cat when not out on missions or patrol. Hawkette did join New York’s iconic crime fighting couple every now and then, but only when her itch for a fight needed to be scratched. Otherwise, she was mostly in comms, helping them with research and leads.

At some point, Peter finally ‘exchanged notes’ with Thor over Asgardian mead. That conversation was just between the two of them, no matter how much everyone else wanted to join in. In the end, Thor commended him for the ‘wisdom’ he had in his age, but also reminded him how lucky he was as well (especially with not holding back with Felicia).

Thanksgiving came, and since Clint, Nat, and Lydia Hardy were all out of the country, Felicia and Kate spent the holiday with the Parker family, much to everyone’s delight. May absolutely loved the girls, and would do anything for them as well. Peter tried (operative word: tried) to learn a new dish to cook for them, but at least it came out decent enough.

When Christmas came, Hector Ayala was brought in on the superhero secret identities, and met the rest of the Avengers and parents of the Young Avengers. He was quite impressed with the roster gathered and thanked all the teens for helping look out for his hija. Still, he felt smug that his hunch of Peter being Spider-Man was spot on.

It came to no one’s surprise that everyone in the study group averaged at least an A for the semester, with Peter, Kate, and Gwen each averaging A .

Clint and Natasha eventually returned to the compound, successful in handling sleeper agents.

When the following semester came, Harley was introduced in Midtown, and made an automatic member of their friendship group. He also struck an instant friendship with Ned, meaning the three guys quickly became the best of friends (who were all technological geeks). His relationship with Cassie was also made known and everyone supported him (except Flash and the other guys who became interested in his girlfriend, but the girls of the group would instantly shoot glares, and that would easily keep the peace).

Eventually, Peter and Harley became their own version of the Science Bros, and constantly consulted the rest of the team in improving suits and gadgets.

Peter somehow made Valentine’s Day work with two girlfriends. At least they insisted that the three of them spend the occasion together in Felicia’s penthouse.

When Tony and Pepper’s spring wedding came, it was on a Saturday and it would be held in Miami, Florida. The bride, groom, and the rest of the adults went ahead during the school week. When school ended the day before the wedding, the teens immediately headed off via Tony’s private jet. They were pleasantly surprised to find that Tony reserved an entire 4-bedroom villa for them in the venue, as if he was anticipating some members of the team to ‘bunk’ in the same bed together (he assumed correctly).

The trio’s performance in the wedding went off without a hitch. Tony and Pepper requested they perform Unforgettable and Can’t Help Falling In Love as the songs they would dance to. After the performance of both song and dance, there was a rousing applause, but Tony and Pepper quickly looked to them to mouth a ‘thank you’ in their direction.

Thor and Loki did approach the team afterwards to commend them for everything they’ve accomplished so far. Then, they bid them goodbye for a while, stating that there was something going on in a planet called Xandar and they needed to be there first. The brothers brought Bruce along with them.

After finishing their dinner, the teens inconspicuously headed back to their villa for the evening. “Okay, I think I’m good with the social interaction for tonight,” Peter chuckled.

“Same,” Kate snorted.

“Aw it wasn’t too bad,” Felicia teased. “They just wanted pictures with us.”

“And wonder who the heck we all were to the newlyweds,” Harley chuckled.

“Still can’t believe the ‘best interns ever’ excuse still works,” Cassie giggled.

“People would be lining up to apply for internships if they found out the ‘interns’ got a villa all to themselves during a wedding reception,” Ava pointed out.

“I’m just glad Tony held his wedding a few weeks before my birthday,” Felicia said amusedly.

“Right yeah that’s barely two weeks from now, Licia!” Kate said happily.

“Party in her penthouse, then somehow wake up early enough to go to that field trip,” Peter nodded.

“Oh wait right yeah! That field trip!” Ava’s eyes widened.

“Oh uhm, which one’s that again?” Harley asked sheepishly.

“The one in MoMA,” the trio answered with smiles. “Anyway, I think we should retire for the night,” Felicia winked at the other two.

“Actually yeah,” Peter smirked.

“Mhmm, let’s go,” Kate waggled her eyebrows.

The Young Avengers will return in

Infinity War

Notes:

And that concludes this work! Thanks for all who have read this!

Sorry about the time jump, but my muse was really itching to do Infinity War at the time I concluded this story.

For everyone wondering, in IW, Peter was on his way to MoMA when he was on the bus (when he noticed the giant ring ship/Q-Ship). So that's the relevance of that part of their conversation here.

Will post the first 2 chapters of my IW storyline tomorrow, and probably 2-3 chapters a week going forward.

Then the sequel to that afterwards!
